Awesome food and great hospitality. Will definitely come back. I prefer the baked salmon roll. God it’s like heaven. The fish is fresh and the rice is tender. Definitely order a soft drink, it pairs perfectly

This place is sooo good the clear noddles with chicken are the best! This is the second time I’ve done a phone order but I’ve personally never picked up. The California roll combo is really good as well.

Miyako is an unassuming Japanese restaurant located in a small neighborhood strip mall. Blink and you might miss it. If you want to skip the crowds yet still get a box lunch prepaired with care, go to Miyako. It’s a cozy little place with not many tables but you can always find at least one table. The lady behind the counter is nice and very accommodating. I ordered the spicy tuna and didn’t realize it came with teriyaki chicken. I couldn’t eat meat that week due to Lent. So I was just going to toss it but she insisted on replacing it with Tempura. Wow. Thank you. She didn’t have to do that but It’s that kind of service that keeps people coming back to your establishment. It’s nice to see owners who care when it comes to pleasing the customer. It’s no wonder this restaurant has survived so many years. I’ll definitely be back.

Best miso soup we’ve ever tasted outside of Japan. The place is spotlessly clean, the food is fresh and delicious, and they have bulgogi, which is Korean, not Japanese, but it goes great with the sushi rolls. You can get fountain drinks or canned and bottled drinks from a refrigerated case.

Ramen noodles looks like 99 cent Top Ramen. Literally had a slice of carrot, 3 pieces of cabbage, and one piece of broccoli. This was a veggie ramen with bits and I mean bits of beef at the bottom? Not impressed at all.

It was hot and stuffy when I walked in. Which scares me at a sushi place. I left and went elsewhere.

Really good place near the Marriot hotel in Long Beach. Lunch specials are great! California sushi roll, teriyaki chicken, salad, rice and a drink for $ 9.

A little hole-in-the-wall place in a tiny nondescript shopping center in Long Beach. We were there on Valentine’s day because we’re staying at the Long Beach Marriott, and it’s within walking distance from the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I ordered a spicy tuna poke bowl, and my wife had the grilled chicken ramen. Both were very delicious. I also ordered the unagi sushi, and those were done to perfection. There isn’t much of an ambiance, and the décor was quaint(basically, it consists of their vacation pictures pasted on the walls), but the food and the price are hard to beat.

Not representative of Japanese food whatsoever. My son had ramen and it was basically the typical cheap type of Ramen-packaged noodles that you buy from Walmart for 25 cents each. I opted for Bulgogi and there was nothing Bulgogi about it… No spice, no Bulgogi flavor, just fried thinly sliced beef slightly marinated in Teri sauce coupled with steamed white rice on the side with plain lettuce«salad». Yes, it’s cheap but I see why you’re getting what you pay for. Parking can be full and it could be a busy area during the week day with no street parking.

Stopped here to eat early lunch once and dinner twice. I’m giving one star bc their teriyaki is pretty good. On my afternoon visit the AC was on and it was comfortable, my bento style chicken teriyaki combo was decent. My friend though had a different experience. Her food seemed drier and had extra teriyaki on it. It was like hers was from the day before and mine was from that day. Weird. The next two times I ate here it was hot outside and… hot inside. It seemed like they had the AC turned off. The rolls I ordered were huge, but I did notice they were stuffed with imitation crab meat and not very much shrimp. My second visit for dinner was pretty much a repeat of the first time. It also seems that the busier it gets in here, the more the girl cashier waitress gets cranky and rude. It seems she is the only person working there besides an older lady(owner?). Between the one stressed out employee, the lack of AC during peak hours, the huge amount of imitation crab and the older food with heavy sauce I would say this place is beyond cheap/stingy. Not going back. I went the third time to give the place a chance and had hoped things would be different. But they weren’t. My advice is order some teriyaki sauce from them, to go.

This place is great for what it is. Cheap sushi. And for that, I thought the quality was great. There was a dude there when I was who said he drove down from LAX on his lunch break, just for this. The woman at the register was so friendly and happily changed my Nigiri to exclude the shrimp. plus free Wifi! I’ll definitely come back!

Never going back. First of all when we politely asked if they do takeout or if we could take one of their paper menus to decide, the person at the counter didn’t even say anything. She just stared at us and maybe very slightly nodded like she was confused whether or not we were apparitions. Later on other customers came by and suddenly she is way more receptive. I don’t get this. Why. Secondly, considering the reviews I thought there’s no way going here could go wrong– so I set aside the terrible customer service and thought optimistically about the quality of their food. To my dismay and also to be frank, it was the worst sushi I’ve ever had. And I’ve had plenty. The rice didn’t even taste like proper sushi rice? It tasted extremely bland and the texture was closer to jasmine rice. The fish was also not fresh. You can tell because the good flavors just seemed to be completely drained out of it. And then afterward the tuna left a really displeasing aftertaste. We ordered four rolls– Unagi, Jessica, Rainbow, and Long Beach and were consistently met with the same disappointment. My sister and I are big sticklers for finishing what we buy but we couldn’t down our order– it was too bad. The biggest compliment I could give is that we didn’t find eel bones in the Unagi roll unlike other sushi places sometimes miss. I really don’t want to be a jerk writing this but I have to say the truth of my experience from here and I will not be coming back.

We stopped here for lunch recently and were pretty happy with the choice. Three of us shared 2 lunch specials and we did not finish everything. My daughter had the chicken teriyaki with sushi special and my wife had a beef teriyaki and crunch roll special(not on the menu but they were happy to do beef instead of chicken). I shared from their orders. The portions were generous and the food was solid. I would definitely return.

This place is much better than I expected. I only came here because it’s conveniently located to my work but I am now a fan. I would eat here even on my days off if I lived closer. From the pictures I thought it was just another place that serves teriyaki bowls but it also has great selection of rolls, some sashimi, and sushi. I haven’t tried any sushi or sashimi items but everything else I have tried have been solid. I don’t normally order teriyaki bowls unless there’s something unique about it but I do like the one served here. It’s nothing unusual but I like the sauce and texture of the chicken. They have several combination items if you don’t want teriyaki by itself. I got mine with two pieces of CA roll the first time. I also tried the lunch special combination with spicy tuna roll and it was also good. Lunch special comes with salad and miso soup, and it’s a pretty good value for about $ 10. There were 8 pieces of spicy tuna roll and decent portion of teriyaki chicken so it was quite filling. My favorite so far is the spicy tuna poke bowl. It’s not listed on their regular menu but I saw a piece of paper sign posted by the cash register area. It’s not really a poke bowl. It’s more like spicy tuna roll in rice bowl form. The tuna is the same type used in making spicy tuna rolls. The rice used for this bowl was more like sushi rice. It wasn’t warm or mushy like some places. Instead it was nice and firm, and slightly cool with little hint of vinegar. The flavor combination worked very well. Spicy sauce on tuna was very good too. I’m weary about ordering sushi from fast food joints but I might have to try them next time based on my experience so far. The price here is reasonable and service has been good. The décor looks old but place is clean and has a warm, inviting feel. From outside this place doesn’t look like much but the food is solid. Only sucky thing is the parking. It’s a small parking lot that’s shared with at least 5 other businesses so I haven’t had any luck finding parking here. I just park on residential street just south of here. Place gets pretty busy during lunch so I usually get here just before 12 and call my order in.

I LOVETHISPLACE! My wife brought me here when we were dating about 3 years back. This was was solid then, and solid now. We came back again as a married couple and with our newborn daughter. Pretty cool. Anyway the following reasons are why my wife and I love this place: 1. Great vibe. The place is very low key and inviting. Lighting is just perfect and the music volume is just right. 2. Service with a smile. From the time you enter, until you leave, the gracious staff always smiles while talking to us. 3. They are accommodating. Their menu can be switched around a le dente. If you want steak instead of chicken, they do allow it. They don’t give you the stink eye telling you it’s impossible like other places. 4. Friendly. The experience one leaves with is a positive one. I enjoy this place very very much. Great value and great food. For the price and wait time, very very few places can step toe to toe with Miyako. My family and I will he back again very very soon. I came here for the first time during lunch hours and the place had customers eating and waiting in line. I ordered a lunch special of teriyaki chicken with crunch rolls to go. The lunch special includes a salad and a drink and it was less than $ 10. I could not finish it because there was so much. First off, the teriyaki is delicious and they give you so much sauce which I personally love. The salad is good and it wasn’t soggy meaning they put the dressing on before giving it to me versus having it already mixed in. The crunch roll was not only bigger than I expected it to be, but it was a lot more than I expected. It was great and I’m happy to have leftovers. I waited about ten minutes for my order and the sushi was the last thing put into the to go box. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Also, I wish I would have seen they have«mini» lunch combos. There is a paper on the front counter that I missed when I walked it. It is smaller portions for a dollar or two cheaper. I would have bought that instead since I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish my lunch meal. Oh well, now I just have amazing sushi for later :)

Key words: «sushi lunch specials» You pay around $ 10 give or take for a sushi roll, scoop of rice, teriyaki chicken, and a drink. In my book that’s a bargain. I’ve never ordered anything other than the sushi lunch combos so I can’t really vouch for the other options on the menu, but as long as you’re going here before 3PM or whatever you’re good. P. S. They have a TV and free Wi-Fi.

The best sushi/teriyaki restaurant in long beach! reasonable price and their food is always fresh and good. The portion is amazingly large. The chicken is tender, and juicy. Teriyaki so is just so YUM! If youre a fan of sushi rolls, this place must try place. My favorite roll here is albacore delight(; try it!!! believe me You WONTREGRETIT. The cashier and the sushiman(actaully woman for this restaurant) is very friendly and nice. It’s pretty busy during lunch cause there are so many offices around it. I would recommend to avoid the rush by coming in early or after 2−230ish? Anyways they are certainly the best! You will most likely to love everything they have here.
