This place was a good riding school when Cory and Jean were the only instructors. Then when they got selfish and wanted to free up their time to attend horse shows they started to bring in new teachers and didn’t even notify the students. You’d show one day to find out you’d been placed into a semi-private or group class with an instructor you knew nothing about. One of them loved to crack a whip at the lazier horses, causing a student I shared a few classes to fall off her horse more than once when he would kick out at the whip. She quit not long after. Was this instructor never screened? There was also another instructor who was just plain nasty and had a Napoleon complex going on. When I requested to be switched back to Cory for private lessons, I was informed that he was only teaching students who were actually boarding their horse at the barn. Was my money not good enough? I’ve also seen horses hit in the face at this establishment, when their very behavior was due to being hit earlier in the day. When I switched to another barn, I also discovered that many of the techniques I’d been taught at Newbury were just plain wrong and more importantly, dangerous. I’ve learned far more about compassionate horse care and riding since. By the way, when Jean is seen riding casually around the premises, she NEVER wears a helmet. Not exactly a good model for safety practices. She is a ditz and Cory is a bigtime snob and the two of them are completely inept when it comes to running a business and caring for their clients.

Newbury Farm is a great place for horseback riding lessons and boarding. I met Cory, one of the owners, in line at Dunkin Donuts one day and my daughters have been riding there ever since. Its very clean and offers both indoor and outdoor riding. The girls love lessons with Cory and Jean and I’m happy they keep my kids safe while they have fun. Highly recommend Newbury Farm!
