First, the reason I gave this place 3 stars is that I’m not a «fan» of clocks as a 4 star would imply. This small museum in Lockhart has a decent number of vintage clocks and watched dating back almost 2 hundred years. Each large clock has a placard next to it providing details as to provenance, year it was built/used, and any other pretinent historical information. The museum is quite small and not air conditioned(FYI). We were the only visitors in the museum on a Saturday afternoon. As a result, the 2 young men followed us around and were eager to answer any questions we might have had. There’s a visitor log book in the front and you can stuff a few bucks in their donation jar should the mood strike.

While taking a break from the barbecue joints and antiques shops of Lockhart, take a few minutes to check out this funky little museum in the old bank building right on the historic courthouse square. It’s not a particularly big place, but it’s crammed with cool specimens of timepieces from the last few centuries. One of the friendly docents will be happy to explain any of the clocks, many of which have fascinating histories. The back of the museum is also a repair shop in case you have any clocks or watches that need work.
