Dr. Grizwak and the staff were very helpful in terms of explaining annual exams, what is needed and gave me options and knowledge of the technology in certain lenses. I came in with specific questions and they were open to answer them to the best of their ability. Also they worked with my insurance and payment plans if needed :-) I am not sure how long an annual exam normally is however, I suppose running 15 – 20 minutes behind is usual in a eye clinic setting. I did not feel rushed with my appointment, which I was happy about.

New Patient Setup was all done online and was incredibly simple. Just fill out a few pages of information and they e-mail you with a date/time for an appointment. Firstly, the office space is beautiful and they have parking on site. Staff are incredibly nice and welcoming. I was taken in not even 5 minutes after I got there despite being early for my appointment. They have all the latest technology for gauging eye health, which is something I never witnessed before in New York. The technician, Jim that performed all those tests on me was very courteous and very friendly. Once I met Doc Mitchell, who was also very friendly, it was your typical eye exam. I honestly found it amazing that she was already able to look at and show me the photos taken of my retinas that I had taken not even 5 minutes prior and explained to me what it is she is looking for and what general health issues can be diagnosed early based on these photos. She asked me about my contact usage and recommend that I switch to dailies and even gave me a four day pack to see if I like them before I commit to a purchase. That was awesome. I’ve never had an eye doctor that did that for me. In the past they’d just hard-sell me on a brand and commit me to the largest quantity they could. As far as getting new glasses, the technician Jim, who also doubles as a salesmen, was incredibly informative and helpful. I gave him an idea of what I was looking for and he grabbed a bunch of frames and was very patient as my girlfriend took photos of me and I kept trying all these different pairs, switching back and forth. I really appreciated his patience, because we were there at least for 30 minutes. Once I finally settled on a pair, his expertise was really put on display. He explained literally everything that goes into the making of glasses and what all the different options are and did not sell me on anything, actually leaving me to make my own decisions. He even gave me the breakdown of what my insurance would cover and what would be coming out of pocket and what warranties I had. I didn’t even know glasses came with warranties! All in all, I can’t recommend Sea View Optometric enough. Completely professional outfit comprised of very friendly people with everything you could possibly need for the health of your eyes. This is definitely my spot forever.

This review is wayyy overdue, but Dr. Gwizdak is the best! I’ve been going to him for years, and even drive up from San Diego to get my eyes checked because I don’t trust anyone else to be as thorough and accurate and accommodating. I’m low vision, and he has filed out numerous forms for me without complaint.

I absolutely love coming here! Everyone is so nice and professional. The location of the office, and the office itself is clean, and well kept/up to date. They have a variety of glasses, contacts and colored contacts. I don’t live anywhere near Long Beach but I always make the drive every year to see my favorite doctor :) Dr. Gwizdak is amazing, he is very nice and very helpful. I LOVEITHERE! I highly recommend coming here. It is always a very pleasant, quick and easy visit. Thank you Dr. Gwizdak and staff for being wonderful and for always providing excellent customer service. Dr. Gwizdak is awesome! He is very thorough and friendly. The office is very neat and clean with a wide selection of sunglasses and frames to choose from. My 8 year had an easy experience during her first exam. 4 – 5 weeks after wearing her first pair of glasses, her bad eye is already showing signs of improvement. I highly recommend this office.

I am presently a little worried about an order I placed over a month ago. I have been trying to call for the past 24 hours and I cannot get a hold of anyone at the office(i.e. They are not answering their phone at all). I have given the 2 stars as this is the first error I have ever had with them. I was first told two weeks, then called in after the two weeks, then was told another week, then called in after that week and was told one more week. And after that week I have been calling to no answer at all. It sucks because I prepaid and I am preparing for the worse. I am going to stop by after work and hopefully I will have a better answer on this.

Gotta love the courtesy text/email letting me know my glasses are ready. Luckily they were open late(until 7) on a Thursday, so I was able to pick them up the same day! I have been a patient here for about six years. Both of the optometrists are exceptionally attentive and the staff are friendly and keep things running smoothly and in a timely manner. While they have a substantial selection of frames from various BRANDS… I feel like they definitely need more of a selection of STYLES in office. They are always helpful in helping to track down frames to suit your tastes.

Very surprised to see such negative reviews here. I found this office through my insurance website(VSP) so I made my appointment without checking Unilocal first. My appointment was at 1p on a Saturday. The office was a little loud and active but it was a Saturday, so I know things can be more casual. I was seen right away, given a pre-exam and then I saw Dr. Gwizdak. He was very friendly and courteous. I had Lasik in 2008 and Dr. G was able to understand all my concerns(up until 2 years ago I was seeing the same Optometrist for 20 years). Did not need a prescription but my insurance covers sunglasses so I was able to snag some polarized frames for a good price. No pressure to get more expensive frames, everyone was friendly and outgoing. Pleasant experience.

All these bad reviews surprise me! I’m a recent customer and my experience has been wonderful. They just have incredible and super friendly staff as well as a huge variety of glasses. I just came in today to get my wife’s glasses fixed because they got scratched. Her glasses usually arrives between 7 to 10 business days and they call us when the glasses are ready to be picked up. We can definitely trust them when it comes to our eyes and even though it’s costly, I can assure you it’s worth it. I’m definitely recommending to family and friends:)

In a nutshell, we were deceived — twice –and that is unacceptable. Our business will be headed elsewhere. My wife has been a patient /customer here for several years and loves MOST of the people that work in here. They can be pricey but the location is near our house and their selection of glasses is pretty good. But when my wife recently purchased a pair of Versace frames from them, they were defective. Sea View agreed and ordered replacement frames. The frames took a long time to come in but eventually they called. We dropped them off to get swapped out. Turns out they ordered the wrong size so we waited a little longer. Weeks later, when they were ready, I picked them up. They assured me the defective frames were swapped for brand new ones. They were not. I drove back in and told them so once I figured it out. I was polite and did not call them out for lying about it. I dropped them off AGAIN to be replaced — as they said they would — and when my wife picked them up yesterday, we inspected them again and found out they tried to pass off the SAME defective frames to us. So that’s it. We’re done. That’s no way to treat a long time customer. We bought the same frames at Amazon for less than half the price and when her defective frames break down, which we are guessing they will again, we will get her prescription put in by some place else.

There are several problems with this eye clinic. a) the doctors have now twice got my prescription wrong(two separate doctors) and my eyes have had to adjust to stronger lenses than needed; b) the lab they work with takes a long time the send back the lenses(and sometimes do damage to lenses on shipment(taking even more time); c) the staff do not keep a track of where in the process of receiving a lab order –resulting in further delay, and do not communicate with the customer on any issues. I’ve worn glasses now for 20 years and this has not been my experience. Third world countries offer better optometry services. I went into get a prescription in August 2014 and they have now got my prescription wrong twice. Its not February 2015 and I’m still waiting to get my final prescription lenses back from them. And the crazy thing is that my prescription actually never needed to change from what I had in my older pair in the first place. Once they know they messed up on a prescription twice, their administration should try to make up for it by at least communicating with the customer issues in the order. I could rant on and on, but inefficiency and unprofessionalism, sums it up. Running a small business is hard, so im going to give it two stars, when in fact what I really mean is one star.

I dread LONG reviews so I’ll keep this relatively short and bittersweet. PROS: convenient hours and a wide selection of eyeglass designs CONS: up-selling and wringing me and my insurance dry before I walk out the door! I left because a situation that I had with my eye was over-dramatized and it was recommended that I pay over $ 100 out-of-pocket and if I didn’t, I’d risk going blind! Later I realized that I got ripped off because the procedure wasn’t necessary after I researched it, and eventually got the doctor to partially confess. Also they have advanced tests that they encourage you to take even if you are in good health with no risks. Good for their profit margin, bad for customers once they realize it’s all about sales. I’m with another optometrist who doesn’t have as large a selection, but I prefer giving my business to honest optometrists than to those capitalizing every angle they can.

I have been coming to Sea View Optometric for the last 10+ years. I am the kind of person that does not like change, so I stick with the same people, if I can help it. I have Kaiser for insurance, however, I pay extra for private vision insurance, just so that I can continue to come to this office. In the past, I have also paid cash for glasses, contacts, and even exams, again… just so that I can continue my patronage at this office. Generally, I have been treated okay, but there were times when I wanted to cuss out the office manager, Laura and let Dr. Gwizdak and Dr. Bisson know exactly what had happened. Now, I am not a bully, but at the same time, I am no punk and I am not going to pay someone my hard-earned money to treat me like sh! t. I wanted to say great things about this office, however, I also wanted to finally tell what happened to me. It bothers me every time I go in and see her. I also chose to write this review because I sent my daughter for an eye exam and she came home telling me that the manager was rude to her. That seriously pissed me off! I can handle people saying and doing rude things to me, but to my 13 year old daughter… hell no! Again, I wanted to say something, but I kept calm and stayed quiet. So here’s what happened… A couple of years back, I came in for an eye exam and paid; writing a check for services. This was on a Thursday or Friday. The following week, on Tuesday, I get a phone call from Laura. She was EXTREMELYRUDE, saying that my check had bounced and wanted to know when I was going to pay it. Here’s what happened over the weekend… someone was down in San Diego at SeaWorld, having a good old time charging up my bank card. I had my card, but somehow they had my card number. I had found out over the weekend that they had spent upwards of $ 900, so many checks bounced over the weekend. If anyone has ever experienced fraud on their account, or credit card, I’m sure you understand. They had to freeze my accounts and eventually closed and reopened a new account for me, due to so much fraud in that particular account. My checks and bank card were also cancelled. At that time, you had to wait several days before they would put the money back into your account. I told Laura this, because I kept her posted. Yes, I am the one that kept HER posted. I wasn’t trying to hide or evade her. I kept calling her and letting her know an update on what the bank had told me; they said that the money would be returned to my new account within 72 hours of the investigation being completed, which they said was most likely by the end of the week. This wasn’t good enough for her. By the third day, of that SAMEWEEK that we had been talking, she was yelling at me and threatened to send it to collections!!! Really, bitch? Mind you, I had been a client here for a VERYLONGTIME! It wasn’t like I was new. There was NO compassion on her part(as I was close to tears several times over the entire incident), and there was NO sympathy! She talked to me like I was a common thief and criminal. I was already upset, mad, angry, and embarrassed and she did not help. Since then, I cannot stand her fake ass and barely even speak to her when I come in. When this happened, I was a little more reserved. Now, not at all. If this would have happened to me today, the doctors would have heard about it, as well as anyone else who’s in the office at that time. That incident definitely soured my interactions with the office, but I refused to leave because of her. I also thought that maybe I was tripping and she wasn’t really like that, but because of how she treated my daughter and how I have seen and heard how she talks to staff, I can’t stand her. She is a bully! The incident with my daughter made me want to think twice about continuing to work with this office, but I figured this review would be a nice outlet for it. I REALLY hope that the doctors read it! I’m not going to give it one star, because the office as a whole doesn’t deserve one star. It deserves six! She however, deserves zero! What ultimately led me to write this review is because of great practitioners like Dr. Gwizdak(came to make an appointment the other day and Roxy said he can see me now if I want! Oh yeah!!) and the wonderful staff; Sarah, Brittany, Juanita, and Roxy and others who have come and gone, because they couldn’t deal with Laura. Yes, I know this for a fact, because I have been there when she has been mean to the new girl. The girl was dealing with two clients at one time; I being one of them and Laura shouted from across the lobby to answer the phone. Mind you, she could have gotten it and put the call on hold for her, but the way she barked it made all of us in the lobby look at her and then look at the girl, who was VERY embarrassed that we had all noticed. Let me say this… if they FINALLY get rid of her, the thick tension in that office will disappear and they wont have a new receptionist every time I go in there!
