I LOVEEVERYTHINGABOUTTHISSTORE!!! I moved to Lompoc around the Summer of last year and didn’t really know about Certain Sparks until I became interested in recording some of my songs. I had only recorded a song or two at some studio once or twice before– not too much experience. However, Chris Lambert, the sound engineer was phenomenal in helping me out every step of the way– and he is great at trying to get the artist’s vision across! I thought I would record only a couple of songs there, but as I’ve been enjoying the vibe and the experience recording there, I have decided to complete recording my first album there. I told you I love everything about this store, right? Well, I loved my experience in the recording studio that it helped me venture out with my songwriting options. As a result, I started guitar lessons with Randall Sena, the owner of the store, only a couple of months ago. His teaching style is so interactive, engaging, and individualized that I actually have fun at my lessons and look forward to them! He actually had me perform at one of their recitals, singing and playing guitar. Did I forget to mention that I love this store? In addition to the recording studio and lessons, the staff at the store are amazing and helpful. I gained so much experience from working with Chris in the studio that I became interested in learning how to create my own personal studio at home. I’ve been reading books, but if I have any odd questions to ask, I literally drive over to the store, talk to Randall, Mic, Morgan, or whoever else is working that day and I just bombard them with my questions that they are so willing to answer! After they answer my questions, I shop around to see what new toys I can find. They sell vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes, sound equipment, guitars, basses, ukuleles, drums… you name it. The minor downside is that they are limited in their repair services, mostly only to guitars and the like– I was hoping to get my clarinet overhauled there, but unfortunately not so. Also, being a woodwind instrumentalist in a previous lifetime, I’ve been looking around for a nice box of reeds, mouthpiece, etc.– they only carry the Rico brand reeds at the store(which are mediocre at best if you play clarinet or sax beyond school)– BUT you can special order them through the store if need be. Customer service is excellent! I had a small discrepancy when I first came to Certain Sparks, and it was resolved immediately while maintaining that excellent customer service. Can you see yet that I love this store? If not, here are some other qualities I love about Certain Sparks: –It is located in the heart of Old Town Lompoc, right by the Southside Coffee shop. These two places compliment each other very well– music and coffee :). The store itself has this unique feel that makes you feel all warm and cozy when you walk in. –They have various music/performance events year-round and they encourage/promote new and local artists of all ages. I’ve seen kids as little as 5 years old perform at their recitals, and I’ve also been to some great album release shows. Lastly, I want to say that Certain Sparks is not just a store, it’s an experience– and the people there are like family– so supportive, welcoming, and all around fun! I love everything about what this store embodies and the positive influence it has on the Lompoc community. :)

What a gem Certain Sparks is in Old Town Lompoc! I just picked up my acoustic guitar after having it restrung and it sounds amazing. They also lowered the action so it’s easier to play. Great customer service and price.

Got a Guitar as a gift from my cousin, wanted to try it out for the first time. Few strings were broken and needed a pick. So called the shop. Installed the strings, gave me a pick and a free first 30 minute lesson for $ 1.94. Great deal, great people and great shop. I saw other customers were happy coming in the shop
