Chip Shots Grill and Sports Pub

Groupon had us here for lunch on Memorial Day and it was a pleasant experience. My girlfriend had the steak and cheese sub while enjoyed a delicious chicken fajitas with a side of fries. The place was empty but I suspect that was because it was a holiday. Our Server was extremely attentive and pleasant. Fries were amazing good. Definitely a place we’d like to check out again

Enjoyed this local bar with a townie vibe. Have had takeout once here before, and then ate inside for dinner as well recently. Friendly service and I enjoyed the wings (plain) and steak tips. Surprisingly plentiful options on the menu. Will come again!

4 stars for what I know it’s good. Appetizers are usually all good. Quesidalla and nachos with shredded cheese are great. Stromboli when available is good, pizza is good and burgers are usually very good. Service had always been prompt and nice, it has a pseudo local atmosphere, and a standard selection of beers. They also tend to have interesting specials. A bit pricy with the newer menu.

Since this review, we’ve been back as a family and had a much better experience. The manager also contacted me to apologize and it sounds like this was an isolated incident.

Not bad for a light Friday night meal. Service was good. Wine was plentiful but with stuff floating in it. I ignored it. Burgers were good. Will return maybe even to try out one of the tables. Close to home.

This place is a go to for awesome burgers. Typical sports bar, big screen tvs, air hockey table, and fooseball table. Drinks are reasonable.

Great place to relax and watch a game or a race! Bartenders are awesome and the food is fantastic!

The pulled pork sandwich was all fat and gristle, did not even look like pork. Onion rings were over done in old oil. And that was just one meal out of the four ordered. Don’t waste your time unless all you want to do is sit at the bar and play Keno.

If you want to wait forever, be ignored and be served in chipped dirty glasses this is your place

First of all the glad to see they fixed the halogen bulb in the popcorn maker it had been blown out for years I love popcorn but when it cold and stale not so much even if it is free those bulbs are a few bucks makes me wonder what else they don’t keep up with? Chip shots can be hit or miss some of the staff is GREAT and some you want to run out if there clocked in!(AMANDA) she always makes your drinks in smaller glasses and charges you more for them. I have got the chowder several times it has ranged from really good to just ok to nasty the onion soup could be good but I think they nuke It to melt the cheese. I have gotten salads most of the time were fresh but a couple times the lettuce was wilted one time the waitress warned me not to get salad that day. They have a tasty buffalo wing sauce however I would be remiss if I did not mention that they changed thier breading and though now ok not quite as good as before (CHANGE BACK) I know new breading is better for plain tenders but NOT for buffalo ones by the way the owner is frequently drunk at the bar! But hey he was not cooking or tending bar he does not mind parking his ass at the bar even when a customer could use the stool. They do need to clean! it is on the dirty side they have updated some chairs and tables but they need to clean it looks like a dive bar however the prices are alot higher than a dive bar and alot of dive bars are much cleaner. I have eaten in thier over 20 times not many other places around. It can be a fun place if you like karioki or a late night stop.
The clam chowder had globs of tastless flower all throughout sign of an inexperienced or lazy cook dissolve flour in cool water before adding, whisk in flour/​water mixture slowly it should not clump up on you!!!
Who’s Michael? The owner will rant at you and threaten to expose on fb or LinkedIn that you drink in HIS bar if he does not like your review.
sSorry Dave I stand by my review even if my name is not Michael but that rant you wrote to him… Were YOU drunk at YOUR bar when YOU wrote it? Maybe YOU should spend less time defending your reviews and more time maintaining and cleaning YOUR filthy resturaunt.

Traveling through town and decided to stop for a bite to eat. Had speedy service, friendly staff and our food came out ASAP! Chili cheese fries were perfect! I would definitely come here again.

My wife and I recently decided to go to Chipshots for Friday night pizza because she really likes their delicious pizza crust. After a couple rounds of drinks, my wife thought the pizza should’ve arrived within 35 minutes… boy were we WRONG!!! After querrying our excellent server on the status of our pizza, we were extremely disappointed to learn they cook their pizzas in a toaster oven one at a time and we apparently had ten pizzas in que prior to our order. Needless to say I payed for our drinks and went elsewhere for dinner where we didn’t have to wait hours for a pizza.

As a business evaluator, objective & constructive in my reviews. Upon entering the restaurant, there was a fire department size fan (blades & cage were dirty) blowing air from one room into the bar/​dining area, not sure why. Very pleasant server greeted and seated us. The menus we were given were sticky, torn, had spill marks on the pages. The front cover had a hole in the plastic and between the plastic and the paper were hairs. Server was very attentive, pleasant, neat in appearance & helpful. When asked, she said the onion rings were homemade. The kitchen may have told her that, but the onion rings I was served, were not homemade. I make enough of them to know. Our food arrived in a timely manner (BBQ ribs/​pulled pork) The food was nice and hot, the portion was good for the price. The atmosphere was dark, the interior of the room looked like a work in progress with unfinished lumber framing the entrance to the bar. Floors, tables, menus needed some cleaning which makes me wonder about the kitchen. The servers were dressed neatly, very casual, with sleeveless red tank tops, black legging style pants. One server had Ugg style casual slippers/​shoes. Very much a hangout for «regulars», but you still feel welcome even if you’re not one. The owner/​owners should look at these comments to help improve their pub and get new customers to return to a clean, bright space to spend lots of money on their food and drinks.

As a new resident of Ayer I went to this place for the first time recently thinking it would be a good place to watch football and have some food but man was I wrong.
My first impression was that the place was nasty looking and dirty. It looks like they started to rehab the place and stopped. I almost walked right out when I didn’t see anyone eating but I wanted to give it a chance because every once in a while the food can be good in little dumps like this. Not this time.
I sat at the bar and ordered two apps because apparently they are two for one when the red sox are on. I decided to order something simple (wings and a quesadilla) and should have known it was a bad sign when the bartender didn’t even know that they had their own house sauce for the wings. When I ordered them with the «house sauce» she looked at me like I was speaking an alien language (I had to show her the menu to prove to her that they call it their own sauce).
While I was waiting for my food, a rough looking guy came out from the kitchen and poured himself a stiff drink and went back inside the kitchen. Not a good sign that stoves and pans are getting cleaned at the end of the night.
Well the wings eventually came and they were not good at all. They use very poor quality wings. They were small and the meat was dry and brown and on top of that, they were over cooked and over sauced. The sauce wasn’t terrible but for me not to eat all of my wings… that’s really saying something. The quesadilla was bland and dry and didn’t taste fresh at all. It just had previously (over cooked) fried chicken tenders and cheese inside and it came with disgusting, old looking salsa and sour cream. Yuck! Good thing they were half price because I threw most of it away.
Well I thought to myself… at least I can enjoy the game and have a beer… WRONG! There was no volume on the tv. They have the TV’s muted and the small crowd that was there was so loud and drunk that I couldn’t even hear myself think. I’m glad they were having a good time… probably because they didn’t waste any money on the food. The beer was the only good thing about this place because it was cold. Oh God I hope someone opens a decent pub in Ayer before I lose my mind.

The staff is very nice. Been here a couple times. The food is very good. Went for karaōke recently and they had no updated songs. Found out the owner has not updated the book in the last year. Besides the karaōke book this place is very nice.

Chip Shots is a solid place to grab a drink, sing some karaōke, or play some virtual golf. Been going here since I turned 21 and it never disappoints.
Prices are great, staff is friendly, & there is plenty of parking!

my sister lives a few blocks from this place and I always come here when I visit my sister, especially when they started serving BBQ!
only really had take-​out from here, but the food was great!

that with some of their spicy BBQ sauce is one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. and the bread they use is just perfect. I could literally eat like 10 of those… in a day.

Came here for the first time, post snowstorm. Needless to say, not terribly populated, but still a damn good time. And had me a delicious salad with grilled chicken. Yup.
Karaōke Thursday-​Saturday. Hell yeah. Granted I can’t sing for shit, so I just awkwardly watched. But still. Whatever. It was quite entertaining.
Then there was the waiter. Maddy.
This guy.
Killed it. My glass was never empty and he even rocked the mic. Multiple times. That’s right, while waiting tables. What?
Definitely will be back. In fact… I’m there now, writing this review, place is packed. Pizza is great by the way. Get it. Like five of them.
Anyways, five stars. Come here ‘n stuff.

Slowest service in the world. I sat for 45 minutes to get the appetizer. Wings were OK when they came but drenched in sauce. I ordered the ribs, they were BAD… again, sauce was really bad, ribs were completely overcooked and tasted like they came from a microwave. Megan had the brisket, it was fill of uncooked fat, again like out of a package and into the microwave. I am not even going to bother mentioning the sides, they are not worth talking about.
This place just needs to close. If we were not there for someones birthday party I just would have left.

Having recently moved to the area, we had to check out the place closest to us to eat. We were unimpressed when we went in 2011, but like others, saw the new BBQ sign and gave them another shot.
There is nothing special about the food except its high prices for the area. I’d definitely consider coming here to drink at the bar and watch a game, but I’m just as happy to go to Nashoba Pizza club down the road and make a longer walk home because I know I’m getting good grub there and fairer prices.
Again, I haven’t found anything WRONG here, just nothing inspiring enough to mention either. (though people who bring their kids and let them run back and forth yelling to the video games did not impress me).
