Great view of the small harbor and boats, and people walking by. Dull and quiet inside during the day and hot outside in the sun if you don’t move back in the shade. BURGER: They craft a surprising burger! In one of their burgers the meat is mixed with bacon and finely chopped hot peppers. Not enough bacon that you only taste bacon, and not enough chili pepper that it could burn you. Hand crafted and very tasty. NICE job. Parking sucks at Shoreline Village. The lot next to 33 Degrees is $ 1 if you have the restaurant stamp it AND you don’t stay more than 2 hours. It goes up radically if you go over 2 hours. There is a big parking structure in front of the Aquarium that is less at $ 8 for as long as you are there. Enjoyed the burger and the staff. Will return!

After doing much sightseeing along the shores of Long Beach I happened across the Shoreline Village. It’s kind of a touristy spot with a bunch of restaurants and some small shops. I was on the thirsty end tired of sipping cold water in the warm sunshine throughout the day. Since it was too late for lunch and too early for dinner I decided to look for a place with a bar and a place to sit for a bit. Yard House and Tequila Jack’s were the first two places I walked by, and both were quite busy in terms of patrons. I wasn’t looking for huge crowds or chain businesses for that matter so I kept walking. The abundance of shaded, outdoor seating was what caught my eye about the 33 Degrees Harborside Pub. That plus multiple TV screens showing several college football games simultaneously. There weren’t too many patrons at the time just a handful of people seated at the bar and several couples seated outside. I found my spot to sit a spell and chill off in a corner near the bar where I sat alone and had three TV’s all for my own viewing pleasure. Greeted by the waitress I was asked whether I was drinking only or eating in addition to. The waitress left me the food menu and returned right away with the beer menu. The beer menu was quite impressive featuring some 20 draft beers and another 30 or so bottled beers all categorized by color, taste, alcohol volume and bitterness. I was in the mood for something lighter so when the waitress returned I asked for a Belmont Brewing Strawberry Blonde. The waitress apologized. It seems that’s a popular choice and they were out of it at the time. My next choice was the Blue Moon Wheat Ale which was available on tap. I order a cup of soup and some light bites to hold me over until dinner. The Blue Moon Wheat Ale( ) was a nice pour finished off with a slice of sweet, fresh orange. I loved the smoothness and the light nutty flavor of the cold brew. The food followed a short time later. My cup of Clam Chowder( ) was good. The clam bits were on the light side and the soup stock was thin but the soup was loaded with big chunks of potatoes, celery, carrots and blackened corn. The corn definitely made a difference. The chicken wings served here are braised then tossed with one of three sauces. They can be ordered by the dozen or the half dozen. My six jumbo wings in honey barbecue sauce( ) were fall off the bone tender. I was not expecting that and enjoyed them while catching up with all the college football scores. The place never really got too busy which was a huge plus for me to stay awhile longer until the sun began to set. Although I stopped eating and drinking the waitress just let me sit until my Saturday football viewing was complete. It was truly the chill place I was looking for.

What’s with all the bad reviews? I went when they were slammed because of a pirate festival. Got some awesome garlic fries that could feed a family of 4, hot wings and a ahi salad. Staff was abundant but there was minimal wait because of the amount of people that were there. If you’re that impatient, order at the bar and chill in one of the patios. And stop bringing your bad karma into my mellow fry mood. You’re ruining my buzz. To the planks you go!!! Yarrgh
