Not a good experience. He writes prescriptions for name brand drugs and creams that are horribly expensive. I had a hard time getting him to write a generic. Everything was upsell, upsell, upsell.
And he entered Federal prison on December 10, and will not get out, the website says, until 2021. No one deserves it more.

Gave this doctor the benefit of the doubt for over a year. Bad idea. He has scammed me as well as is continuing to try to do so. Lies about being in network with my insurance company and was billed a huge amount (automatically withdrawn with no notification I should say). The girls are the front desk are really sweet, but hope they aren’t part of his scam. The billing department is on the same page as the doctor and have no problem lying too.
Also, his bedside manner is horrible.

I was extremely disappointed with every aspect of care I received from Dr. Kolbusz. The wait time was incredible! I often waited as much as an hour to see him and then he gave me 5 minutes of his time. His office frequently called to reschedule appointments. He offered very limited hours and never explained the reason behind this but expected you to conform to his schedule. I felt very disrespected by the way I was treated. I would not recommend him for any reasonand will not go back.

I began going to Dr. Kolbusz when I was in 6^th grade because of my cystic acne I had inherited from my dad. For years I went there trying all these medications that did nothing for me. I dreaded going because my dad and I would wait for up to 45min-​1hr every time to see him for maybe 10 min. I found him to be very rude as well, but for some reason we kept going. After multiple fails, one day his ASSISTANT suggested I talk to him about Accutane. He ended up agreeing with it and it changed my skin 100%. With Accutane you take it for 6 months and you have to go in monthly for the Dr. to refill it. It was dreadful waiting for him for sooo long and dealing with such a rude person. I was 16 so my parents took care of the medical bills and I remember them having tons of problems with billing. The Dr. told me the Accutane would last for 5 – 10 years. 5 years later my cystic acne started coming back and I went back to see him since he knew my history. They had NONE of my files nor did he remember me. I am done with that show and I am never going back. Don’t waste your time.

A rating of one star is one star too many.
I can’t even begin to begin describing my displeasure with this doctor. I would avoid him at absolutely all costs.
My disfiguring scars, extremely painful experience, and my absolutely Unnecessary procedures make me deeply regret my trust in him. He suggested an invasive and painful procedure which he absolutely neglected to inform me of what the surgery actually entailed. When I went to dress my wounds that evening I was in horror to find what lay under the bandages.
And of course my procedures were ineffective and I returned to have him suggest a repeat of the same option. Again my problem returned.
Feeling wildly disappointed in the extreme pain and loss of money I visited a different doctor who prescribed me a non invasive, inexpensive, pain free topical that cured my problem in under two weeks.
I don’t understand how he still has a practice. He is an absolute shame to the medical community

I never really even thought to review my doctors until I took it to Unilocal to help me find a dermatologist. When the list popped up, Dr. Kolbusz was the first listed, with one star. My initial thought was OMG I feel all of you! After I found a dermatologist, I quickly came back here to add to this. Not because I love to give 1 star reviews, I mean who really likes to have to do that? But because I feel the need to review to let people know about the BEST places and unfortunately the not best places too.
I went to this doctor about 5 years ago to help clear up my skin. It’s like theres no reasoning with it! My first trip in, the medical assistant/​nurse spent more time with me then Dr. Kolbusz. He came in, QUICKLY, and I mean QUICKLY looked at my face, looked at my medical history and said since I have a hormone disorder, theres no help for my face. But that he’d give me some samples to try out, and an antibiotic. He told me if that didn’t work– nothing would. Already I was pissed. There is no ONE treatment for EVERYONE. (I realize I“m using a lot of caps but I’m seriously mad, 4 years later. that should tell you something about him)
At this appointment I also mentioned some skin abnormalities that he looked at. He said a mole had to be removed and ASAP. He told me I’d be back to work the next day no problem. This was after I strongly specified to him the duties of my job– working with highly aggressive autistic children who I had to lift on a daily basis. He said no problem. I had to take off work to have this procedure which my new job was not too happy about. They were even more mad when I had to tell them I had to take an entire WEEK off. After the procedure, he didn’t say one word to me. The nurse came in with prescriptions for pain, and for a wash, and cream, AND a note to excuse me from work for a WEEK! Immediately I became frustrated and told her I had to go to work the next day. She explained that because of where my stitches were, there was no way I could go to work. I asked how come they didn’t tell me sooner and she said the doctor had explained everything to me. LIE!!!
The scar on my chest was also supposed to be minimal and not very noticeable. LIE!!! He said its because I didn’t care for it properly and a stitch popped. LIE!!! I did everything I was supposed to do. I stayed in bed longer than I should and my roommate at the time did EVERYTHING for me, to avoid popping stitches. I’m now left with a beautiful noticeable scar in the middle of my chest.
The best part to this story is, they told me it would be covered in my insurance. LIE! I got hit with a HUGE bill. Ridiculously huge over $ 1500.
AND now for the past 4 years I’ve been living with being completely unhappy with my skin because this dr said there wasn’t anything he could do because of my hormones… well I recently spoke to someone with my same issues– and there ARE things that can be done. Just things he wasn’t willing to take the time to try.
DO NOT GO HERE!

I find Dr. Kolbuscz and his staff to be very knowledgable and professional. I have had two moles removed without incident and go in annually to have my moles checked. The staff is very friendly and the wait time is not too long. I have had a few cosmetic procedures as well and have been extremely happy with the results. My face has never looked more radiant!

My family is very happy with Dr. Kolbusz and his staff. He really improved my daughter’s skin problems which other doctors couldn’t and proactive didn’t. Dr. K has helped me with my precancerous skin issues and removed my granuloma growth. His office is modern and well-​equipped. I recommended Dr. K to my regular MD.

I wish I would have read the reviews for Dr. Kolbusz before I came here. All of the reviews I have read on Unilocal are spot on. My first visit I filled out the paperwork before coming thinking that it would save me time waiting to see the doctor. I still waited over 45 minutes. The brief visit with Dr. Kolbusz felt more like a continual sales pitch than an actual consultation. He went through everything quickly and didn’t provide much detail. Then I was handed a menu of services with prices. I wrote this review while waiting in the lobby for a follow-​up visit. I waited close to an hour to spend two minutes with Dr. Kolbusz and did not really feel like I got much out of my visit. The funny thing was, while I was waiting in the lobby a new patient came in and asked if the doctor was running on time. The receptionist told the patient «yes» and I wondered if he was on time what running late was. Needless to say I will not be going back.
Ridiculous. Not worth it. I am sure there are much better dermatologists out there.

I want to reiterate everything said by previous posters. My wife and I were both patients of Dr. Kolbusz at one time. He looked at my psoriasis for all of 2 minutes and prescribed light therapy 3 times a week. Miserable person, but I didn’t have to interact with him much. Our real problem occurred when he prescribed treatments for my wife’s skin cancer. One of the treatments involved repeated (expensive) visits to his office where an assistant performed some kind of abrasion therapy that seemed to my wife to be more cosmetic than medical. So she asked at each and every visit if the insurance covered the procedure. This was before Blue Cross/​Blue Shield threw him out of their network. every time they assured her that it was covered. As it turned out, it wasn’t and his staff knew it! At least they should have — they had been communicating with BCBS for over a month, Bottom line — we had to pay the full amount (very expensive). Their billing dept. threatened to turn it over to a collection agency.
Run, don’t walk, away from this guy. He is much worse than just a bad doctor — he is dangerous.

Waited over an hour for an appointment. Waiting room was filled with angry patients. Met with the doctor about 2 minutes. Prescribed a medication for me. After a told him three times I was breastfeeding I was shocked to see a huge warning on the medication «Do not use while breastfeeding». I never went back to him.

I am 24 and I have bad looking moles that I wanted to get checked out. I called Dr. Kolbusz’s office to make and appointment and got in the same day (should have been my first warning). No one in his office told me they don’t accept my insurance, in fact they took pictures of all of my moles to turn in to my insurance company so that they «would take care of it»… yeah well they don’t take anthem so I had to pay for all of those pictures and everything else out of pocket. After he came in the room and looked at my moles for 30 seconds he said they he can’t believe that I am just now coming in to get these checked out, and how my moles look so bad and that i need at least 13 of them surgically removed and biopsied. Of course I went home crying and scared about what was about to happen.
I scheduled a surgery apt. a couple of days later to get the first two removed. I asked him what ones I should remove and it was like he closed his eyes and pointed to them. He ended up removing one on my back and one on my abdomen and said to come back in 1 and ½ weeks to remove HALF of the stitches. and prescribed me tylenol 3 for pain.
I had a nasty reaction to tylenol three and came back in 1 and ½ weeks to remove HALF of the stitches. and sure enough his assistant took out ALL of the stitches even after I asked her if she was sure thats what she was supposed to do. After taking ALL of the stitches out she read the chart and said Whoops i was only supposed to take out half.
About two weeks later the scar on my abdomen still had not closed and was starting to ooze green pus. I went back in to get it fixed because I should not have to live with a potentially dangerous infection and a nasty scar. The dr. took off more skin and put in more stitches to fix the original scar. I told him that I wasn’t going to pay for this, that it wasn’t my fault that it was like this. He shook his head and brushed it off like he would handle it later. I also said that I was allergic to tylenol 3 and i needed something different for pain. he prescribed me DARVOCET!!! I also talked to him about the path reports on my biopsy which he sent out to another pathologist… Why… He is a pathologist!!! I went to fill my darvocet prescription and it turns out darvocet was taken off of the market because of its adverse effects and limited use for helping pain. 5 hours later and still no medicine for pain his assistant finally called me back to say that they were not going to give me anything for pain. And so i spend the next 3 days in pain and very uncomfortable.
I went in two weeks later to get the stitches removed and his PA asked how the darvocet worked out for me! I thought it was a joke. I told her that Darvocet is no longer allowed to be used and then she asked what I was given for pain. NOTHING, i was given nothing for pain. Nobody reads a chart in that office or reads the news. My dad isn’t in the medical field and he even knew about darvocet.
When I got the bill I was still charged for the procedure to fix the scar plus some random charges that weren’t consistent with what I had done. I had tried to call the billing department for 2 weeks and no one got back with me, and it took them another month to actually fix the bill.
This Doctor and his practice is a scam for him to make $$$$$! PLEASE learn from my story and my mistake and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! I would not recommend Dr. Kolbusz to my worst enemy!

Horrible experience with Dr Kolbusz. I’ve been there 3 times and will no longer go back. I usually wait for 1.5 hours (despite being on time for my appointments) before seeing the doctor, and then when I see him it’s for 5 minutes and his assistant does most of the talking. He doesn’t appear to care about his patients and he sold me on the full amount of facial Botox possible which made me look awful and frozen — mind you, I am only 32. And when I asked for a smaller, localized amount the next time, he refused to do it saying it would look bad and encouraging me to do my whole face again.
Furthermore, his office changed their insurance, so between my 2^nd visit when they were ‘in network’ and my 3^rd visit when they were ‘out of network’, they never let their patients know the change in status. As such, after my third visit I was charged an absolute fortune! And for what, a couple of prescriptions? Horrible horrible experience. Avoid Center for Dermatology and Dr Kolbusz at all costs.
