Market Basket

I find that this Market Basket is very clean and the prices are very affordable and the customer service always friendly and willing to help.
But when I called this morning, to make a request, I was surprised to be given the run around. I asked if they could run chicken breast through the cuber for me (think cube steak). They told me they could not because of cross contamination. So I asked, but you do clean the unit right, so what’s the big deal? Matt went silent and repeated to me that it was a cross contamination issue.
If the cubing machine is properly broken down, de-​greased and properly sanitized there is no concern for this at all. I know, I use to work at a meat department for many years and we would welcome any request even if it meant having to clean the machine several times a day to accommodate «special orders».
Shaws in Derry performs this request with a smile and I have watched the gentlemen clean and machine before and after and it’s never been an issue…

I don’t know what I’d do without Market Basket if I ever moved!!! They are the best! They have Market Basket Kitchen where you can order cooked food that is fabulous! Their Panini sandwiches outdo Panera by miles and their prices can’t be beat! Their Kitchen has a wide variety of foods that you can eat there at their café tables for your dinner and all their food is as good as and often better than any of the local restaurants BUT MUCH CHEAPER!!! No reason to shop anywhere else. So thankful to have such a great supermarket!
