6:15pm come to an literally empty restaurant and told I need a reservation 7:15pm come again on time for the reservation 7:20pm sat down at a table after 5 min wait with a reservation 7:30pm finally got our bread and took our orders 7:40pm salad came 8:00pm pasta and pizza are still MIA A little frustrated but choices are limited I guess. It is pitch dark outside and 20 min drive to Mendocino. The hotel is awesome but do anything you can to avoid the restaurant.

Farm-to-Fork and it’s definitely high quality EVERYTHING! The staff, the food, the views, the beautiful property and buildings, even the way they landscape the plate with food is pretty:)

Not very impressed. Good wine menu but the food is just so so. Ordered the pork chop and the mussels. Not sure if this is a bad season for mussels but most of them were just stringy threads. The pork chop was ok but nothing special. Speaking of specials, our server didn’t share those with us, but as we were eating dinner we overheard other servers introducing them to their tables. We’re staying at the hotel and the room and view are amazing. We’ll just keep looking for other food experiences.

For the price we paid, I cannot give 5200 more than 3 stars. While we had table by the window with an ocean view, we still had a view of a workman’s truck etc. that we had to look beyond. I was not very hungry so opted for two appetizers which seemed to confuse the waiter. The special, honeydew with prosciutto, sounded delicious. A few small figs and a generous drizzle of balsamic vinegar completed the dish. The presentation was better than the taste. The melon could have been a bit riper and the prosciutto was a bit fatty. I asked for my second starter, the tamale pancake, to be served when DH’s entrée came. I had been looking forward all afternoon to the tamale pancake. Again the presentation was better than the taste. It was totally lacking in flavor … very, very bland. The guacamole crème which formed the base had the most taste. The tamale pancake was a round, fairly dense piece of tamale studded with corn and a few peas. The pulled pork had no taste and the salsa no zip. We didn’t want a full bottle of wine and the wine by the glass seemed overpriced for what it was. We settled for a brut from Signal Ridge. Okay, not memorable. DH had trouble deciding on his entrée but finally went with the local salmon which came on a bed of succotash. Sounded like an odd combination to me, but it seemed to work for him, although he found the center of his salmon a bit underdone for his taste. While dessert sounded tempting, we were quite happy to end our meal with an espresso each. Our waiter seemed less attentive that the waiter in the adjoining room. The two rooms are open so we could hear the other waiter list specials that our waiter did not mention. And while I realize that Heritage House is still in rehab phase, the dining room looks very tired. I assume the furniture must be left from an earlier version of the inn. If we ever return to 5200, we will probably opt for the lounge. Looks more inviting.

Not a very good experience. They couldn’t accommodate the groupon we had bought and gave us 50% of the groupons benefit. Ordered a pizza with no onions, and it came very timely with onions. Polite waitress took it back. 33 minutes later after my wife was done with her dinner we get one with no onions or mushrooms. Very politely the waitress noted they were out of mushrooms, out of ribs, out of calamari, and even out of ranch dressing my wife loves with her sweet potato fries. To top off they forgot my groupon and tagged my credit card for the full amount. Just not a good experience. Won’t return way too many professionally run places around to experience this again. Waitress was nice though some errors I would think we’re here to own.

Delicious dinner. We shared the warm spinach salad then had the salmon and pork tenderloin for dinner. Very nice wine list and attentive service. Breakfast was good too!

Directly off US1, this restaurant and Inn is a touch of sophistication along the beautiful backdrop of the rugged California coast. The view from the dining area is gorgeous; grab a table by a window if possible. Reservations accepted. Not all tables host this amazing view. The restaurant is some distance from the water, so we ordered mimosas and walked to the cliff’s edge for a moment after ordering. We came here for Easter brunch, and ordered the omelette with goat cheese and salmon. Both were great, but not out of this world. We enjoyed praising the lounge with artifacts of yore. It’s a special place with dependable food.

Hmmm, where do I start? We love coming to Heritage House to stay as the accommodations are great so I hope the restaurant can figure out how to get up to the same level. Came for dinner on a Friday evening. We were only one of three tables. Only two couples in the bar. I walked back through at 7 on Saturday and same story. We were seated by ourselves near the open kitchen. Server was friendly and got good service as no one in there. My wife’s panzanella was perhaps the worst creation we have encountered. It came covered with olives(not on the menu), a very bitter radicchio like lettuce wrap, very hard tiny croutons that seemed to have come from a Pepperidge Farm bag, salty tasteless feta cheese and a few tomatoes. The server gladly took it back to get rid of the olives and insisted the kitchen staff said olives were listed(we double checked when we left and they were not). Then we had to listen to staff argue at the kitchen on whether an order was packed for take out or room service(not sure there is a big take out business here!). I will say my burger was decent but the fries very salty.

The staff is great. We had the strangest seats in the house(lounge chairs with a coffee table of sorts in between). The food had the best of intentions, but was just poorly executed. Come for a drink and the view. Go somewhere else for your meal.

Had some snacks and drinks in the very comfortable atmosphere. Sitting by the fire, playing a board game, sipping a nice glass of wine. This coupled with great service from Brandy, one of the bartenders, made for a delightful evening during a rainy evening. 4 stars! Part II We also a buffet dinner on thanksgiving and breakfast the next day. Both were good but not outstanding. Service in the restaurant was a bit inexperienced but pleasant. 2.5 stars. Hang out in the lounge, eat there, with good service and a great atmosphere.

Oh this place is terrible. Stay away! It’s a trap! Very expensive but terrible food, we tried to order wisely to make it more affordable since we had read that the food was not up to par. Had a pizza that was passable, although quite soggy, and one of the most disgusting salads I’ve ever eaten– some kind of arugula and fruit salad that tasted like it had been dunked in vanilla ice cream. The greens were completely drenched in the weird vanilla ice cream dressing. So so bizarre. Speaking of bizarre, the décor in here was truly strange. The rest of the property is appropriately updated-seaside(if that makes sense), but the dining room was oddly sterile and sparse. The bar is kind of cool, though; we hung out there after dinner and quite enjoyed the more casual feel. One tip for the owners would be to allow you to order pizzas from the bar for a more casual option, since anyone who pays for a full dinner at the restaurant will feel like they have been totally ripped off. I truly don’t mind paying up for a nice meal if the food is good, but hate feeling like I’ve been taken advantage of. This restaurant takes advantage of its guests, charging them an arm and a leg for pretty terrible food.

I’m always skeptical of hotel restaurants(aren’t you?) but since we felt like doing as little as possible during our Heritage House honeymoon, we opted to meander up the hill for dinner instead of going into town. The ambiance definitely has that hushed«I’m dining in a fancy hotel» feel, with couples each in their corners, having their own little getaway. And the food is certainly more pricey than you’d pay in town. But overall, the meal was delicious and the setting romantic. Was the portion of steak a little modest? Yes. Was the mussel broth a little under-seasoned? Perhaps. But, by hotel restaurant standards, 5200’s menu is definitely more gourmet bistro than corporate catering fare. We don’t regret having our one and only Mendocino dinner here — definitely a safe choice if you’re staying on site. And for non-hotel guests, it’s a nice place to have a drink in the bar during sunset(happy hour!) or on the porch facing the coastal bluffs.

My husband and I came here for our last dinner on our anniversary trip in the area. It was pretty quiet in the restaurant, but seemed like it would be a really nice place to stay, and had some exciting items on the menu. I chose the vegetarian pasta with pesto and oven dried tomatoes. It was delectable! My husband has food allergies, but he was able to pick out the lamb shank and roasted vegetables. It was the best meal he had on our trip.

We had spent about ten hours driving, arrived in the dark and fog and had some difficulty finding our hotel. Then we went out in search for a place to eat and stumbled on the 5200 at ten minutes to nine. Luckily for us, Carl took us under his wing. His service was impeccable, the food and cocktails delicious and it was exactly what our family needed. We had the soup of the day, cheese plate, pizza, risotto, and mussels. Each and every thing tasted amazing. We couldn’t have ended up in a bettor place.

Boy do I love this place! I purchased a groupon to give my husband and I a place to fly to for dinner and then to return home. The staff is so absolutely nice, helpful, and friendly! I was just blown away. We had bread, the cheese plate, flammen kuche, french onion soup, penne pasta, and the southwest pancake(can’t remember the name). Everything was so delicious! I again cannot say enough about the service. Then we had a dessert sampler that just was so beautiful, extravagant and soooo decadent. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. We walked out to the gazebo after dinner and it was breath taking and beautiful! We will definitely be coming back soon for a longer stay at the resort. I can see this becoming one of our favorite getaways!

We are so glad that Heritage House has reopened and is delivering such an exceptional restaurant. Excellent service, outstanding food and views that are superb. We had a choice of several restaurants in the area and chose 5200. We weren’t disappointed.

The 5200 Restaurant & Lounge is a wonderful addition to the recently re-opened Heritage House Resort. They just completed a major renovation by creating an open state-of-the-art kitchen. We have dined here three times — once on Christmas, another time in January and again tonight. We had a great experience most times, with only a minor hiccup on the second visit. Though the official menu has limited options for pescetarians(those of us who only eat seafood as our source of meat), they do offer specials. Currently the only seafood entrée on the menu is Pan Seared Red Snapper. Technically there is seafood in the Lobster Mac & Cheese as well,. There are numerous choices for carnivores with Filet of Beef, Veal, Lamb and Duck. We did love the Wild Mushroom Risotto from one of our past visits, which is the best main course for vegetarians. Tonight’s specials helped confirm this as a 5 star rating. They offered 3 soups, of which we had none as we weren’t in the mood for soup. They had a Greek salad, which we shared and enjoyed immensely. And then their entrée specials included a wild caught local salmon(Noyo Harbor) with a purée of peas, asparagus, carrots and potato pancake, a penne pasta with shrimp, crab and a lemon sauce and another entrée that was pork of some sort(didn’t pay much attention…). I don’t want to forget to mention their amazing flatbread appetizers. We ordered the«Mendocino» though substituted gruyère cheese as I don’t like goat cheese. It is amazing! It came out of their new pizza oven. Service is excellent. Stephen, who had been our server on Christmas, is now the manager. Carl and Taylor were our servers and they were very conscientious. It is great to see such a fabulous culinary addition to the area!

The food is excellent! Farm to table. Everything is fresh as can be and very well prepared. Prices are what you’d expect for this kind of meal. Not overly priced. The servings are generous. The decore is comfortable and not pretentious. Our only issue was we were waiting for a specific table and it was given to other guests. But it was a minor thing. They were very apologetic for that inconvenience and we were given a complimentary bottle of wine. We also had a groupon which was an added bonus. We would come back in a heart beat. We had dinner and breakfast and were very pleased with the quality and taste of the food. The focaccia and balsamic and olive oil was delicious! You can tell the balsamic is high quality. I had the tomato, beet and burratta(a kind of soft cheese). Simply delicious. My husband had the pork tenderloin. It was also delicious.
