West Marine

The place is great, I know what I want when I walk in, if they don’t have it I usually get it the next day.
My real gripe is the canned music on a endless loop, if I hear spirit in the sky by Norman Greenbaum one more time I will lose it.
Come on West Marine bring back the sound.
Get the Led out.

Went to west marine yesterday to go look at anodes for an aluminum radiator. Before I went, called and spoke to mitchell, one of the sales personnel and he checked to see if they were in stock. When I got down there mitchell was more than helpful to size up what I needed and courteous to boot. Will be doing more business with west marine just because he knew what I required and very professional.

I love the West Marine in Newport, but the Long Beach location is hit and miss. This time, it was a definite miss. There was only one person checking people out and he did not seem to have much experience. With about 10 people waiting in line, another employee finally came to open up a second check stand. This guy was distracted as he checked us out — yelled across the store at some customers who were near the radios and had difficulty dealing with a gift certificate. Ugh!

2 stars one for being next to the luanch ramp and the other for in n out burger. Stainless steel fasteners and on the wall selection parts ok, but. But the parts helpers are either clueless and sexually preference questionable or washed up custumer service old bald injured guys. Good thing they told me about captains locker down the street. Whatever happened to hey, how ya doin, can i help ya find anything or ya got any questions? It was Amazing, the young dude was apparently struggling thru the parts manual for my exhuast riser gasket and the old lazy dude was on the phone with god knows who? Did not bother to help us. But did mention his injury. And it was not to the brain, becuase he was still a smart ass. Well, dont hold in your farts, they travel up your spine to your brain and thats where crappie ideas come from.

This is your one stop shop for all your boating supply needs. It also has supplies that are interchangeable with automotive vehicles. Some things are a bit pricey but well worth it.

While West Marine is a great Boat Store, you better go to this place, dressed to impress. If you do not look like a million dollar boat owner, the staff here will blow you off.

I have spent a ton of money over the years at this store only to be treated like crap today. I purchased something there today took it to my boat and determined it was the wrong size. When I got back to the store I realized I misplaced the receipt. Shouldn’t be a big deal because i had purchased it 20 minutes prior and it would show up on my west advantage card. The middle aged man who is obviously cranky and bitter from working retail so long was rude about it and said «you lost the receipt in 20 minutes» rolling his eyes. He acted like it was a bigger problem than it was to return the item. He returned the item and I went to grab the correct size. I got back in line and waited my turn, purchased the correct item and the man handed me the receipt and said «here’s another receipt for you to lose» in a condescending smart ass voice. I proceeded to roll the receipt up and throw it in the trash in front of his face and called him a smart ass. I left and will never return. I will purchase everything online from now on. I have determined that if you are not a middle aged yuppie blow boater this store is not for you. 5 stars for the girl at the other check stand who is always friendly and professional. 0 stars for old stuck up blow boater fag who I dealt with today.

We have been shopping at West Marine for years… couldn’t even tell you how many thousands of dollars have been dropped at this store. First, if you are shocked by the prices, you shouldn’t own a boat. Boats are expensive! Second, for the most part the staff are very pleasant and helpful. There also seems to be a lot of them… always…even during the quiet times of the day. What is so surprising is the lack of inventory. You can wander up and down every aisle, and there are large holes of missing merchandise. There are places to put that merchandise. There are tags stating there should be merchandise there with prices and skus. But there is NO merchandise. And it quite frequently seems to be the merchandise we are specifically looking for! AND… AND…they remodeled the store and expanded the floor space. So now they have even MORE room for NO MERCHANDISE!!! WTF??? How about a couple less staff members roaming about and more stuff??? Or how about the staff members actually stocking the shelves!!! Come on West Marine… how about you start actually stocking your shelves!!!

They carry a pretty good supply of items and parts compared to other West Marine locations in the area, I just don’t like the completely clueless people they hire to work there, it seem like every-​time i go there, they have new person that knows nothing about boats or parts! Good thing I know what Im looking for most of the time.
I give this place an OK rating because it is on the way to my boat and I usually fined what Im looking for.

I came here for some real deal epoxy action. Was able to score some for my SUP repair. Super knowledgeable crew.
Don’t half step. They sell water proof, portable sound systems here!

Very helpful staff. Mark and Wayne. They aren’t mechanics, but will help look up parts you need in their handy books. Some items in the store are very reasonably priced, while others are over priced.

Terrible customer service. Axel at the parts counter was rude and unhelpful and unprofessional. The service didn’t get any better at the checkout counter. I have been a member of boat us now for 15 years and have never experienced customer service like I received today.

Everytime I call to see if W M hassomething is in stock I seem to get the same guy who’s answer is always «No, I don’t think so». Today I called to see if they had nautical flag dog collars. Lucky for me, Dean answered. He said he would check and call me back. Within 5 minutes he called me back and had put the 3 collars on hold for me. Dean rocks customer service !!!

Very convenient if you have a boat in Alamitos Bay as it’s right on the perimeter. The staff is always helpful and considerate of your needs, they won’t try to up sell you. Unfortunately, everything is WAY overpriced and if you own a boat you already know it. Convenience is pricey I guess.
Make sure you get the warranty when buying bilge pumps… Trust me.

Walked into this place after my local store was closed. West Marine in Long beach seems to have consolidated their few stores that were in Seal Beach and Huntington Beach into one mecca store. This place is awesome! If you’re looking for anything water related, with function, this is the place!

Return trip to again have a cable shortened and looped. Excellent, and they helped me in other areas of concern. I know us old folks say the young can’t hold a wrench or do mechanical stuff — well the young folks at this place can engineer your cabling needs. Very satisfied.

People think West Marine is only for Boats. You’re missing out if you believe that. It’s a great place to pick up supplies for DIY projects around the home and with your car.
Today I got a pole with a wash mitt at the end. It’s great for washing my SUV. The other day, I got some marine epoxy to make repairs to areas of my shower that get wet often.
They have a great selection of shoes and emergency disaster equipment.

Looked online for a retail place that sells American coolers and the closest place was West Marine in Long Beach. I only know the place because it’s where I park when going to Schooner or Later :-)
Neat store if you are into boating, have a boat or are building a boat. I am none of these, so this place wasn’t my cup of tea but it had the cooler and I was a a happy camper.
