Unfortunally it has been gone for a while but it was a chill place to get my japanese drinks. It was never really crowded and sort of in a bad place. I hope it will come back somewhere closer to CSULB so i can get my drinks!

Famima! gets five stars from me. See, the trick is to just never buy anything here. Mooch off the free samples and use the bathroom. And I know you think the whole, !! in the title is so overplayed but I’m still not over it. Famima! is awesome.

Okay, some interesting items that you’re not going to find everywhere else. I bought this nifty mint tin with a mirror in it, so you can freshen your breathe while you check your hair and teeth(pretty hot, I do say). BUT, I also bought a flavored calpis, and when I got home, I noticed that it expired two months ago. BLAH!

Cute place with a nice selection. The food seems overpriced, but it’s nice to look at. Imagine 7 – 11 except cleaner, more expensive, and with nicely packaged japanese/vietnamese snacks. The staff did not seem very knowledgable about the products in the store. I just wanted to know if the salmon riceball had raw or cooked salmon, and they mistakenly told me that it was raw salmon. Maybe not a big deal to anyone else, but I think it’s better to be honest and just say you don’t know than pretend to know –_–

Believe it or not, visiting this store was one of the highlights of my trip to LA. What the hell were the Japanese thinking when they made a spicy tuna hand roll of one part 7 – 11 and one part corner bistro. Damn I hope they expand to FL quick.

I’ve heard of these but never really paid attention to where/what they were b/c it wasn’t near me. Walking along 2nd St. and coming upon one it sparked my interest and my memory. I browsed their high end inventory and snack on their killer samples. I walked out with a tuna mayo rice ball and a Sencha green tea shot. I got my snack on and backed it up with some natural energy. I would eat here so much if they had one downtown SF!

Severely disappointed. All this hype for Famima, and when I saw what Famima had to offer, it felt like such a let down. Like when it’s your birthday and you invite all your friends and no one shows up. No, I’m not bitter… ;) Overpriced pre-made food and Japanese snacks. I could just go to Mitsuwa or some other Japanese supermarket and get the same things for less. Or even 99 Ranch.

Alright, sometimes you are just craving that boutique bottled water. You just need it and you stay up all night dreaming about its essence on your lips. You are so thirsty, you think about drinking water from your roommate’s saltwater fish tank even though the sides are caked some type of red-tinged growth. You urinate and your urine comes out in a gel form. You see that bottle of Arrowhead water in your fridge, but despite your extremely parched state, you abstain because you know that Famima is just up the street and its prices are reasonable. Ah, Famima! You have prevented my body from shriveling. How did I survive before this oasis arrived?

man, i wanted to be the first to review this Famima! but i totally slacked, bum out! anyway, i’m glad it’s here, it’s soooo needed in the Belmont Shore. i work at Buffalo Exchange on 2nd Street, so i’m there 5 days a week, sometimes more b/c i live so close. obviously, i have to eat. i try to pack my lunch and dinner to order to save money, but i’m a brat and i love having food made for me. but i’ve gotten soooooo bored with my choices along 2nd Str. well, my FAST choices anyway. i have a 30min break, so i can’t go anywhere that takes long and i’m poor so i can’t go anywhere that takes my rent. there’s one Rite Aide on the block, and i hate Rite Aide, they have the worst prices and sales. so having a Famima! is a «God sent». veggies, fruit, yogurt, coffee, snacks, etc etc you know the deal. it’s a small space but they pack it tight. and the staff… i love them, they’re so friendly. and i love the free samples, yum. the prices are reasonable for some things and silly for others. like the pasta dishes, i’m never going to pay over 5 dollars for a packaged pasta dish, sorry. since i work on 2nd Str the managers have been coming in and hooking us up with free food and drinks… sweeeeet. everything has been yummy, esp the cheese danish i had this morning. i hope this place does well, it’s a good thing to have in Belmont Shore, esp since it’s open until 12am.

YEEEEEAH! A brand new Famima! convenience store is about to open right here, in the center of beautiful Belmont Shore! Located on the South-West side of Second street, close to Vints(which used to be Biggs), La Strada and other local favorites, the store opened sometime in April 2007… Welcome Famima! the Japanese-American competitor to 7-eleven that does make a difference with its higher quality of customer experience.
