Run Like It’s Recess 5k

We came up with this event about 2 years ago in order to raise money for Newcomb Academy a k-​8 school in the Long Beach Unified School District. Our number one goal was to create an event that fun for the entire family. If we do this event the way that we need to everything else that we hope to accomplish will come. Come out and support this awesome event!

I have run this 5k race each of its two years. Great event that benefits my daughter’s school (Newcomb Academy, a LBUSD public k-​8 school).
there is a 5k that goes around El Dorado park (which is very flat and has plenty of birds and other scenary. Then there is a 1k kids run and a 50 yard diaper dash.
There is a huge bounce house for the kids at the end of their runs and LBFD comes out to give away pancakes to everyone who participates.
DJ for all, crafts for the kids plus all the usual stuff like official timing, race shirts, volunteers giving out water.
A great all around event for the serious runner or for the whole family.
