A random trip to the desert led us to this place. It’s located in the back of the Charlie Brown Farms, a roadside attraction that calls itself a «farm». We walked into the wine tasting room, sadly empty save for a few cases of Cameo’s finest and some must have wine gadgets. I told myself not to judge yet as a recognized the big«A» sign posted on the wall, nestled between two large plastic plants covered with years of dust. Hmmm… well, I’m here for the wine. After about 10 minutes, my friend went up front to inquire if the room was open for business. She was told the gal would be there at 1:00. As it was only 12:15, we decided to browse the wonders of the Kingdom of Charlie Brown. After much ado about nothing, we went back to the wine tasting room at 1:00 only to find ourselves experiencing deja vu. The proprietor never showed. I’ll never know if their wines are good or not. Sadly, I don’t really care.

My friend and I ordered wine from them online about two years ago. I tried to order wine last weekend and their website was down. My friend called and the scoop is, the owner passed away, they are going out of business. But, they still have wine left and it is 25% off, but you have to drive there to get it. My friend told the lady we would come on Saturday. After a lovely two hour drive through the desert, we arrived at Charlie Brown Farms, which is where the tasting room is housed. We walk to the back… and nobody is there. They had about 20 cases of wine left and random bottles all around. We sat down, we waited, nobody showed. My friend went and asked the cashier in the main store where the lady was, she said she would be there at 1pm. So we had 50 minutes to kill. We wandered around the store, went across the street, looked at another store. Returned at 1pm. No lady. We waited until about 1:20, then we called the phone numbers listed on the business cards sitting on the counter. No answers. Asked the cashier again if she could contact the people on their cell phones since we drove two hours to come and taste wine. She told us she had no way to get a hold of her. So, we sat and waited until 2pm. Finally we got over it and just loaded up a cart with the wine we wanted(almost 4 cases!!) and went to the front to buy it. They wouldn’t give us the discount. We were mad, but whatever, we got the wine before they went out of business. Five stars for their wine, but i’m knocking one off since nobody bothered to show up and let us taste or give us the discount. I suppose the rating really doesn’t matter anyways since they will be closed soon.
