I used to love Popeye’s when I lived in New Orleans, home of the founder, Al Copeland. Their food was always hot, fresh and juicy. I think Al must have sold the business or retired because the Popeye’s of today is certainly not the same. We’ve had some bad experiences at this local Popeye’s. The portions are skimpy and they often get the order all wrong, as they did today. There’s no excuse for such carelessness. Why so skimpy on the red beans and rice? We stopped here for supper tonight and I ordered a side of my favorite red beans and rice. The little container was not even half full! Come on, Popeyes, why can’t you fill it up? You used to!

Disappointing! We love Popeyes, especially the red beans and rice, so we stopped by while visiting Livingston for«to go» to take home for dinner. The 12 piece meal was an astounding $ 28! As usual the chicken was excellent, as were the biscuits. Unfortunately the red beans and rice was terrible — just dry rice. There was barely enough beans in the mix to even provide any color and it tasted pretty bad. Neither of us could eat it. Did I mention disappointing? Finally, the service was awful. We pulled up to the window to pay and the young lady had our order ready and bagged up. As she went to hand it to us the manager pulled her off and sent her somewhere else in the store, turned his back to us, and started talking on the phone. It apparently didn’t bother him to leave us sitting there in the 90 degree heat with our order within arms reach. And there we sat. And sat. Finally a young man came over and finished checking us out. We’ll go to Popeye’s again, but not this one.

The chicken is on par with the best of the franchises. The service here was great. Friendly, prompt and helpful with getting me what I needed to get on my way.
