Father’s Day lunch for 6 turned out great. The food was on point. Bowls of gumbo are big with huge crab legs. The crawfish etoufee and jambalaya had so much flavor. This was not just cayenne pepper and pepperflakes. It’s a small place with very limited seating so you may endure a wait but worth it. I had the crack cake which is really pecan coconut cake but I can taste why its call crack cake. I do not believe you will be disappointed in the food. This is my new favorite place. Lots of things to try on the menu. Even though it was full and only one server we had good service. Thanks Crazy Creole Café!

Don’t let the neighborhood/building fool you. We were craving shrimp and didn’t want to head all the way to boiling crab and definitely not hitting up a big Catch in downtown. We ordered the pound of shrimp and a side of garlic bread. We didn’t want to bite off more then we could chew so we didn’t order too much. The shrimp and garlic sauce was so delicious, my opinion it was better than boiling crab. We dipped the garlic bread into the garlic sauce and the taste explodes in your mouth. You need to get the pound of shrimp, it’s a must. It was so good I dipped my sucker in the sauce to the disgust of my dates face. I’m thinking about heading back for dinner tonight!

1st visit had the Jambalaya it was very good. I will definitely return. My only criticism is they should have combo dishes with their fried fish, such as Filet of Sole & Fried Shrimp Combo. If they had such a combo, I’ll be a customer for life. Must try the Gumbo on my next visit, which will be very soon!

I came here with my wife and cousin in law. The three of us enjoyed this intimate place. I had the blackened catfish plate an chicken étouffée. The Cajun food is great. THey always made sure drinks were refilled. The owner of the place was really friendly and customer service was fast and excellent. I appreciate this Restaraunt. I recommend this to anyone that loves Cajun food.

I’ve recently moved to Long Beach from the south and I have longed for authentic southern cuisine ever since. I am happy to report that Crazy Creole Café finally gave me my fix! Everything was fresh and homemade, including the whip cream on my sweet potato pie. Unlike most places outside of the south, Crazy Creole Café does not buy frozen crawfish. I appreciated the flavor burst I experienced because of the freshness! I would reccomend this establishment to anyone that wants to have a real deal southern experience with an ultra friendly staff!

Sometimes I wonder how I could have missed such a dynamite spot… how I could have missed the flavor and soul pouring out what appears to be a house on a corner… no banner, no number, just an open sign dangling in the window. I love a good hole in the wall… and this place is at the top of my list. Great flavor on the seafood gumbo. Good amount of kick! Wonderful poboy sandwhich… bread and the preparation was spot on! The seafood was fresh tasting and fried perfectly. I spoke to the owner who was a breath of fresh air… passionate about her food, and the service she provides. You could taste the love in every single bite and feel the passion it takes to make this place go. So will I be back? Umm yeah, weekly!

1st visit 4÷9÷2016 Café was a bit smaller than I expected and décor was nothing to write home about but that’s secondary to the food anyway. I had the red beans & rice plate, added chicken hot«link» for $ 3 more, w/2 sides, greens & garlic bread. Meal was actually delicious but… Notice the quotation marks for the word link. Call me crazy but usually that would describe an entire link. What I got was 5 quarter-inch, medallion sized slices of a chicken sausage with the circumference of a hot dog wiener. For $ 3 extra? REALLY??? Didn’t complain about it because the meal was so good but damn! When or if I decide to go back I’ll definitely bring it to their attention. Also, when the server brought water glasses to the table she accidentally spilled a small amount of it on my leg and apologized and immediately brought back a straw but no napkin to blot the spilled water. I had to ask… I’m a damn good tipper but she got the short end for that bogus oversight

This place had been on my list for such a long time on Unilocal!I usually stick with healthier options, but my Nawlin’s cravings took the best of me. I went to NOLA about a year ago, and it was the best food I’ve had in my life. Needless to say, I came to this place with VERY high expectations. In short– my expectations were filled and much more! What we ordered: *Shrimp boil with corn and sausage: Wow! Flavor packed, without being too salty or greasy. We were recommended the Asian Cajun, which was incredible. I love that they serve the shrimp whole. They also serve large shrimp, which are perfect to dip in the sauce if you want even more flavor. I would also like to try the Louisiana flavor(the one with no sauce) to see how I’d like that. *Fried catfish basket: FAVORITE! A must get! I haven’t found a place anywhere that fries a catfish with a cornmeal crust like this place. It was as perfect as fried catfish could get. Loved the creamy dipping sauce it came with too. *Crawfish Etoufee: This dish packs HEAT. It was probably my least favorite dish, but that was due to personal preference. With regards to authenticity, it was just like any great etoufee you’d get in NOLA. However, I did take about half of it home and ate it the next day, and it was SO good! I guess I needed the pepper to calm down a bit for my non-Cajun stomach. Above all, we were waited on by the owner, who was really friendly and nice. She explained their background and how this restaurant came about. And when she found out we liked it, she proudly informed us that they deliver to our zip code(haha!) She was always checking on us and refilled our drinks and cleaned up after us, despite the fact that their phones were ringing off the hook. So happy to have discovered this hidden gem, we will be back with a vengeance. Next on my list is probably a po’boy. Thank you CCC, you are a true taste of NOLA heaven!

I don’t get here often as I would like. The Crazy Creole brings some real deal Southwest Louisana tastes to Long Beach. I just want to say one thing and that is Gumbo. This is a must… the best gumbo this side of Texas. It doesn’t stop there by a long shot, but the seafood gumbo is outstanding. Shrimp po boy is a winner for something quick to go and the crawfish are seasoned just right like others have said before. Convenient location but parking can be tight.

I really enjoyed my food! I am always told by my Creole family never to order gumbo out because it will never measure up to my moms or aunties. The gumbo was really delicious and just like home cooked gumbo. I thought the portion size/price was spot on. Those who cook gumbo know how pricey seafood can be, especially since it’s fresh. The gumbo had a lot of seafood in it, which you’ll find at other establishments is sparse. The catfish and fried oysters were excellent! We ordered a lot of food and it came out quickly. The service was great! I have recommended to many friends and family and will be visiting again soon.

I’ve ordered delivery a few times, which has always been fast; however, the delivery person expects you to meet him at the curb. If Pizza X Two and Round Table Pizza(both in Long Beach) can regularly bring my orders to my door, I don’t know why this business can’t. They never have even though I always tip 20% or more in advance through Unilocal’s online order service. The food here is way overpriced for the portion size. The flavor of their crawfish ettoufe was gross. I can say this since I’ve eaten at Harrold and Belle’s as well as Orleans and York, which recently opened not too far away. Their portions are way bigger for slightly less money, and the food tastes better. I will say that this business’ shrimp and oyster po boy is good, but the catfish and crawfish ettoufe were not to my liking. I haven’t ordered in quite a while, and I probably won’t be back. But try them for yourself. Everyone’s palate is different.(I will post pictures of the food I ordered. The images should still be on my phone.)

I order from this place often. The gumbo tastes just like my family from Louisiana used to make. Gumbo is very flavorful and every spoonful u get sausage or chicken. I do agree with other reviewers about the portion sizes for the price. I did have 6 pieces of shrimp in my bowl like another reviewer and wondered if they actually count them hahaha. $ 25 for a large 32oz of gumbo is pretty steep. So I tried another gumbo place that offered the same portion 32oz but for $ 15 and let’s just say you get what you pay for. The gumbo here is great quality so I’m with the owner on that. I will gladly pay the $ 25 for some good gumbo. The crack pecan cake was moist and sweet but not too sweet. Sweet potato is my fave and I order 2 for myself don’t judge lol. My boyfriend is diabetic and had the pecan pie and didn’t really raise his blood sugar so that’s a plus plus he said it was good. He didn’t complain about the portion sizes of the pie and his jumbalaya had… U guessed it about 6 pieces of shrimp hahaha. I would rather have extra shrimp than the crab legs wonder if u can request it. Even though they are pricey quality over quantity so I will continue to order from here. Oh it says u get free delivery if ur within 4 miles but have never gotten it so wondering about that…

I only have one thing negative to say about this restaurant… they have taken the string beans off the menu before I could taste them! They have the best greens and makes me wish I’d paid attention to my mom when she prepared hers. But depending on Crazy Creole Café for them is just fine. I had the blue crab dinner. I didn’t know how to eat a crab that large. Crawfish, yes, but crab? Which of the hidden parts was I supposed to eat? Finally I just took out a clean hammer and smashed it. Problem solved. Then I got all into the juices that had the lovely garlic and butter. The Cajun potato salad was good and was spicy. Usually I get mad when someone names something Cajun or Creole simply because they added red pepper to it. But this is the real deal and had The Trinity in it. It was totally worth the price and the fact that it delivers makes it outstanding. It’s awesome.

It smells great inside and the staff are really nice so my low rating is based off of other reasons. First, it is lunch, early so its quite disappointing when everything you want to order is unavailable. I ordered the crawfish ettoufee and the crack pecan coconut pie. No ettoufee and all desserts are unavailable. What a let down. I settled for the BBQ shrimp plate. It was seasoned well but the sauce was very salty and greasy. Also for 15 bucks, you’d think I could get more than 6 shrimp. The dish was almost all sauce. I’m actually still hungry. Collard greens are ok. The best I had was the catfish po’boy. I doubt I will come back here. I don’t like how there is not much available. They were kind and apologized but I’m still annoyed.

Just down the street from the house, decided to give it a try. I love seafood boils or anything that has to do with seafood. It’s a small Cambodian family business, sweet owners and friendly employees. Easy to order and the wait isn’t long at all. The only down fall is the surroundings just have to be careful where you sit. Not all attraction is inviting. but yeah, I came here and ordered 1 lb of shrimps and 1 lb of clams in Asian Cajun Style with unlimited fountain beverage.

Not disappointed, not impressed. I had the jambalaya plate, $ 15. Customer service was good, place was nice and clean, that I liked. I ordered thru Unilocal as I saw that some of the reviews said the wait was too long. Therefore, my food was ready when I got there. As there was no one there at all, we decided to just dine in and let us watch whatever we wanted on tv . As for the food… the best part of my meal was the corn that was delicious! Mac & Cheese was pretty good too. I felt the jambalaya was short of my expectations. It wasn’t as tasteful kind of blah, had way better jambalaya before. I won’t be getting the jambalaya again, especially at $ 15. However, I will return for the corn and maybe to try the catfish. We shall see! Hope this helped someone looking to eat here!

This is our second time ordering. We had a 32oz order of crawfish étouffée, two corn, 1 side of potato salad, 1size of Mac n cheese, and garlic bread. Holy smokes it’s something I want to eat before hibernating on a winter day. The food arrived fresh and hot. The broth is thick and plentiful… Couldn’t resist dipping that garlic bread. It’s worth very penny. Oh and the delivery lady was super nice about our crazy dogs. I really appreciated that. :)

Lackluster at best. I lived in Tallahassee for a while, so I’ve been to Nola, and I worked at a Cajun restaurant for 2 years, so I love my Cajun comfort food. This place is not the place to go for authentic Cajun. $ 15 got me what could equate to a small bowl of jambalaya, some oversized croutons passed off as garlic bread, and a scoop of Mac N Cheese. Their Mac and Cheese was the best dish by far. The jambalaya was not nearly spicy enough, and hardly had any sort of protein or mix-in at all. It was basically rice and tomato sauce. Hopefully their shrimp creole is better, but considering its $ 17 I’m not going to go back and take that gamble anytime soon. Also, POS was down last night so cash only, not sure if the owner knows about this because that could wreak havoc on your inventory and bookkeeping. Received no receipt, written or printed.

Summary: Friendly service and good quality food. Gumbo is tasty, but a bit difficult to eat. Prices are high and portions are not stellar. The crawfish étouffée is very thick and creamy(creole-style), the mac ‘n cheese is not super cheesy, and the red beans and rice are standard. You’ll have to park along the street because the lot behind the restaurant isn’t associated with the restaurant. My father and I went here for lunch on a Saturday at around noon. There was one other patron inside when we arrived, and only two other people came in during the hour and a half that we spent in the restaurant. Since this was our first time eating here, we asked the girl behind the counter what she recommended. she advised that the gumbo, shrimp po’ boy, and étouffée were most popular. Based on that, we got a small order of the seafood gumbo and a crawfish étouffée plate with the mac ‘n cheese and red beans and rice. The total for those two items came to $ 35. We grabbed a table and waited for the food to arrive. It was only a few minutes before the food was delivered to us. The plate was divided into three sections with the largest section containing the étouffée, a thick white-ish sauce covering chunks of white rice and some crawfish tails. In the other two sections were small portions of the red beans and rice and mac ‘n cheese. The étouffée was unlike any that we had before, which is because it is Creole-style with a heavier influence by French, rich-sauced cuisine. Way thicker and creamier than expected. Unfortunately, the consistency was kind of off-putting, but the taste just didn’t really do it for us either. The red beans and rice were kind of bland, and the mac ‘n cheese was nothing special(even though it is made with six types of cheese) because it lacked enough cheese on the macaroni. The gumbo arrived in a small bowl, along with a crab cracker for the legs of snow and blue crab inside. It also had gulf shrimp, sausage, and rice inside. It was very tasty, but messy to eat because of the crab. For the price, we really would have hoped for a larger portion. All in all, the food was excellent quality, but could not justify the cost, and the flavors were not were not what we expected(with the exception of the gumbo).

I made my way out to Southern California yet again and could not possibly leave without stopping by to say hi to the very personable Guy and his very sweet and talented wife. I still have nothing but amazing things to say and surprise, Unilocalers! They are making some delicious adjustments to their sauces that are to die for. I could sit there for hours and dig into their seafood boil. And don’t forget to order some sausages. I promise you won’t regret it. If you could taste love and passion for authentic creole cooking, it would be the taste of the food here. Bön appetite, y’all!

I loved these guys when they ran the food truck, and their grub is as good as ever. Simply the best Po Boy you can get, and if you can’t decide on which kind, they do half shrimp and half oyster. The jambalaya is good too, and you can’t go wrong with any of the desserts, particularly the peach cobbler. I’ll be honest, the neighborhood is so-so, parking is tough, and the place shakes when the Metro screams by. But no more chasing the food truck, I always know where to find them. While it’s no bargain, it is crazy delicious. And they deliver. If only they were open a little later, that’d be perfect.

I just returned from a 10-day vacation from New Orleans and fell in love with the food. My creole obsession has been so intense, that I’ve already been to 2 other restaurants until I discovered Crazy Creole Café on Unilocal. It’s 5 minutes from my house! Call me lucky, yup. I ordered the crawfish etoufee and a shrimp/oyster po’ boy. The crawfish etoufee sent my eyes rolling back with their delectable creamy sauce and crawfish bits, good lawd. It was as good, if not BETTER than what I remember ordering at Mother’s in New Orleans. The po’boy sandwich was also tasty and very authentic. They even let me sample the jambalaya(oh YES!), the gumbo(goodness gracious), and the red beans and rice. I had red beans and rice at another restaurant in LA that was very disappointing but Crazy Creole Café’s red beans/rice was JUST like I had in New Orleans. I can’t wait to return and bring my friends and family! It’s located ‘off the beaten path’ but if you’re a foodie who takes his/her culinary palate seriously, you’ll support this fine, independently-owned establishment that stays true to creole recipes and fresh, savory ingredients. Amen.
