The bar was ok. The bartender was an absolute rude prick I will never come here again. His attitude was poisen. It’s my goddamn birthday: screw you lic bar

Getting there. Driving was easy, on street parking was a bit hard. However, I’m betting this is likely the result of the LIC Food Fair going on. Nevertheless, there was a parking garage nearby, so parking became a non-issue. Food. It’s whatever you want. No food is served, but you can order what you want and have it delivered. Drinks. Very decent options, and all well priced. Ambience. The biggest draw was that the outdoor area is dog friendly, and it was pleasing to see other dogs around. No barking, no playing around — all the dogs were very well behaved. The outdoor is indeed very chill — open tables, a fireplace in the back, open view of the sky. It’s a nice spot as long as the weather is nice. There were some loud groups around — in particular a group of about 7 – 8 that must have been playing the most intense Go Fish game eva’.(Assuming lives were on the line given the intensity.) Other than that, it was packed with exactly what you expect in a Long Island City spot — bros, hipsters, single late 20/early 30 year olds. I’m a fan, and will very likely return again.

I came here for the LIC Reading Series and I really liked the space. Its a nice bar with a pub feel and plenty of space. Cute backyard with a bunch of tables that would be perfect for the warmer days. They do the reading series the second Tuesday of every month and I was lucky enough to meet John leguizamo since he was promoting his new book Ghetto Clown. They have a pretty stocked up bar and drinks were reasonable($ 7 for wine)

If you’re looking for a decently priced spot with good vibes, this is it. It’s winter, but we were hanging in the outdoor space(which I’m sure is amazing in the summer). Thumbs up!

LIC Bar has a good beer selection, a nice ambience, a quiet and ample outdoor space, and live music of various genres multiple nights a week. The place has a lot of wood that could probably use a little restoration to give the place a cleaner feel but it’s not too bad. Probably the biggest knock against this place is the bartenders. With the exception of one or two of them they are pretty un-personable and cold(the skinny guy that’s always there is the worst). Regardless a nice place to grab a drink and more reasonable then a lot of the other bars in the LIC area.

Cool place with a nice crowd and vibe in a happening neighborhood. Both times I’ve been here in the evening it’s been packed and had good live music.

Drank two sips of my beer and promptly left after being aggressively told by two regulars that«this was their corner of the bar» even though there were two empty stools and enough room for 5 people. I’d rather go somewhere where people don’t spit at you for standing at an open spot of bar. If that’s your thing, you’ll love this place. I’m going down the street.

Early in the evening they have the tables in there and it is low key and cool and fun. Last Saturday Midnight struck and a jug band started playing. It was a little much for me so I left. But I would go back. the drinks were good.

Any bar that shushes people for being too loud isn’t the bar for me. I don’t care how early it is, I don’t care what day of the week it is. If there’s no show, if it ain’t a fancy cocktail lounge, if people aren’t screaming, I don’t see why anyone would be told to keep it down. Maybe it was my fault for bringing my beers into the library in the first place…

Place has a really cool vibe. Really nice beer selection of both macro and micro brews. One of the relatively few bars in the area with TVs which is a huge plus on Sundays and Saturdays. Really cool patio area. Reasonably priced, never over crowded. Overall awesome spot for your local neighborhood watering hole.

Decent place, nice backyard. There was live music at some point. My only complaint is that I had looked at the website before going and it said something about BBQ backyard. I assumed that meant there would be BBQ food there and held off on eating, but when I got there there was no evidence of any barbecue. People were bringing in food from neighboring businesses. I should have done that myself, but didn’t want to leave the group. I ended up drinking a bunch of beers on an empty stomach instead, which was dumb.

I’ve been going to LIC Bar for a few months ago and was thinking it’d become a new neighborhood staple of mine. Pretty earthy, low-key bar with solid beer selection and a great outdoor area in the back. Good place to chill with friends or go out on a date. I am, however, pretty annoyed at how they treat their customers. I accidentally left my credit card at the bar without closing my tab(granted, my fault) and upon picking my card up a few days later, found that I’d been charged close to double the original bar tab. I get that bartenders need to close out the tab, but this really irked me and makes me not want to come back to LIC Bar.

Came here for drinks at night Solid option for a bar, they serve no food but allow you to bring your own. It is spacious and they have one of my favorite beers, but the selection is not that big. I’ll be coming back

Great local spot in LIC. I have stopped by several times with some friends and it has always proven to be a crowd pleaser. They have a great outdoor area that is closed in. The outdoor area is between two buildings and the walls help keep the space cozy, while still enjoying the outside weather. They frequently have live music, which is one of my favorite things. I love the feeling of the interior, you can tell that it has been there for a long time and has a lot of character. I feel very comfortable when I am there and enjoy the casual ambience. You can find their event calendar on their website which is always up to date. I would definitely suggest checking it out!

Great looking place with a nice backyard area to relax. Three stars because I have honestly not seen a bartender treat patrons so rudely as what I saw this bald guy with a goatee do. I wasn’t on the receiving end of this as much as other patrons. I don’t know if this treatment is a «thing» about this place since its only been the second time I’ve been here. I.e. do people come here to get ribbed on, Soup Nazi style? Well guess what, Mr. Rude Bartender, I certainly wasn’t aware, but seriously. I came in with some others for a drink, I shouldnt have to worry about approaching my bartender for it. Some things overheard said to other patrons by Mr. R. B… ” Are you kidding me? Whats the FIRSTNAME” «I’ll teach you how to order» «…dickhead» I couldn’t believe how much crap the locals take here from this guy,(or unsuspecting new patrons) guaranteed lost business from those guys. He was a little better to the females, and honestly that’s to be expected so no complaints there… just don’t be such a disgusting human being behind the nice bar to your fellow males. I’m not a SJWBTW. Just observing.

The owner is an absolute ass. He stopped serving pitchers incase we give them to ‘underage’ people and then happily served us 5 beers at 8 bucks each. He wanted to just charge more. This place is an absolute dump and the owner is a joke!!! Avoid When I tipped zero the bar owner threatened me and said he knows where I live…

I can’t really put a real review here. But I did enjoy the place! and the drinks are great! and I love the fact that it has an outside spot to chill on warm days! I would come back again for a full review. But so far, so good! I see potential and possible becoming a regular!

Cool local neighborhood spot to grab a beer & hear some live music. We came here on a lazy Sunday and was super excited as we heard the live band playing from the front. It wasn’t too packed which is great so there was plenty of room to enjoy and hear our party converse. NO entrance fee to hear and enjoy the band makes it even all the more better! They have a nice garden patio in the back where the band set up show and there were rows of chairs scattered around for the bar patrons to sit. I saw a few people bring their kids & dogs inside so its def a family friendly type of place when ever a band is playing on a relaxing mid-afternoon sunday. Good vibes here all around!

Pretty sure we’re not allowed back here. Okay, that’s a bit drastic, but we were very belligerent people telling offensive jokes loudly at 2pm on a Sunday. For that, LIC bar is a great venue. They have a sizeable backyard, and air conditioning and a pool table inside. Our bartender was nice enough, though she had a very strange foreign sense of humor. Not the greatest beer selection, but seems like a good place to catch a game.

Stopped in last summer because I heard a buzz of good tunes around the corner. Decided to stay for a drink which turned into several. There was a french acoustic guitarist who sang beautifully. Sitting by the open window to feel the cooling late august air reverberate with french six string. I returned recently on a Monday to hear another guitarist I met at The Giving Tree. It was memorable in all good ways. Nice lighting, non-egotistical crowd, $ 5 drafts. You can spill on the wood table, later put your elbow in it, and still have a smile on. ATM is higher up and it’s one of those which display your balance either way. It’s fun to watch people cover it up. I’ll be back to hang in their garden. Places like this invoke thoughts like, «LIC ain’t that bad» but then you walk to your car and hope nothing comes out of the shadows.

The Irish bartender guy is definitely a racist. I went there with a friend of mines a few weeks ago. Everyone around was having a good time drinking pitchers with glass mugs. When my friend and i go up to get a pitcher and the guy gives us plastic cups! I mean jesus fucking christ you might as well give us straws with that too! And every question we asked as far as drinks or pricing it was all with a short, get to the point responses. No customer service what so ever. Or maybe its no customer service for non whites. My friend and i felt so violated and hurt because of that type of service. I thought about telling the owner about my experience but i figured if he’s hiring racists he’s probably one too. I spoke to one other friend of mines who is a manager at another bar in the and he told me that he brought one of his black coworkers there and he has had also had an awkward racial experience. Im never going back here again. Theres many other better bars in the area that are equal opportunity and are open to non whites. I swear it felt like the apartheid in that god damn place. I felt like i was going to have to go to the black bathroom to take a leak. I hope the owner reads this and fires this jack ass.

Came here with a pretty large group close to when it opened, and I was definitely pleased with the amount of space in this bar. Beer selection is above average, but definitely not the largest craft beer selection in the area(pretty much Magic Hat, Sierra Nevada, etc.). I’d say that the ambiance is somewhere above divey, but not quite a place you’d want to spend all night at. I was here in the winter, so I didn’t get to experience the outdoor patio, but I could definitely imagine LIC Bar gaining a few points in my book during the summer if I could sit out there and drink all afternoon. They allow you to bring outside food into the bar also, so that’s always a nice perk.

LIC holds a special place in my oft drunken, classic bar loving heart. The long walk from court square down 45th street can be mentally defeating; block after desolate block of warehouse lends the impression that all hope is lost, and you are in fact in the middle of an unending industrial desert. But then something magical happens — you finally stumble upon Vernon Boulevard. Take a quick look to your left, that little neon light that spells out the word BAR? Yep, that shiny beacon of hope is the light of an oasis offering you sweet relief from the wasteland; run to it as fast as you can. Walking into LIC you find a bar that looks a bit worn from years of use, which if I’m being honest is one of the reasons I like the place so much. Yes new bars are flashy and fun, and it’s great exploring a new spot; but there is something to be said for a place that has lived among the warehouses for a hundred years(in what used to be the middle of nowhere) and has managed to survive. There is an old wooden bar and a few tables upfront, bench/picnic seating in the back, and a makeshift seating area off to the side that doubles as a stage when the place hosts live music acts(which it does on a regular basis). They have an awesome courtyard with a classic stone floor that I can’t get enough of in the summer, and hosts a great Christmas tree in the winter. This yard really is the bars party piece(aside from the awesome live music), with its flowers and simple seating; it’s a great place to be when it’s warm. The back of the yard has a makeshift«bar shed» that has holds a couple of tables and a few flat screen TV’s, separated from the elements by wonderful French doors that they open up when its warm(really aesthetically pleasing to me, I love sitting in that little shed with a beer). LIC Bar is a must visit if you are in the neighborhood; stop by for 3 $ high life’s(and an 11 $ pitcher of Heineken… or two), a classic bar scene, and of course some awesome live music.

Buy Backs!!! I love this place simply because when you order a lot you get some drinks for free. I like that they support singers and have live bands. :Bathroom Alert: Clean, Clean, Clean. The atmosphere is pretty chill. I love the exposed brick and the ceilings. The back area is so pretty which a stage for more music. I just don’t like that they don’t offer food but you can order out and have them deliver while you drink a beer.
