Grabbed a beer or two here with my girl Kerry. We had a great time. The place is quiet and the staff is really friendly! I prefer the smaller/quieter places during the summer season because they’re not too crowded with DBs from out of town! Def. a good spot to hit up!

Had one of the worst dining experiences of my life here. sunday afternoon. the place had customers in it, but far from what I would call busy. we were a group of ten, so I would like to cut them some slack, but simply can not. positives: –we were seated promptly negatives: –menus arrived about 20 minutes after we were seated… and they didn’t have enough, so we had to share. –drink orders were taken 15 minutes after we were seated. drinks started to arrive 10 minutes later… one by one… last drink arrived at table about 20 minutes after the first. –waiter didn’t know items on either drink or food menu. –bar was out of both Blue Point beer and the other local brew(brooklyn). –3 of the ten food orders were wrong. –waiter spread blame to everyone but himself. –when told of the issues we were having, manager said, «i appreciate your feedback»…what a friggin joke. all told, an early afternoon diner for 10 locals lasted a most painful 3 hours. I’m all about supporting local businesses, but the owners really need to figure this place out. It’s been open long enough now that this can’t be pinned on ‘ironing out the kinks”. i dig what they’re trying to do, but this experience left myself and a crew of other locals vowing never to go back. what a shame.

Came here with a large party on a Sunday evening. While they were able to quickly accommodate our party and the restaurant’s décor is very cute, all of the positives end there… 1) They didn’t give us any menus until we asked for them several minutes after being seated. And they didn’t even have enough menus for us even though we were the only table that needed to order(all the other tables were already eating). 2) It took 20 minutes from the time we were seated to finally have our drink orders taken. It was another 15 – 20 minutes until we got those drinks. 3) The waiter didn’t seem to know the menu. When my bf ordered a drink off the cocktail menu, the waiter said, «We have that?» And when I later asked if they served pinot noir, the waited went to the bar to ask the bartender(we then spied him reading the labels on the bottles)…meanwhile there was a wine list over at the serving station. 4) It was 45 minutes from being seated until our appetizer orders were taken. 5) We were there for over an hour before our entrée orders were taken. 6) They were out of nearly all of the menu items. 7) They kept serving flat or bottom-of-the-keg beers. The waiter brought over a half-filled pitcher of Brooklyn Brewery Summer Ale and explained that it was the end of the keg(thankfully he didn’t charge us!). My friends took one sip and poured the beers back into the pitcher. 8) The waiter did apologize several times for the service, but he also seemed to be playing the blame-game – it was everyone else’s fault that our service was terrible. 9) While several members of the party ordered the skirt steak panini, one friend ordered the skirt steak entrée… and of course the waiter put in for the wrong order. 10) When my friend complained to the manager, the manager just gave us glib answers…“Thank you for the feedback,” etc., and gave the excuse that they had a «rager» the night before and thus was running low on beer, menu items, etc. It’s a shame the service was so terrible – Blue Point lost the business of several Long Beach residents and they really didn’t seem to care.

What a nice surprise and change of pace from the usual Long Beach bars /restaurants. We went for brunch on Sunday and it was absolutely delicious! I didn’t drink(driving) so for 13.99 I had a very tasty piece of salmon w/an awesome sauce. Honestly, it was one of the best pieces of salmon I have ever had and I eat a lot of fish. The décor is wonderful! Kind of like Nantucket meets Long Beach. Service couldn’t have been better. Our waiter was more than attentive and polite. Our group moved over to the bar where we ended up hanging for awhile — awesome bartender, I can’t remember his name but what a nice guy! We’ll be heading back this Sunday for brunch and this time I’m not driving :)

One of the worst experiences… STAYAWAY. While the décor and location(own parking lot) are attractive after a day at the beach, the service and food are terrible. My daughter wanted a burger with simple lettuce and tomato… never got the burger until the server came back asking if three sliders were OK?! I ordered the lobster bisque as a starter which had no taste and did not even have any lobster residue! My wife’s salad was supposed come with gorgonzola cheese and it came with goat cheese instead. NEWSALERT: You know things are run really bad if you can not get a salad right!!! The manager(?JANINE?) had her chance when we confronted her but never communicated to our server as we waited another 15 minutes for the check. The anti-climactic or maybe it’s the climactic part of this review is we finally told our problem to another woman who claimed to be the«co-manager» after waiting for the check and she apologized but never made any attempt to reach out to the manager and then told us our meal was complimentary… then we were confronted by the original manager as we were walking out… very awkward! Needless to say, we will NEVER be back… Hey owners of BLUEPOINT, take care of your problem it’s an embarrassing mess.

Absolute Disaster Go for the atmosphere, go for the music, but don’t go for the food or service. I have never had so many things go so wrong in one visit to a restaurant. Let’s begin… 1) There was a wait for a table so they asked for our name and we went to the bar for a drink. They seated a group that arrived after us before they sat us. 2) We sat for over 10 minutes with no menus and no one came to the table, even to take a drink order. We had to get the attention of a manager(or someone who seemed like a manager) to get any service. 3) A waitress delivered the menus and apologized. Immediately thereafter, a waiter came over and asked what we wanted to eat. We had literally just been given the menus. 4) Shortly thereafter we flagged down the waiter to order our raw bar items: 1 dozen each of clams, oysters, and shrimp. These took 20 – 30 minutes to arrive. 5) No plates or napkins were on the table and none were brought with the food when it arrived until we asked for them. The menu said the shrimp were jumbo. They average sized and overcooked. The oysters and the clams were good and they did get our request to have only small clams correct. 6) We ordered other items and some drinks. After more than 10 minutes without the drinks I complained to the waiter and his response was, «I did put the order in.» I said yes but we’ve been waiting a long time.” The next response was, «It’s really crazy right now.» 7) I had ordered a salad that said it had goat cheese. I tasted the salad and it was awful. I thought the goat cheese might have gone bad or be a strange brand. When my friends saw me taking all the cheese off the salad they tasted the cheese and told me it was bleu cheese. I went to the so-called manager and told him about it and that i wanted it taken off the check. P. S. I never do stuff like that. 8) I had also ordered lobster bisque but it never arrived. So I told the waiter that the soup had to come off the check as well. 9) We had presented a Groupon the very first time we saw the waiter but it was not applied to the check. 10) Normally I don’t inspect checks very carefully. I usually just glance to make sure that we’ve received the correct check for our table. But because several things had to be removed from the check I wanted to look at it more carefully. I tried but it was practically undecipherable. 4 out of 6 food items were listed as Miscellaneous Food. The salad that was supposed to be removed was on the check but the crab cakes that I did eat were not on the bill. And… the $ 25 Groupon discount had not been applied. The place was pandemonium. Only two waitrons and two bartenders on the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend. And it’s not like the place just opened. It’s been open for at least a year or so. Poorly managed, poorly run place. Best I can say is that the french fries and most of the raw bar were good. Never again. Maybe I’d go for drinks but not for the food.

We live down the block from Blue Point and they have put a lot of work into making this place into something. The food is getting better, simple menu but fresh not your typically long beach frozen sysco stuff… The décor is beachy and comfy. They have a new brunch menu and it is only $ 19.99 with unlimited drinks you can’t go wrong!!! We hope it stays, it is an upgrade from the 40 bars that all serve the same food in long beach!!!

A truly horrible experience. We went to blue point tonight for dinner. The place was so noisy that we had trouble ordering our food. We ordered a chicken soup which was good. We then ordered chicken with horseradish sauce and fried chicken. The chicken with horseradish sauce was way too hot and was strange. My wifes fried chicken was soaked in sauce which was not listed on the menu. After my wife returned the item the restaurant refused to give her her a credit for it. I have dined in many restaurants in my time but this is a FIRST!! I will be avoiding this restaurant at all costs.

my husband and I had our wedding rehearsal meal at this restaurant in April 2011. We rented the place for a private party, the price was great and hey it has something the rest of long beach doesn’t PARKING! The staff(all of them) were phenomenal at catering to our needs(altering dishes, food allergies) and providing enough space for our families to feel relaxed. The food was great the drinks strong and a good time was had by all I would totally recommend this restaurant for private parties. without any hesitations. a secondary review, my husband and i went to blue point mid summer I had the seafood salad and he had some type of hamburger. the food was again great but I would suggest having the seafood salad in an appetizer size and available to guest to order as a meal size. I make this recommendation for those who cant eat bead/pasta and want and nice fish salad(like the kind italians eat on christmas eve) It was great fresh and flavorful. my husband liked his burger but wasn’t crazy about the bread said it was too crusty but than again he is more of a traditional burger bun type of guy. we will be back, I will order a double on the seafood salad :)

The new chef is very good. I am still not a fan of the menu. Too many mussles, not enough fish dishes. The burgers with the new chef are great. Handmade and cooked to order. When it gets crowded they struggle to provide consistent service but they try.

Blue Point is a complete 180 from what it used to be. The owners put a lot of work into re-doing the bars interior and exterior. I was a fan of Reillys, merely because I live down the block and I LIKE going to the bar in my sweatpants with my dog, but as a business, it was not a good bar. Anyway, they revamped the menu, making the food there 150 times better then it was before(it used to be mostly fried bar food, anything else you were brave to order considering the actual cleanliness of the kitchen). Now, they have a dinner menu with fresh fish and a variety of your typical bar foods. The food is really good, especially for the price. I can recommend the wings — meaty and good, and the spinach artichoke dip they mixed with bacon. Sheer Genius. They also have a variety of fish and specials, and they do a really good job with their menu and the cooking. From a food standpoint, once they got past the initial growing pains of merely being new to the serving business, I was impressed with. The staff is nice, and a lot of people that used to work there when it was Reillys are still around, just this time with rules. They will have a guy playing guitar every so often and the windows open so you can have a breeze from outside coming in. I thought their drinks were a little pricey considering the location — its kind of far from the rest of the bar strip and they charged between 6 – 750 for a mixed drink(I guess it depended on the bartender?) but they did do buy backs, and they weren’t shy with giving you booze so it wasn’t really a watered down drink. It can kind of have a cheesey, 80’s, Miami Vice vibe once the tables are in from dinner and people are just boozing, but its a good bar to go to.

I had great expectations for this resturant prior to arriving. The resturant had been redone from a previous bar. From the outside the renovation looked great. I went there on a friday night about 9pm the resturant was busy. First off we walked in and to my astonisment it was like the wild wild west-No hostess or waiter was present to seat anyone or put names on a list. Finally after standing there for 15 minutes a friend of ours went to the back by the kitchen and had to barter a table. We gave up and left– Maybe it was because they just opened up a couple of weeks prior– I will wait to see other reviews before returning.
