Husband & I moved to UT about 6 wks ago and have consistently sought local cuisine. We’re finding it to be different from what we’re accustomed, and Bluebird was no exception. Ate there around 3P on New Year’s Eve; place consistently busy and advertising an evening buffet with multiple proteins that looked amazing. We were seated immediately and waitress brought us fresh yeast rolls to eat while she took our drink order. We had looked at other diners’ food as we were escorted to our table and noticed the salads all looked fresh and the sandwiches huge. He opted for the Strawberry Chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy, veggies and a dinner salad w/French dressing. I opted for a 6 oz bacon wrapped filet cooked rare(mooing) w/rice pilaf, veggies, & the dinner salad w/French dressing. The yeast rolls were amazing! Husband asked if they made them in house, to which our waitress, Melynda, responded yes. He asked for another and she brought him one. Our salads came out quickly, were fresh, had the dressing on the side and plenty of it, so they were eaten with gusto. Husband’s chicken was something I NEVER would have thought to do, and I experiment often with food: 4 large strawberries halves with strawberry glaze poured over a grilled chicken breast. In other words, the breasts were not grilled with the sauce, but rather dressed with the sauce. The combination of flavors was very good, and the chicken very tender. Mashed potatoes had white gravy on them, which was not what we expected but he enjoyed them. My steak was cooked perfectly and I ate all of it. The pilaf did not have veggies in it as I’m used to eating but had great texture & flavor. We couldn’t finish our food so took the veggies and the rice to go as easy leftover sides for us to use with another protein when we cook at home this week. When Melynda brought the check, we explained we would be buying some of their homemade chocolates on the way out and she said we could take our bill and they would add the chocolate to it when we paid. The hardest thing for me to articulate is how impressed I was with Melynda’s service. She was efficient, informative and not intrusively chatty. She wasn’t bouncing around like a fake Barbie and didn’t act as if the job was put upon her. She handled multiple tables with multiple diners with a calm demeanor. Having been in the food, beverage and restaurant business on and off for years, I found myself fixated on a service level I’ve only seen in country clubs. While our food was good, the menu had a lot of «standards,» as well as some surprises as described above, but we will be back with the hope Melynda will be our server, because this was an enjoyable meal enhanced by her service, and service is always the breaking point for a restaurant.

Fantastic meal served to us yesterday for Thanksgiving! All the traditional food. The serving were too much for one meal. Perfect we all got to take home leftovers for our own Thanksgiving leftovers. No kitchen cleanup. Price per person $ 7.99 included free slice of fresh out of the oven pumpkin pie. Arias gave us spectacular service!

We’ve gone to the Bluebird a number of times, whenever we’re in Cache Valley. BUT, things sure have changed. While it’s still a lovely place, you could take a nice, long nap waiting for your order. I guess the food’s not too bad, considering the new owners, but how would I know after waiting for well over an hour and never saw our order. What good is a restaurant/café if they can’t serve you? It’s time to try somewhere else… atmosphere may be nice, but have your food order arrive would be nicer. Bye, bye, birdie. Kenn Morris Los Angeles

This is a really good restaurant. Not because of the service. The service is nice and good. But ordinary. I like the food. Especially the trout. It’s housed in a nice building with antique wood work and a nice high celling. And it’s peaceful and quiet too. I never buy the candy. It’s overpriced.

I had a 6 oz sirloin steak that was so tough it prompted this review. It was awful, it had no flavor either. My wife and kids all had the bluebird chicken which they enjoyed, and my 4 year old had a grilled cheese that was rubber-ish, lots of real cheese is made in Logan, they should pick some up at Gossners, Come for the large portions of chicken, stay away if you want steak.

I took my mother here to relive time spent time in Logan when my dad/her husband was at Utah State. It’s a dated restaurant with basic comfort food, but her memories of eating here are irreplaceable. They have a candy/fudge counter. Employees were friendly.

The restaurant is in a historic building. It’s quite fancy but the food was really average. They offer traditional American comfort food. However, i feel like the menu and the recipes need to be revamped a bit. Their mashed potatoes tasted like it came from a box, nothing special. It almost feels like the chef only put in half hearted effort when cooking the food. I gave it 3 star because my husband ordered the prime rib and he thought that was flavorful.

Went to bluebird with my wife, Father-in-law, and uncle-in-law. My wife’s grandma used to live in Logan and even worked at the bluebird back in the 1930s/1940s so it was a must stop at during our time in Utah. We sat down and was greeted by the waitress carrying fluffy buns. It was probably the best/most fluffy bread I’ve ever gotten at a restaurant. So good I asked for a second. On the menu they have classic diner food. For lunch I ordered the prime rib sandwich and it was very good. It came with a cream cheese spread that worked very well with the sandwich. I will admit I was skeptical of cream cheese with prime rib, but boy was I wrong about that. For the side I got potato salad, which was also delicious. They had many other sides to choose from as well. We couldn’t pass up dessert so I got the mud pie. I was expecting a chocolate silk pie style pie, but it was minty ice cream/pie on an Oreo crust. It was sooooo good. Other desserts ordered were strawberry milkshake, regular strawberry ice cream and a rocky road sundae. Everything was eaten in its entirety, so that explains how yummy it was. The service we had was above average. Drinks were never empty and questions about the menu were answered very well. And I got a second fluffy bun, which is a plus :] Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and cool to go to a place that family worked at long before I was alive. Will hopefully be back sometime in the future when we are in the area. Signing off, Bretzlaf

Food is just ok. Nothing special. Bluebird’s appeal is the old timey soda fountain/ice cream shoppe and the chocolates you can buy at the counter. Come for dessert only!

Service was okay, not bad but not great. We came to eat dinner here after hearing about it from other people. The food was just okay. We came for dinner and the salad and soup was really good. I got a 6oz sirloin and sweet and sour chicken. Really interesting combo but since Asian people own it I figured it had to be good? Well it was just a weird combo. I need rice for the sweet and sour chicken. The sirloin steak was yummy to me though! The mashed potatoes had no flavor and the gravy tasted a lot of black pepper. My husband got the steak Oscar. With French fries. It also came with carrots. The steak was really tough and the mixtures of hollandaise and seafood was disgusting to him. He didn’t even want to finish it, it was that gross. It’s not worth coming back to try anything else on the menu to us.

I’ve only been here three times but I’ve never been disappointed. I like the variety of food that I can order and it is always been good to my tummy. Love the candy bar too. English toffee is the best.

We stopped at the Bluebird Restaurant for dessert one evening and enjoyed ice cream sundaes at their historic soda fountain. I can’t speak for the food but the ice cream was A-OK and I enjoyed the ambience of the old restaurant.

At this day in age when a restaurant makes a grilled cheese I would expect them to use real cheese and not Kraft Singles. Don’t cheap out. I got that for my kids and for my wife and I we got steaks. Medium rare steaks and while they were pink on the inside there was zero seasoning, they were hard as hell and the knife they gave me could hardly cut through the steak. Sad experience, I will not be back. The only thing I liked was the bread. The chocolate cake was dry and pathetic. How this restaurant remains in business is beyond me.

Visited with my wife on a trip to Logan. The atmosphere is truly nostalgic and worth visiting for. The staff was absolutely delightful. On their suggestion I had the Ultimate Rib Sandwich which lived up to its grand name. We will certainly be back.

Okay, this is classic old fashioned diner food. I had a salad, cup of soup. My friend had barbecue beef sandwich, with onion rings. He loved the real cream soda. The ambiance is dark wood, with a large soda fountain. Of note, the bathrooms are older, not ADA accessible. We enjoyed the food. No one under 60 in the place. The service was fast, courteous. However, I do wish waitresses did not have a nose ring. We had no chocolate, but it looked good.

THEARBY’S OFSIT-DOWNRESTAURANTS. Did someone say«Asian fusion»? Well, apparently they did at some point because it’s the only explanation for the Bluebird’s bizarre and awfully mediocre version of fried chicken and mashed potato — which is basically just a depressing version of Panda Express alongside instant mashed potato, costing twice the price of your average faux-Chinese food. I got«English Fish & Chips» which certainly did not resemble anything from the motherland, and is quite frankly treason as far as I’m concerned. My fiancé got the Steak Oscar, and as a result, I have had to start brainstorming new names for my car, Oscar. It arrived cold, undercooked, and barely seasoned. The only redeeming quality of the Bluebird is the cherry Iron Ports, which are delicious. Their soda/ice cream bar has a nice charm. Just don’t step past the threshold into the restaurant area, or you’ll be left upset and crying into the kids Coldstone ice cream you’ll drown your sorrows with after you leave.(Kids, because that’s all you’ll be able to afford after splurging on such mediocrity.

This is a classic restaurant here in Logan, the food is alright but I’m a fan of the ice cream soda bar and chocolates they sell right at the front of the store. The waitress got right to us, however she wasn’t very charming, which is a huge selling point for me! I mean, c’mon, ten of us just walked in here and are willing to pay good money if you offer us suggestions and smile. She did make our sundaes very well, I will give her that. Almost all of us got the«Double Devil» which is a brownie, hot fudge, ice cream sundae topped with whipped cream, peanuts, and a cherry. It was very rich and I couldn’t finish it, but boy did if satisfy my craving! The bathrooms were clean, and the food I did see coming out looked fine. Maybe one day I’ll have dinner there, but for now I’m sticking with the treats and soda – both of which are a blast from the past. TIPS&TRICKS: * If you do choose to sit at the bar, there are convenient hangers on the side of the wall, allowing you to hang up your coat and/or purse if you do desire. It was especially convenient because you sit on bar stools, so there is really no place to hang your gear. * Alvey’s Chocolates. Seriously, purchase some on your way out. * Park in the back, there are LOTS of spots. Do not park on the road, Main Street, you will almost never find a place. Again, park in the back and you can even go through their backdoor to get to the restaurant.

For this kind of venue, the food is a total disappointment. The staff is friendly, the candy bar is great, but otherwise pretty mediocre.

A restaurant disguised as a café up front, this place has a nostalgic soda fountain/lunch counter serving sundaes and handmade malts. We went in expecting a diner and were pleasantly surprised. We had a variety of foods ranging from chicken fingers and burgers to steak sandwiches and my chicken cordon bleu. I was quite happy with my food, being a few steps above your average franchise-type table service restaurant. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the vegetables crisp and not too over-seasoned. My one minor issue was the potatoes. They were saltier than I prefer, but not terrible. The staff was friendly and service was good. We’ll certainly stop in again, especially for their awesome desserts!

This is was the wort restaurant experience i have had in logan by far. The food was awful. It was just«add water» gravy and the mashed potatoes were defiantly just potato flakes. We ordered the blue bird chicken expecting fried american food, and instead we got a Chinese dish with a side of mashed potatoes. WHAT? For some place that was extremely talked up, it was such a let down. They could do some much more with the atmosphere and the food. Who ever is running the place is doing a horrible job and killing a long loved tradition by Aggies. The only redeeming thing about our dinner was the old time soda. That was amazing! But it was $ 2 for a glass with no refill. Never going back again. Would not recommend to anyone with taste buds.
