Met Joesph, walking down Vernon! Just checking out the bars and restaurants and he was super kind and nice greeting people outside. The outside table of the wine bar was great :). I will definitely be checking in soon.

This place is really lovely. A bit tricky to find if you don’t have the address as they don’t have a big bold name on the entrance, just look for the red awning. But it’s great place for a quiet night with friends. They know their wines and make excellent suggestions. The food is delicious and again their recommendations are spot on. This is not a fast pace type of restaurant so don’t expect to be rushed. Very laid back and casual. The owners really take pride in making sure everything is perfect. They even surprised us with a little chocolate sampler. I would give it 5 stars but it’s a bit pricey. I will definitely return again.

This place is nothing short of amazing! After reading other reviews and the description of this place I decided that it would be perfect place to take my sister and friends for her bachelorette party and I am so glad I did. Everything about this place was spot on. The owners Mona and Armon were so personable and made our experience unforgettable. We had a lot of appetizers, fondue and wine and it was all so good. The whole atmosphere of this place is so cute! If you are thinking about going here, go! You will not regret it, I promise you that. We will for sure be back next time we are in New York. Thank you guys for an amazing experience.

Amazing selection of wines and cheeses. Finish off with the best chocolates LIC has to offer. Big fan! Found my new local hot spot! Very Friendly and attentive staff. It doesn’t get any better then this.

Terrible customer service. There is a sign«lunch special» outside and they only have few kinds of wraps as an option, saying«we are only coffee shop». Noone greeted us or offered us watter after we sat down. We were sitting there for 20min and the guy was just doing sth behind the counter not minding us: S

Tonight our little wonder Maxime(3 years old) is having his girlfriend for the WE from PA(6 years old). Looking for something special to do with them(without suffering ourselves too much at the same time), we decided to take them to Gizi for the famous chocolate fondue, I was not feeling confident enough to try with him for our fist visit. Well I can only said they had a blast. it was something like camp fire and fondue experience mixed together. Nothing was missing, the marshmallows, the rice crispies treats, banana, strawberry. Perfectly presented, the kids enjoyed it so much I could even tell. At the same time we were able to explore the menu a little deeper, and again, all was great small tasteful, the wine was excellent, and believe it or not everybody was feeling happy enough to make it a 2 hours Saturday night happening for the whole family. And passing the other tables to pay the check, I noticed that the fondue seems to be a real catch for the place. A type of delight for young and grown ups. Definitely Gizzi just entered our top list to go in LIC.

DISAPPOINTING Stumbled upon it on my my way home and decided to try the new place in the neighborhood. We were there for happy hour but were surprised that no one told us about the HH specials. We had to ask about it several times just to get the details. The place was empty so we were surprised that it took over 35 minutes to get a small flat bread(that they considered«large»). The décor was cool but If you want good wine, great food and excellent service — just go to BLVD on Center Blvd(ask for Carolyn)

We stumble across Gizi after visiting one of our favorite ramen spots and we just knew we had to check it out. I’ve read the reviews of other Unilocalers and yes maybe not all the cheeses are available but the ambiance is beautiful the wine is delicious and so are the desserts and the service is great. Our server Rafael was attentive, cordial and super knowledgable. The place has only been in business for a few months so I’m sure there’s always room for improvement, people often forget how tough this business is. We had a lovely time and we will definitely come back We had a bottle of old vine Zinfandel, a meat platter and some crepes for dessert, everything was delicious!

I’ve been here twice and loved it both times. I took a friend for her birthday last night and it was the perfect gift. We had cheeses, a few of the small plates, chocolate, and 3 different wines. The server helped us choose and had wonderful recommendations — we loved the goat cheese crostini(its warm!), grilled cheese sandwich and had a fabulous citrus-y brie. Our favorite wine was the bordeaux which had a very complex flavor. It was just the right tempo of tastings and mixture of flavors to enjoy leisurely over a long conversation. We will definitely be back!

Amazing spot — awesome vibe and great service. A great spot for people who are really into cheese and wine — the waiters know a ton about both and can offer great suggestions. An awesome date night spot. Will definitely come back!

Cool décor with hip, but uncomfortable, seating. Decent wine list, but it had no theme or purpose. Idiotic food menu: giant cheese list next to strange little meat selection next to bizarrely categorized small plate section. Diner-esque service: subservient, yet profoundly indifferent. Can’t see myself coming back.

Really ridiculously expensive, not fresh not to mention the small portion of the cheese and meat. I paid $ 137 bill for me and my friend for just a glass of wine and small portion of cheese and meat that taste like it has been on the shelf for years(it’s m fault, the place looked quiet so i should have expected to have non fresh food). The wine tasted ok but was way over priced. The service didn’t go with the price(you would expect in high prices place to have high quality customer service but they were treating us like they wanted us to eat and drink and leave in 5 minutes. i’d never come back to this silly place, i wish if i still live in Manhattan(i love Ayza Wine and chocolate place in midtown, too bad it’s a bit far now since i live in LIC, but i guess it’ll be worth the trip when i crave for good wine, cheese and chocolate.

When I saw this place opened up, I was so excited to try it. Date nights are hard to arrange for us as new parents, but we wanted to give it a try. I struggled to give this a fair rating… I am conflicted because some parts were fantastic, and others… not so much. Price: Negative. This place is EXPENSIVE. $$ is not accurate. More like $$$. We went here after already eating a late lunch as we figured it would be a light meal. We ordered one bottle of red wine(which was one of the cheaper ones on the menu but already $ 45); one pâté appetizer, and a cheese platter with 5 cheese slices, and the chocolate fondue for dessert. The meal cost us $ 140… For that price, we could have ordered full-course meals, desserts, and wine at other restaurants. Had we not eaten before hand we would have gone home hungry. Ambience: Neutral here… I actually really liked the feel of the place. It was cozy and small, nice music. Being able to have a conversation without screaming is always a plus. We sat at the window so we could people watch… but be careful if you sit there — that table is warped in such a way that if you’re not careful in your placement, your wine glasses will slide right off. The server and the owner both warned us of that in advance so we avoided some nasty spills. The restaurant also lost power while we were there, but quickly put it back on. Service: Great. Initially we had a server but then the owner himself came by to speak with us and recommend dishes. We love wine, cheese, and chocolate and are pretty open to trying things, so after getting an idea of how adventurous we were, he put together a cheese combination for us and paired the wine. He was very passionate about his cheeses, and after tasting them it was clear he knew what he was doing! Food/drink: Delicious! I loved everything he served us. I normally am not a fan of blue cheese or brie — I find them to be too strong/bitter for me. But we trusted him and I am so glad we did. I now have two favorite cheeses that I never would have tried them on my own. I wish I could find them outside of this restaurant. I LOVELOVELOVED the Brie de Fermier and the La Peral blue cheese from Spain. I heavily recommend ordering those if you are choosing cheeses on your own. The pâté was good, but honestly I’ve had tastier ones from the local Urban Market’s cheese section, so I probably wouldn’t order that again if we go back. The wine was delicious as well. All in all… I think this place could really rake it in if they just lowered their prices to be more reasonable. I would love to go back, but if I’m going to spend that kind of money, I’d rather get a full dining experience.

When I saw there was a wine & cheese place to open in LIC, I was so excited! However, after visiting I am really disappointed! I came here with a friend who was visiting from out of town as she loves cheese! When we were seated our server explained how things worked as it was our first visit. He advised us that they do not stock all of the cheeses on the menu and so if we let him know what we like he will recommend a cheese to compliment our wine. So straight away I was wondering why they even bothered with a menu if you can’t actually order from everything that is on it. So while we decided we ordered our wine. I found the selection to be quite pricey, especially compared to other establishments in the area. The wine that my friend would typically order was $ 17 a glass. Once we ordered our wine(1 white &1 red), our server advised that it was a great choice as luckily the same types of cheese would go well with both the wines we had selected. By this point I kind of felt I was being told what I wanted to hear rather than actual factual information(I feel bad saying it, but I got the feeling I was being spun something). In the end, we decided to go for the cheese and meat board($ 25) on the menu, where the chef chooses the cheese for you. I found the portion to be quite small, with just a thin slice of each cheese. There was a larger portion of meat than cheese. The cheese tasted fine, but I just would have liked more! Based on this experience, I would not feel a need to return. Although I saw another tables cheese board that came out after ours that looked a lot better, so maybe if I tried a different selection I may have a different opinion. Overall I did not feel I got value for money.

We sat at the bar and enjoyed the conversation along with our drinks. I started with a pinot noir that I’m very comfortable with and quickly learned more about the wines from the friendly couple that owns the place. They poured me a taste of a wine I’d never heard of. The wine by the glass list is diverse enough to be interesting and small enough to be approachable. And that doesn’t even day anything about their cheese selection. Amazing food and drinks with a relaxed and romantic vibe. Check it out.

The owners were super friendly and attentive, and the wine(Cabernet and Syrah), vegetarian flatbread, and dark chocolates were all delicious. Bonus: the inside is beautifully crafted/designed by the owners. This will definitely be my go-to place for a glass of wine and my chocolate fix!

Ran in here last week to beat the coffee rush in the morning. Very disappointed. The coffee was OK but the croissants were a huge let down. Im pretty sure they came from Costco’s bakery. Considering there are so many places in LIC that do coffee and pastries really well(Sweetleaf and Canelles are notable examples), i had high hopes for this place. The décor is really nice, but if youre gonna be open for the morning rush, you gotta know your competition. Pros: nice décor, decent coffee. Cons: definitely store bought pastries.

My boyfriend and I went here last night for our anniversary after going to the comedy show close by and we loved it! We only went in to grab wine and dessert and ended up ordering wine, an assorted cheese, meat, and olive plate, and chocolates. I loved the décor, and our waiter, Raphael was able to make some great suggestions based off of our likings.

I went to Gizi tonight with a few friends and had a wonderful evening We had a little tasting tonight we ordered a bunch of appetizers, caprese, smoked salmon, hummus, Avocado Boat, Flatbreads, manwhich, wurst and a few other items which where delicious as well. They have a huge selection of wine we had Merlot, Pinot Noir noir, Prosecco and Crisp Chardonnay. The lighting and the décor was very cozy and intimate. The service was excellent I know this new place will need reservations to get into shortly.

I love this place. Gizi is run by a great couple who love wine, cheese and chocolates. I have been here twice, and they’ve only been open 9 days. Tell them what kind of cheeses you like and they will make up a great cheese plate for you. They will also recommend a wine based on what cheeses you order and what kind of wines you like. Tonight we also got the meat selection. All meats are made from chicken or beef or duck(no pork). The chicken liver pâté was the BEST I have ever had. The duck proscuitto was also excellent. Highly, highly recommended.!!
