I found this cute salon on groupon for a keratin and cut! Patti was so great, she took her time on my treatment and explained to me with great detail on the aftercare of the treatment. She also did a great job on my cut and respected my wishes for keeping my hair long but cut all the dead ends off. Overall I am very satisfied with my keratin treatment and I will be returning for another one in 4 – 5 months :)

Mavida hair salon is super! I just had the keratin treatment done by Patti, she is beyond sweet and so is Cheryl. The keratin treatment is not a hair straightener its a frizz helper. I would recommend going to this salon for your hair care needs. They are honest and friendly. I will be going back in 5 – 6 months for the keratin treatment again. Please take my advice and go you will love your hair after.

I went to Mavida for the first time in February after buying a Groupon for Keratin and haircut.
Cheryl, the owner did my hair. She explained me right away and before doing anything that the Brazilian keratin treatment will not make my hair completely straight but brighten them, nourish them and facilitate the straightening process.
I have very curly and dry hair so I did not expect much but the treatment really made them look beautiful. I was really satisfied and went back yesterday for the second treatment (after 4 months!). Cheryl accepted to take my appointment even though it was expected to last after her regular working hours, which I really appreciated due to my busy working schedule.
I really recommend this place !

I bought a groupon for a keratin treatment. I did my very first keratin treatment last year and loved it! I chose this salon for two reasons: they use the same keratin treatment that I used last year (la brasiliana) and it got fairly good reviews. I gave this review 2 stars because the owner, who happened to apply the keratin, is very nice. The staff at the salon seemed overall nice but that didn’t mean that I got what I wanted. The whole treatment lasted less than an hour and a half which I thought was very unusual. I had told Sheryl, the owner, that my keratin last year took almost 4 hours. She told me that it didn’t take that long. She applied the keratin (from a bowl, I never saw the actual product bottle) in large chunks of hair as opposed to smaller sections. She straightened my hair just as I normally would, again, not it smaller sections. I went home and waited the required 24 hours. I showered and washed my hair accordingly– using sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. My hair began to dry and I started to notice that the frizz was setting in and that my hair felt and looked just like it normally is without any products. I was so upset and frustrated! Nothing had changed after the keratin treatment. I’m posting a pic of the moment my hair fully dried after the keratin this time around vs last year’s. They look absolutely nothing alike. I’m posting a pic of the day after (just sleeping on top of my hair) and again you can tell that something isn’t right. I didn’t use ANY products on my hair last year after my keratin, not even a straightener. Not sure what Mavida salon used on my hair but it was not la brasiliana keratin that’s supposed to last 3 months. On the bright side I got a full refund from groupon.
Side note– I called la brasiliana office/​headquarters to ask whether or not it was safe for me to redo my keratin after a failed attempt. I learned from them that this salon doesn’t show up on their records as certified to apply the keratin (meaning that they never took courses on la brasiliana treatment)

I’ve been going to Sheryl for years and have always been so happy with my haircut. Just went in yesterday for a body wave and I am so happy that when I got up this morning it was exactly how I wanted it easy to take care of perfect wave. I am thrilled.

Since I moved back to jersey I had a very hard time finding someone I trusted to do my hair, that is until I went to Melissa. I had gone to another salon to get my hair cut and when I got home I realized that my hair was VERY uneven. I went to Melissa and she listened to exactly what I wanted and made sure I was 100% satisfied before leaving her chair. I went back for an ombré a few months later & of course she gave me exactly what I expected, once again! I have been going to this salon for all my hair styling needs for a very long time. Cheryl, the owner, will do anything to make her customers happy. Melissa does my hair; I have gone to her for years, as well as Party… she cuts my sons and his father’s hair. I love this salon! I don’t trust anyone else!

I love this salon especially since my favorite stylist works here Melissa. If you have long, short, whatever type of hair, Melissa will have you feeling glamorous. Everyone here is always sweet and this is a great salon to go to with very reasonable prices.

Patti has done the Keratin treatment on my hair twice. Great service, professional and convenient hours. Open on Sunday. Highly recommend.

I called Sunday at 1030 am and asked how much was a blow out and if it was possible to do same day. The person who answered the phone was very very pleasant (which later I found out was the owner) She told me to come in at 11am to have blow out done by Melissa. I was a few minutes late and when I walked in everyone was so pleasant. Melissa did an amazing job on my hair. She was so easy to talk to she listened to how I wanted it done and even answered my questions about my daughter hair. I HIGHLY recommend Mavida Salon. I found my new place now. I went to this salon today for the first time and a long overdue color job on my hair. I found them on Groupon and I was not sure what to expect. When I first walked in I was extremely nervous about the salon and process, results but … Katie was fabulous… She explained and consulted with me on every step and what my options were, and I felt very comfortable.
I am extremely happy with the final results and am going back next week for highlights and it is all because of Katie and her professional way she took the time to make me feel comfortable.

Yesterday was my first time in the salon. I read some reviews on the salon and saw that Melissa was highly recommended. She did an amazing job on my full highlights, cut and blowdry! I could not be happier.

I had a great experience ! I was running about 10 minutes late but they were still so friendly towards me when I walked in. I decided to get my hair dyed a dark dark brown. I was a little hesitant but my hairdresser helped answer any questions I had and helped boost my confidence. i am glad i listened to her because I LOVE it.
I enjoyed the whole process, and they kept the doors open in the front which was so nice because we got to feel the breeze from outside as she was doing my hair.
The price is extremely fair.
I have been living in north jersey for years now, I usually only get my hair done from groupon or living social deals (how i found this place) but now I can finally say I found my go-​to place. I will be calling in a few weeks to get it touched up again!

I went to this salon a few days ago with a groupon for deep conditioning and haircut. I normally hate getting my haircut because I’ve never found a hairstylist that actually listen to what I want and I always end up with a too short cut with a style that I hate. I called them at around 4:00pm and managed to get an appointment for 5:30pm on the same day. When I came in, I was introduced to Katie and immediately my nervousness went away. So incredibly nice and she seemed to understand exactly what I wanted. I came in with hair almost down to my waist with a lot of damage due to bleach, permanent dye, and no trims and normally stylists see this and just chop it all off claiming that they are just getting rid of the «damage» no matter how much I say I want to keep the length. Katie didn’t. After deep conditioning and washing my hair and putting me at ease with conversation, she showed me exactly up to where my split ends are that she recommends I cut and then I can choose from there where I want the longest layers to be. I am so happy with the cut, length, and styling. Even after I washed my hair the next day, the cut is so great that I don’t even really need to style it. Plus the best part is my hair is now healthy and soft and she didn’t need to chop it all off to achieve it. I now found a new place to go anytime I have any hair needs. :)

Just have to shout out to my girl Melissa for her amazing color expertise and special occasion do’s…I’ve been going to her forever and she always has me looking on my A-game…Special shout out to Sophie with her amazing cuts (my relief pitcher) and Patti who keeps me entertained in my chair while I wait… Glad that they are all at Mavida!

This review is long overdue and mainly for their color stylist, Melissa. I have been going to her now for over 13 years, even when she was at her previous business. Melissa is extremely talented in what she does. Over the years, I have gotten numerous compliments on my highlights. As an indian-​american woman, highlights for dark brown/​black hair is tricky. You don’t want something that’s brash and contrasts with your skin tone, but rather want something that’s blends in. When I went to her back in 2002, I was anxious about changing my hair and I LOVED what she did! I trust her wholeheartedly. She did my highlights right before my wedding and the pictures came out amazing. I also like this new location, some of the other hair stylists moved over with her, and they are very good as well. Everyone is friendly, It’s easy to get to, usually plenty of parking – it’s your typical jersey salon and I love it!

This place is a disaster.
Things need to improve

— lack of organization
— does not have enough coat rack for everyone
— no place for personal belongings
— water splashes every where when people get Thor hair wash
— rough hair wash
— not good with blow dry with curl
— not helpful, didn’t even hold the the door for an elder lady to exit the store
I hope this store can get on top their stuff.
I won’t come back again. I had a terrible experience.
