Lately I’ve been around Long Beach a lot more and decided to check this place out. With my boyfriend we split an almond croissant and some kind of apricot pastry, as well as two macaroons(I think coffee and hazelnut?). All of it was super delicious! I have gone back a few times since then and the quality is consistent. Can’t wait to go again!

As a recently immigrated French person, I have to say that this was GREAT! Since I moved to America, I have been looking for a «patisserie» that would remind me of home and this is it! I have to admit, I’m not much of a sweet tooth, but since I’ve been to renaud’s I’m addicted. And I’m not the only one! My husband and close friend always are amazed when I bring renaud’s home or to a party. I’m very tough on everything that is food related but renaud’s really is a little hidden piece of France in long beach. It is delicious! I would recommend it to any one who likes and enjoys good food!

Awful service. Had to get their attention to be attended. They were very rude. It’s over priced for something not so great. The macarons were pretty awful. I don’t recommend.

Traditionally I have to buy a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. Nothing different about this year other than the fact that I decided to buy a high end pumpkin pie from Renauds located inside the Gelsons Supermarket in Long Beach. The pie was very light, almost like a mousse, the flavors were subtle, it was delish. If you like nutmeg to over power your pallet, this pie is not for you. This is the first time that I have ever eaten an entire slice in one sitting. I cannot forget to mention that it is amazing with some Hagen Daz on the side.

Recently, for Thanksgiving, I ordered three different pies … As a French bakery, I knew the ‘traditional’ flavored pies(Apple, Pecan & Pumpkin) were going to prove to be unique. We anticipated the Pecan Pie to be our favorite, but, to our surprise, the apple pie/tart was our favorite. Pecan was excellent, different flavor than most. It had a wonderful rich honey flavor and conjured up thoughts of a slight baklava inspired flavored dessert, only with pecans. The pumpkin was smooth and delicate, which would be nice with hot tea. I prefer, a more *robust pumpkin pie at the holidays, but, still excellent, just a preference. *(Then again I do enjoy a tart rhubarb) All were of fantastic quality and artistry. They can do no wrong by me.

I came by to satisfy that sweet tooth! And satisfy it did! I was in the mood for the raspberry tart, unfortunately they were out, so an apricot almond tart and an apple almond tart will do. Both were very delicious. I liked the apricot a bit more than the apple because it had a good mix of sweet and sour from the apricot. I also took some of the sables(cookies) home. Pistachio sable and a chocolate walnut. Just so yummy. They were perfectly crisp, buttery and sweet. It’s pretty expensive but I know no bounds when it comes to my sweet tooth. Hopefully you won’t either. Check it out!

Don’t be thrown off by it’s location in the Gelson’s Market like I was. They actually offer quite a selection of cakes, cookies, macarons, and pastries. The raspberry tart and lemon bar were both very fresh and flavorful. Would love to try their macarons next time!

Macarons from here are delish! I also picked up some croissants that were really good and their iced chai wasn’t bad either! :)

My review is for the macarons only. Unfortunately, while everything in their bakery looked amazing, I didn’t find the macarons to be a winner. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t amazing either. We had actually tried some from several bakeries that day, and these just didn’t have the flavor or texture that we have come to know from other macaron bakers. Yet, this place was quite highly rated for exactly the macarons. I tried a good cross-section of flavors, and after biting into them, I couldn’t tell what flavor I was tasting. Not good… and I usually can. Everything else looked beautiful and inviting, but we didn’t try it. I don’t exactly live around the corner from this place, so I’m not sure I’d give them another try… but we do venture into Long Beach every now and again, so who knows. One thing I will say, they need a sign on the outside of Gelson’s. If you knew how many times my husband and I drove around and around and around trying to find this place… yikes. We didn’t know they were inside Gelson’s !!! I finally called to ask«where are you?» I just stared at my husband and shook my head when they told me. Kinda funny to me now, but at the time? No, not so much.

I was spoiled with the abundance of French pastries when I lived in NYC. So I was sad when I couldn’t find a French patisserie in the LBC. until I happened to stumble upon Renauds, conveniently located in Gelsons. I got a croissant and a macaroon. I loved both — the croissant had layers of flakiness, the way it should be. And the macaroon had the perfect texture and taste. You could tell that they are legitimately, well, French. I would give the pastries a 4.5(but I rounded up to 5 on the Unilocal rating). I know where to go now whenever I have a French pastry craving!

Stopped here after dinner this eve, and I’m so glad bae and I decided to do so from cakes to cookies. This patisserie has it all! We tried the pecan sandies, chocolate chip walnut and chocolate toffee cookies. All so yummy! Can’t wait to try more desserts, stop by!

Renauds’ maracons are good, very good actually. I purchased a box of 10(19 bucks, already packed but freshly made) and noticed that they are best when opened and let rest for a few minutes before enjoying as the crust gets its crunch after a short air exposure. Straight from the box the crust tends to be soft, which I personally don’t like. The flavors of the macarons are delicious and not too sweet, yet intense and satisfying. The packaging is great and keeps these babies fresh until the next day so you don’t have to eat them all in one sitting. although you can. and you should.

My husband and I came to Gelson’s late night for some pre-made food but since it was almost closing it seemed picked over and unappetizing. So instead we went to their beer section(which I may add has a nice little selection) and on our way out we spotted French macarons beckoning to be eaten. «Okay, why not,» I thought especially because there are not enough local places offering yummy macarons, keyword being yummy. You can get some from Babette’s at the other end of 2nd which look like different flavor macarons but all have the same sweet stale-ish taste. Skip this place if macarons are what you’re looking for. Come here if you’re in Belmont Shore, to Doly’s Delectables if you’re downtown or Sweet & Saucy if you’re in Bixby Knolls. But I particularly love this place because of the service! The workers here are cheerful and a breath of fresh air and I definitely enjoy coming here to pick up treats for myself or friends. On the three separate occasions I’ve been to this patisserie counter, the girls were just as sweet as the goodies. Our first time mentioned above included pastries at gratis much to our surprise. We picked out a handful of macarons and were ready to pay but then was told that since the night is almost over we can each choose another one to take home for free! WUT?! If there’s anything this girl likes it’s free food. I snagged an almond croissant and my better half got a scone, which were both delicious the next day. Another time I stopped in for macarons, the girl did a great job selling me on some packaged goodies that were buy one, get one free. Hey, I can’t afford not to!

Renauds is a bakery display within Gelsons Market in LBC’s Marina Pacifica, between the cash registers and the door. There’s a bit of seating off to the side if you want to eat on site, but it felt more like a takeout site. We’d been on a mission to find some macarons — for whatever reason, I felt determined that day to find some. The place downtown was closed by the time we got there, and the other well-reviewed place was a residence that did custom orders and didn’t have any to sell. Next closest was Renauds. I’d been curious about Gelsons anyway, so off we went.(BTW, Gelsons is a great little market — amazing selections of boutique brands and local producers, beautiful meat and fish department, along with the brands you can find anywhere else.) The bakery displays at Renauds are ridiculously tempting. The chocolate-topped cakes were so shiny I could see my reflection. All of the pastries screamed«screw your diet! Carpe diem!» There was a bargain bin with a trio of gourmet marshmallows. And of course, the macarons in a variety of not-found-in-nature colors. The only thing truly standing between you and a sugar-bliss-induced trip to the ER? the price. You will not get away cheap. I dare you to try. I failed. The macarons were tasty. Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside, with a creamy center that inexplicably felt a few degrees cooler than the rest. The flavors popped: the fruits were intensely fruity, the salted caramel transcendent. It’s the sort of experience that should come with a warning label or a daily limit, because those things disappeared in a hurry. Recommend? Oh yeah.

This bakery is awesome! For being in a market they set a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly and helpful. I ordered a mixed assortment with helpful suggestions from the manager which happened to be right on. Grabbed a coffee to go and was in and out in no time. The pastries were delicious, and a hit with my coworkers. Must stop by again!

The macarons are the best!!! Not too sweet and very moist. Standard size, good for two bites. Except when I am alone and I stuff the whole thing in my mouth Wide variety of flavors. Loved the vanilla, coffee, chocolate and pistachio flavors. Their main bakery is in Santa Barbara and I am pretty sure it is all baked there coz I caught the salesgirl once getting macarons from boxes wrapped in saran wrap(when i came by at 9pm when the bakery was getting ready to close). Apparently, they prep the display at night for selling the next day. So I got the ones from the box. Tasted fresh even after 2 days in the fridge. Had their Decadent choco cake slice… rich and sinful!!!
