Park Jam is one of the best community events I have ever attended. The family atmosphere and good spirits that filter through the park– are something ever human should experience in life… I have been going to Park Jam for 10 years and all I can say is there is nothing like this on the planet. From Music, to dancing, to children’s activities, meeting new people, networking, and feeling like apart of something positive. :) I love Park Jam

A community sponsored, community organized event that is held in a underserved area of long beach. This event is child friendly! There is a large playground where the kids play next to the dj where the parents dance and be merry! So have a good time! No it’s not«Ghetto». There are no jewish people being held in concentration camps by SS Nazis… What you will see are families who brought their easy ups, barbeques, music, and their children. Did you really expect someone else to bring all of that for you!!! All the families are so nice and caring that maybe if you didnt sit there and call them and their families GHETTO, they would have loved more than to share their shade and food with you… Yes, you might smell«420» but no one is shoving it in your face. LB is a fairly liberal city, and we all know that smokers hang out«on the side of the park with no children or activities going on». If you don’t like the smell, don’t go towards it… it’s a fairly big park, and that shouldn’t be a problem. All in all, bring some friends and food and meet new interesting people

One word: GHETTO. I wanted to go out and enjoy my people in a family-style picnic, like we use to have at Exposition Park years ago. But no, upon approach, I smelled 420. Music was in one side of the park, while nothing was going on on the other. It seems like you had to bring your own everything, and no one was doing anything together but drinking. PASS!

For 8 years, Long Beach natives have relied on Collective I, 1Love Community, and the newly formed CALAFIA Zulus to provide the livest, family summer vibes, with PARKJAM. This event is a daytime-nightfall potluck entertained by the best DJ’s, local dance and martial arts groups, and many other cultural exhibitions throughout the day. PARKJAM takes place on the first sundays of the 4 months in summer. Not only has PJ found a home in the perfectly secluded CESARCHAVEZ park(5th& Golden, Long Beach, CA), but it has truly found a place in the hearts of most art, music, and culture lovers in the community. These Sundays are the most anticipated days of the year for«artsy» and spiritually harmonious families and individuals form all over California. A day when your children can run free, and dance along-side their parents, to classic reggae, soul, hiphop, pop, funk, jazz, dance and world music. Free yoga, drumming and tightrope lessons on the field, while donation-based massages and crafts, bring a well rounded cultural experience. Dominoes and Spades tables heat up but never get out of hand, as friendly competition is welcomed and encouraged. Live and interactive art and crafts always give your eyes and spirits a stimulated boost of appreciation for the city of Long Beach. This event is the best time you can have with your whole family for free. get there early and grab a piece of grass, welcome to Long Beach!
