I came here to buy a gift. I was asked if I needed help but I declined, knowing that I wasn’t sure what I was looking for. I was not going to have the saleswoman work hard when I was not sure exactly what I wanted. I browsed for a while and found quite a few pieces that were definitely worth buying. The store is jam packed with glitzy jewelry so it definitely takes some time to weed through the piles of unmerchandised items. It’s surely not the easiest place to shop quickly. The prices were good and the items were unique. I was in the shop for about a half hour and did not bother either saleswoman/possible owners once with a single question. Since I was shopping for a gift and that was the first place I stopped in, I decided to take a few pictures of the pieces I liked and think about it. I thanked them and said I would be back(as I live 2 blocks away.) The woman then followed me to the door and said ‘Really?! Nothing?!’ I couldn’t believe what and how she was implying so I asked her to repeat herself and she did. I responded with ‘I actually found a few things I liked. Goodbye.’ This review is coming from a current manager in retail. I was so offended by their customer service or lack there of. The probability of me coming back and buying MULTIPLE gifts was very high. I will never step foot in that place again. Frippery should understand that a customer can buy whatever you’re selling anywhere else. People come back for the relationship and the way they feel while shopping in your store. I have never written a review in my life but after Frippery’s employees/probable owners made me feel like a nuisance in their store I had to. Small businesses should be shopped and supported by their town. That’s exactly what my intent was. However, with this came a great experience because with Frippery’s terrible customer service and lack of customer appreciation I was able to leave and discover their neighbor store ‘Josef Rose.’ The owner Diana was amazing. We talked, laughed and I had such a pleasant time shopping. Her jewelry is gorgeous and displayed so that you can appreciate the detail and actually SEE the jewelry. She helps you and explains the pieces to you by pointing out the details and the special qualities. Her passion behind her product is an understatement. I will surely be shopping with her again. So I guess, thank you Frippery for making me discover a new small business I will gladly support.
