Love the sesame chicken. Real chicken and the fried rice was really good. Wish there was more sauce on the sesame chicken though. I got a dinner combo and the portion was huge. Love it! Chicken lo mein was different from what I expected with the small noodles. Good amount of veggies in it too. Egg roll was also tasty. I got some plum sauce too. All good! It’s a small place with 2 tables that you could eat at, but it’s cramped and I wouldn’t. There’s a small counter where you pay for your food. Seemed fairly clean and the people were nice. Online ordering was easy and simple. They don’t have online payment, which would be nice, but I’ll definitely be ordering again! Food was ready in about 20 minutes.

Thanks to all the helpers that recommended this place. I have been looking for a Chinese takeout in Livonia and I’m so happy I finally found one just down the street from my home. I ordered the general Tao based on other reviewers and it did not disappoint. As others have said the portions are huge and the chicken is cooked perfectly! And that sauce! A different twist to what I’ve had before but in a great way! The prices are more than reasonable. The people that work there were really nice and I will definitely be back!

General tso is out of this world. Generally enough food for at least two meals. Orders ready quickly

Great value, large portion, good quality. No dining room. Cleanliness of lobby and a peek into the kitchen make one a little suspicious… but it was good and I came back once more. Very friendly folks. Go ahead and get yourself a big bag of take out.

I tried, I tried to give this place a chance by going once again, but I just do not enjoy their sweet and sour chicken or egg too young. Their friendly, they give you a lot for the money, but I can’t get my arms around the taste of their food. Happy Garden is so much better in the area.

Boneless BBQ ribs– not my thing. Yuck :(it’s pork slices then basted in a sweet red BBQ type sauce… Not my thing. Chicken lomein very very sparse on the chicken. The noodles were very thin. The dish reminded me of ramen noodles. The dish had a deep chicken broth flavor. I’ve nor had lomein like this. Usually I’ve had it with a thicker noodle, veggies– chicken and a light oil/broth taste. So note that this place may not make ro mein like you’ve had it somewhere else. The veggie fried rice was faaaaaaantastic. So good. Loads of my fave veggies– they omitted veggies I don’t eat. Soooo good and coded perfectly. I wish they made an awesome chinese chicken salad…

After just one meal from here I can tell you for certain I will be back. I ordered the #12 dinner combo and my wife ordered the #3 along with egg drop soup and vegetable soup. The servings were HUGE! I am pretty big eater and ate probably half of my dinner. The total price was $ 20 and compared to other places we have tried I think it is very fair. It is not a dine-in type of restaurant, carry-out only. Also, although my visit inside was quick the staff was very friendly.

Have you been searching high and low for a cheap Chinese takeout joint that isn’t crap or overpriced? If you’re in the Livonia-Detroit/Livonia border, look no further Unilocalers! At Middlebelt and Six Mile, there is a gem from the non-authentic orient that truly will rock your socks. Last night I ordered a General Tso’s dinner platter and crab rangoon. It was a few minutes before closing, but the lady at thw counter was still welcoming. She asked how spicy I wanted it, which was a nice gesture. I asked how long it would be and she said 10 minutes. Well, it ended up being about 30. There had been a customer before me who made a very large order, and then there was issues with the credit card he was trying to use, so I do not hold the wait against them. When she handed me the bag, I already knew this place was special. It was HEAVY, and yet I had only ordered one dinner and an appetizer. Once I got home, I figured out why it was so heavy — the portion was HUGE. A dinner combo could easily feed 2 – 3 people, and not even a seriously gluttonous person could finish it in one sitting. The General Tso’s Chicken was very good. It had large chunks of chicken, plenty of fried rice and since I requested spicy, it had a nice kick. The egg roll that came with it was interesting — the filling was ground meat and heavy on the bean sprouts. It wasn’t the greatest egg roll I have ever had, but it did the trick. Dinner also came with 2 Chinese donuts which were om nom nom. The crab ragoon, though. Holy soy sauce, these things were good!!! They were huge and filled with plenty of imitation crab/cream cheese goodness. These were definitely the best crab ragoon ever… and you must try them. You must. Back to that dinner combo… I had plenty of leftovers, so I had a bowl for breakfast and a bowl for lunch, and it was almost as good as it was last night. For a $ 8.95 combo, this was such a good value. China Kitchen is the only takeout place I am going to for now on. They even have some Thai dishes, which I look forward to trying. You can tell they take pride in their work and they don’t just slap something together, for that I am happy to support this local business. Keep up the awesome work China Kitchen! I will be back!

China Kitchen Express… It’s a little hole in the wall carry out like the other 50 Chinese places in Livonia. Here’s the thing… the Tso’s is fantastic… not hot enough, even if you ask for extra hot like I do, but no one else will do it either so I guess that’s a wash. They have a lunch special before 4 that’ll feed 2! Chicken is crispy, tangy, and has enough sauce. I’ll go nowhere else. They are friendly, fast, reasonably priced, and delicious… Hey… worth a shot… you’ll be back!

It’s great place to get takeout order. The service it’s excellent and friendly, it just needs to play more with the menu and food flavors because it’s no so tasty and sometimes they put to much msg. Overall it’s great place to try.

Huge amount for me as other people describe. I’m tiny, one order will last for my 3 meals plus. Moo Shu Pork tastes great with white rice. I will visit here again for sure.

I have been here two or three times this year and I think they are quite good. I am EXTREMELY picky about General Tso’s chicken, and in general I dont like most Chinese places. I’m tired of all these old dumpy restaurants around town that have been operating since 1974, with the same crappy décor from 1974, that make General Tso’s chicken a sickly sweet soggy sludge. Now, China Kitchen Express is just a carryout place, and these guys do the General right… crispy and the perfect amount of zing. And very generous portions. The chef has cooked at other notable places around town so I get the impression he has a modern understanding of taste. I wish him the best of luck, he has my vote!

5 stars for a great $ 5 lunch special Ordered the broccoli and chicken combo, it was great — The sauce was just right, good amount of chicken, there was a lot of nice looking perfectly cooked fresh broccoli, a bit of fried rice, decent egg roll, and a fortune cookie and… a little fresh /hot doughnut in sugar! It was a great lunch for two and was ready pretty quick(under 10 mins). I look forward to another take out option vs my old favorite of china house inn :)

Well China Kitchen changed hands about a year after my original review calling themselves«New China Kitchen, then lasted a few years to only close about 6 months ago. This place then re-opened once again as «Express China Kitchen». The number associated with this places is wrong, but is the only one that comes up on a simple Google search… so ordering is tough… but i’m here for you(1−734−425−9888) They do have a number on the sign in front, but I always think about it after it is behind me, and when stopping in to order the other day, I didn’t grab one of their cards. Now for the food, I ordered the sesame chicken(medium) and it was decent… not fantastic, not awful… just good. The white rice was dry but the won-ton soup was amazing. There was so much food I had enough to eat it for dinner the next day as well. All in all, this place is good and I will give it another go.
