Clear Vision Optometry

Summary: Dr. Southaphanh is THE best. She is kind, encourages questions & answers in detail. She explains each step of the most thorough exam I’ve ever had. I’ve never felt rushed or that my appointment is on a timer. The five of us (husband & three kids) all love her! Clear Vision has the best choices for eye wear whether you have a small budget or looking for high-​end frames.
Long version:
My family and I have been going to Clear Vision for three years now. I really appreciate Dr. Southaphanh allowing me to have back to back appointments for my children. She is very professional but never cold. She’s personable & detail oriented. I’ve worn glasses since a very young age but have never had such a thorough eye exam!
Last year during my middle daughter’s appointment, Dr. Southaphanh showed me images of the back of her retinas. She was a little concerned about a few tiny yellow spots and explained that it may be a sign of Juvenile Macular Degeneration. Dr. S recommended a second opinion by an eye specialist. I knew nothing about JMD so I asked lots of questions but Dr. S kept me calm (it’s pretty scary to think your child could go blind) and answered every question so I fully understood. After taking extra time for Q&A, she then took it upon herself to personally call our health insurance to check in-​network eye specialists and then personally called the specialist’s office to request an appointment. I have never had a doctor of any type go to such lengths! We left that day and although I was anxious about my daughter’s eyes I kept thinking how much Dr. S. truly cares about her patients.
This year –a few weeks ago– my youngest daughter who is three years old had her first eye exam. She can be a little shy and I was a little worried she wouldn’t be able to sit still for the exam. Dr. S. was great as usual. She is a parent herself and knew just how to keep my three year old engaged.
If you’re looking for a new eye doctor, I highly recommend you see Dr. Southaphanh. You won’t be disappointed, in fact you’ll realize SHE sets the standard for eye care!

Just had to leave the office after waiting for 30 min as a new customer and patients with later appointments were being taken before us. Bad customer service when you are about to drop 200+$.

The Dr and staff were great! They made sure I had the best experience possible getting an eye exam. The Doctor spent about an hour making sure I was 100% satisfied with my perscription. I never felt like cattle going to the stock yard, ALSO they accept OPTUM HEALTH Insurance. so now there is a CHOICE in Lompoc. I will be back as long as I live in Lompoc

Had a great experience at Dr. Southaphanh’s office. She is very thorough, and took the time to answer any of my questions. It was great having a female optometrist, she made me feel very comfortable. They also have a great frame selection, I just love my new glasses. I will definitely be returning for my yearly eye exam.
