Tried this place a few nights ago, we ordered the beef ribs. Thin slices of rib meat so full of connective tissue was like chewing a ball of slimy rubber bands. Only thing Hawaiian in this place is the name. Most dishes are just a bunch of rice with poor cuts of meat marinaded in soy sauce. Save your money and go to Nam’s or Sapporo’s they prepare food better and use higher quality ingredients.

Food tasty as it as all store chains, service fast, but owner or manager or whoever he is is a jerk. Several occasions seen him be rude to his employees. Today I forgot to ask for my food in a big box– I normally ask because the regular container is difficult to eat out of without making a mess. I ask at the last minute and he throws his arms out at his employee who forwarded the requests, obviously frustrated that he might waste a box, and says aloud«ask first next time» in an exasperated tone. Can’t support someone like that. I should have stopped visiting when he was treating his employees rudely. My mistake was that I shouldn’t have waited to stop coming until it affected me.

Portions are more than enough to where you can share a combo plate if not trying to pig out. BBQ combo plate is my fave for when I’m not on a light meal. More than enough To have some now and save for later, to share, or to have 1 huge meal. I definitely am a Mac guy so I sub the rice for more Mac. Fat boy problems is the game. Overall staff was friendly and location was clean as a very pleasant experience to be a repeat customer. Condiments all full or at least half full to where I can grab, add, eat my food, and be on my way. Thanks L&L

Fantastic food and overwhelming portions. This spot is legit. I am not certain if they overfilled our boxes because they were closing, but nonetheless I’m already anxious to come back. My boyfriend and I got the combo plate with a salad and three meats(short-ribs, chicken and beef). He also got the Mac salad(with the crabs was amazing). The place was a bit small and semi crowded so we opted to eat outside.

I love L n Ls. The food is delicious. That Mac salad taste as good as the feeling you get when you Q-Tip your ears after not Q-tipping your ears in a long time. But you know what? They gettin a 1 star from me today, and it’s been a long time comin. So many times I’ve come in 1 or 2 hours before the posted closing time to stand outside their door and go «awwww nawww, not again. Not. AGAIN.» They close at random times on random days for no reason! U can’t be doing that son! That’s bad bidness!!! And I keep Coming back to them and every time I keep getting dissapointed… Like I’m L n Ls side dude just hoping she’d take me today. But nah… No more. I’m not gonna take it. It’s over L n Ls. I got more respect for myself. There’s plenty of restaurants that want me… I’m better than this… But nah I’ll see u next week. Please be open

Food is good BUT(a huge Beyonce buttt), they’re never open during their stated hours! M-Thurs: 1030AM-9PM Fri & Sunday: 1030AM-8PM Saturday: CLOSED(what restaurant closes on a Saturday???) I have probably been to this location ATLEAST10 times where it was either closed before the stated time, or it was just closed because the owner felt like not working that day. Like others have said, if you luck out and they’re actually open till 9PM, the chairs will be up by 8:30PM and the workers actually have a RUDE attitude at times saying«you know you’re going to have to order take-out right?» Uhhh, duhhhh, you left us no choice you imbecile, and I hope you fail your finals you college student!(a-hole I know) To top that off, if they close at 9PM — they really mean it. Business is shut down and all the workers are gone by then. There is no «30min — 1 hr» window where the workers clean and what not. This definitely comes from up top to where the manager/owner is and not the actual workers. One time I came on a Thursday night with friends, around 7PM well before they should have their chairs up, and it was… you guessed it – CLOSED. The reason being«We’re stocking up supplies» Umm hello? Can’t you buy supplies during business hours? Meats, plates, you know? WTF. Another time, this place was closed on July 3rd because they were«celebrating the 4th» which meant they probably took off the 4th as well. Tonight, 05÷18÷16, I came around at 8:30PM, expecting the chairs to be up by then but I should have known better. Closed again. This place reminds me of that girl I keep trying to holler at but she keeps ignoring me and I keep coming back… The reason for tonight’s closure was«Mahalo» as in «Thank You.» Why would you freaking thank me when you closed at 7pm. You insult me sir! I actually made eye contact with one of the cooks still in the kitchen through the windows. I knew the look on his face, it told me everything, «I’m sorry mang, it’s the owner mang. It’s his policies.» I know bro — I KNOW! Who ever you are kind cook, you need to transfer your services to a better L&L. You and we the people deserve your talents! Compliments to this cook! I’m sorry, but this is the wrong business where you make up your own hours. All you have to do is stick by your freakin’ hours that you post. If the owner/manager can’t do that, then delegate opening/closing to one of the workers, duhhh! Sounds like a win-win to me! The Owner/Manager doesn’t have to work, while his business still makes money… Isn’t that freaking simple??? That being said, I’m still gonna eat here… FML.

This place always hits the spot when I’m craving some hawaiian food. I frequented this location plenty of times during my undergrad years at CSULB and now that I live up the street, it’s a local favorite of mine and my bf. I always get the mini katsu with white rice. The chicken is always crispy and the rice and macaronic salad all go together perfectly. The portion is definitely enough to share between two people. My bf isn’t a fan of macaroni salad, so I get that delicious little scoop all to myself. I actually think L&L has my favorite hawaiian style macaroni salad come to think of it.

Reliable, quick, delicious. My mrs and I usually share the mini katsu with white rice and macaroni salad and it’s the perfect amount for us. The katsu always hit the spot and even between sharing, I feel full and pleased. I love the convenience and comfort food style of this small place for a quick bite after class. Definitely check it out if you have some time and looking for fast quality food.

I got the BBQ mix and it was pretty decent, as the meat was fresh and grilled to perfection, but for $ 12 I DID get some lawn clippings as shown in pictures. However the dining experience was good, but maybe not the best bang for your buck and then again the food was good, as I do plan to regularly eat here. Your getting some good Hawaii BBQ when you eat here and that is to be expected, so honestly this business would get 5 stars if they cut down on the lawn clippings. My wife and I thought the restaurant and food were not only clean, but the food was healthy considered how it was cooked, as we were quite impressed with this establishment.

Came here today, and the service was good. Unfortunately when I finished their small sized loco moco, I felt kind of sick. I think that there was way too much salt in the gravy sauce. I couldn’t finish the last 3 bites, because I felt like it was too salty. The girl at the counter was friendly, and nice! She was all smiles. I also liked how they put a lot of mac salad in the small sized combo. This place is small, but there’s outside seating, so that’s always a bonus.

The portions provided at L&L are always generous, and this location is no different. The Katsu chicken was more abundant than the BBQ variety. I chose the brown rice over the white which I regret. I got it solely for my girlfriend but I typically get white. I have nothing against brown but the white allows the other flavors to shine. Especially the Sriracha and soy sauce. The Katsu was fresh and hot. The BBQ was a little thin compared to other times. The service was fine but the location is tiny. Kinda cramped to dine in there but most of them are. I will be back. They even have student friendly combos. I will be back sooner rather than later.

This place is just okay. No one can do Katsu like L&L, but this location shames that rep. This location uses lean meat which causes the chicken to be so dry and overcooked — not juicy at all. The chicken is also paper thin… its totally visible in all the pics on Unilocal. The 1st time I ordered here I thought maybe it was a bad day, so I gave them a 2nd try — same thing. After that, I always go out of my way to the L&L Willow location.

I picked up a chicken teriyaki mini plate here the other day. It was the hugest mini plate I have ever gotten at a Hawaiian BBQ place. They gave me 2 – 3 boneless chicken thighs, a heaping amount of cabbage, and a scoop each of Mac salad and rice. Despite the portion being huge, the chicken here wasn’t as good as other places that I have been. It tasted as if the grill was crowded which caused the chicken to taste kind of steamed and not grilled. It was fine though — I just wish that it was a little more crisp on the outside. Definitely a bargain for $ 6

Portions, portions, portions! Hawaiian Plate Lunches live and die by portion and the«mac». My portion was generous and the Mac Salad was really good! The place was packed at lunch, but my order came out pretty quickly. The Kalua Pig was a bit salty, but the flavor was definately Island goodness! Cabbage was fresh and crisp and along with the sticky rice, mellowed the salt in the pork. My Portuguese Musubi was good, with a nice sweet sauce under the meat. I would have preferred more meat and less rice in a side, but if I needed a quick filling carb snack, it would be the bomb! Good stuff. I’ll be back to try the Loco Moco!!!

Location: A small strip mall at the corner of Bellflower and 7th, there is plenty of parking there now that the Ralphs has closed down. Not a ton of seating there as it is a small location, but a few tables both inside and out. Service: They don’t have a ton of employees so after awhile you start to see the same people(we live in the area). All of them seem very nice and polite and are very prompt when taking your order. I don’t have any complaints about service at this location. Probably one of the best ones we have been too. Food: L&L is Hawaiian food — that means spam musubi, chicken katsu, loco moco, etc. This is our go to «fast food» place for plate lunches — you can never go wrong with chicken katsu and usually that is some part of our order if not our whole order. My husband loves the mac salad that comes with all meals. I tend to go for all rice as I don’t like to mix my foods together which happens when you pile everything into one box. The specials at this location seem more numerous than others — a musubi special is one of our favorites — 4 kinds of musubi and fries(or another side). They also have student specials as it is located fairly close to CSULB. Unless you are very hungry, a mini plate will do it for one. A regular plate is good for sharing.

My first time at this L&L’s and I’d have to say I’m a fan! While it’s not that much better in size or atmosphere than their Willow and LB Blvd location, I thought their portion sizes were a little bigger. I got the usual katsu curry mini plate and a spam musubi – everything tasted just the way I was expecting! If you like L&L or Hawaiian BBQ in general, this is a good location. STEPHJUDGEMENT: A solid representation of this franchise.
