Sanders has been around since 1875, so they must be doing something right. This location is inside the mall. Cute little store with lots of unique food and gift items. We tried their renowned ice cream puff. We were so indecisive about ice cream flavors that the wonderful girl behind the counter offered to split up our cream puff so we each get to choose an ice cream flavor, which ended up being lemon green tea and superman. The cream puffs shells were then smothered with Sanders’ chocolate sauce, which was a little too sweet for my taste. The lemon green tea ice cream was amazing though and they offer super cute water cups to quench your thirst.

I grew up with the hot fudge cream puffs & bumpy cake. When I visit home this is my go to spot. Loved it then and love it now.

I love this place! The ice cream is fresh and creamy. No freezer burned stuff here! Oh and the hot fudge is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Nothing compares. My favorite is the hot fudge cream puff. If I could eat one of these every day without gaining tons of weight I would! They also sell candy and cookies.

Nothing says«home«to me more than a Sanders hot fudge or caramel sundae. So it is not wonder that every time I am back in the Detroit area, I make a bee line for this Sanders store(located in the Laurel Park Place mall) and pick myself up a few jars t carry me over to my next visit! The store is located just inside the entrance between Max and Ermas and Bar Louie. They have a complete soda fountain and ice cream shop but for this girl, most of the time I don’t wait but grab what I need and make my sundaes at home. The prices are reasonable, the service is quick and I am in and out in no time at all. And carrying the jars wrapped in the special white bags reminds me of the people walking out of liquor stores with their«vice» wrapped in plain paper. Do I have a «hot fudge addiction» ???Maybe I do!

During the summer, they are running an ice cream special, half off all fountain items from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Sanders hot fudge is the best hot fudge in the world. Of course, the hot fudge sundaes here are just a tad overpriced. And the service, at least when there is a crowd, is not very friendly. Still, if you’re at the mall, you have to stop here. Otherwise, buy a bunch of jars of fudge and have a Sanders experience in the friendlier confines of your home.

We really enjoyed our trip down memory lane at Sander’s! The hot fudge ice cream puff was just as delicious as I remember. The prices were reasonable and the service was decent. So why only four stars? What prevented me from getting lost in the moment was the décor. It should get updated, er, downdated, er, made too look more like an old fashioned ice cream parlor. When you go to Johnny Rockets, so much of it is for the ambiance. Having that ambiance at Sanders would go a long way to making it a really special place.

Sanders is a staple of tradition in the Detroit metro area… right up there with Hudsons and Woodward Ave. This chain rolled up the bumpy cakes and cream puffs years ago and shut down operations, then low and behold… re-emerged as a Morley Candy Makers owned company offering all the original recipes and formulas under the Sanders brand. On a recent visit I had the traditional Sanders hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and a cherry. Its usually after going out to dinner on the occasion that I hit a place like this, and aside of being stuffed from dinner, this was a terrific visit. Of course this is not the same as the original stores, but the flavor, cleanliness, price, offerings(most), and the service, was nearly exactly the same as was the case in the old days. For those looking to re-connect with a but of history and confectionery goodness, as well as those who could care less but are looking to just get a good sundae… then I would recommend this place to you!
