My expectations for Spice were pretty high as I’d enjoyed my dining experience at their Cobble Hill location about a month ago. Once we entered the hostess greeted us with a smile and we were seated promptly. We went with two cocktails, one lychee martini and a Bacardi punch. When we were brought out our drinks my husband and I laughed bc his drink was in the tiniest cup. I’m talking like a kid sized cup that was missing the sippy top, it was ridiculous. The cup we got water in was way bigger. Both of our drinks looked exactly alike too(except mine was in a martini glass) which was weird bc they didn’t have the same ingredients. After one sip we realized we must have ordered juice bc all we could taste was the artificial sweetness from all the syrup they added. We were able to down them straight and they had absolutely no affect on us… like I said juice. Strike one Our appetizers were horrible. We ordered the Nabon steamed dumplings and the vegetable dumplings. The veggie dumplings were extremely dry and full of mush. The only thing I could recognize in the dumplings was the peas. The Nabon dumplings… same thing; mushy, flavorless and dry. Strike two For entrees I went with the white fish massaman curry with brown rice and the Mr got the Nabon noodles. The nabon noodles had only 3 shrimp and were oily as hell. Hubs took one spoonful and pushed his plate to the side. The massaman curry I ordered was specifically advertised as «a thick, flavorful curry sauce». What I received was a watered down, flavorless curry with undercooked potatoes. I took a few bites, told them to pack it up, paid the bill and left. Sttiiii-rike three, your outta here! There are too many other good Thai restaurants out there. Never again

I don’t know why but the food here has gotten very bad of late. Used to be hit or miss now is always miss. I just ordered chicken pat Thai and it is worse than dog food. I threw it away and are cereal instead. Used to be good!

If I could give this zero stars then I would! The receptionist and the manager are the worst! We arrived before all the others and they were sat before us. We asked for explanation as the tables weren’t reserved! DON’T GOHERE!

Cute looking spot but I’m giving the food here 3 stars and the service 2 stars. Do not come here if you are looking for authentic Thai food or any authentic version of any Asian cuisine– this is strictly Americanized. We(party of six) had no reservations and showed up. It was great to be seated promptly but that was the only good thing about the service. I don’t remember if we were served water but table was empty. Drinks we ordered came way after the appetizers(and after we asked about them). Appetizers were placed on the table but there was no plates or utensils or napkins and we had to ask for these basic things. Kinda just felt ignored the whole time– it wasn’t packed or anything — I mean there were other tables dining. The food came out quickly at the very least. Now, we ordered a ton of food and I barely glanced at the menu– But from what I do remember — the calamari was good but the batter wasn’t sticking to it at all. The spring rolls we ordered tasted(and there’s no other adjective for it) boring. I liked the shrimp dumplings. As far as entrees, pad Thai was way too sweet. The red curry we ordered was spicy but I don’t remember any dimension of flavor there. Basically, that’s all I remember. It was a mediocre Thai meal, and for a place called Spice of course I expected better. But at the very least it wasn’t pricey! I might not come again but the food was decently priced with portions you can’t really complain about.

Arrived here on a random Saturday night when the distance to the city wasn’t warranted but I was already on the LIE headed towards the city though and I was like LIC is right here. I initially had my mind set up to go to BareBurger but wifey was like, «Nahhh». So, we worked our way to Vernon Blvd. and parked the automobile. Walking up and Down a few blocks, Vernon Blvd restaurants were pretty busy. So we stopped by Spice, a place I have bookmarked for awhile. Upon entering, we were immediately seated but also parallel to the door and it was nippy out, so every time the door opened, a bone chill went up the vertebrae. Luckily, a couple left 5 minutes later and we switched over to a corner table. The ambiance here is mildly romantic and interesting décor(see pictures). The venue isn’t too big, probably the size of a studio apartment but it’s still a good looking space with a big open Bar. The menu is primarily Thai infused, so there are spicy elements, but I stayed clear of those. We ordered pineapple fried rice which chicken, duck salad, lettuce wraps with chicken and vegetable spring rolls. Few things I didn’t like was that everything literally came out at once when I told them not to rush. Regardless of that, the food was pretty decent, as per wifey. The chicken wrap with lettuce was pretty spicy and not to my taste, to which I was misled by the server, when I clearly expressed to her that I don’t like too spicy. Nevertheless a good place, but not for my taste buds, menu is full of spicy dishes and seafood.

Service is awful. It’s painful to place an order for delivery. Every person who answers the phone is difficult to understand and they basically don’t want you to order. They make the entire process really difficult and they choose what they want to deliver. I always order the pad Thai which is really good, so is the curry chicken and I order dessert. On any given night they will say that they won’t deliver dessert even though they have delivered it countless times so annoying then they tell you 5x that it’s a long wait and ask if you really want to order. After answering this same question 3 times it makes you feel like they don’t want your order bc they are just too busy! They need someone who speaks clearly and has phone manners to answer the phone. It’s so annoying because the food is actually very good.

Came a Friday night with no reservations but was seated rather quickly. Got the Thai ice tea it was very good and the pineapple fried rice with half a duck tasted really good very crispy. Service was pretty good food came out in a good amount of time. And for two entrées an appetizer and 2 non alcoholic drinks the bill came out to around 50 so very reasonably priced

Do not order from here. On a busy, Sunday night I thought it would be much simpler to order in than to cook. Boy, was I wrong. I ordered the mock duck and the curry. Both descriptions of the food were wrong. The duck was spicy without warning. The curry barely had a potato. To top it all off I received 2 very small rice containers, half filled. Who skimps on rice? I was, and am still highly disappointed.

For a while, Spice was the only Thai restaurant with online ordering. I caved in a few times but it’s not worth it. The noodle dishes are very plain versions of themselves. The curry is consistently either way too watery or a solid, peanut-butter-like paste(see photo for a watery rendition of their Massaman curry). Portions are also quite small when delivered.

Run of the mill Thai food restaurant with basic lunch specials. I had my usual, Pad Thai and green tea. I enjoyed the food very much and the portions were perfect. I took off a star because it seemed the service was a bit slow, but not unbearable. It is out of my way so I wouldn’t go out my way to go back but if i was in the area I would definitely go again.

A friend of mine took me he re for lunch. The place was very cozy and casual. I liked the decorations they put in. The food was good. I ordered a Thai bubble tea, Tom yum soup and pad thai fried rice. Their Bubble tea reminded me of of Faluda in india. my friend got a mango margarita, he said it was ok. Tom yum soup is must try here! It’s just awesome! The pad thai was very sweet but okay to eat.

Order the delivery today, it came reasonable Time. BUT, what a surprise ! $ 18 seafood combo, looks like $ 7, $ 8 lunch plate and with a little Tiny white rice on the side. I call to Spice up to make sure that is right size, but turns out that is the one $ 18 seafood combo they only have, 3ps tiny baby shrimp, 3ps mussels and some tiny baby squid and 2 pc tiny white fish .I know here is LIC. Every thing is expensive. But… I ordered out a lots, because my work and I know how big the $ 18 seafood gonna be. Never order again ever!!!

I feel like this is my go to place when I don’t know where to eat. The food is pretty good, tastes like average Thai food in my opinion. I always order the fried calamari as an appetizer, thai iced tea as a drink and drunken man noodles with shrimp as my entrée. I tried to be adventurous and order different things, but frankly speaking, they weren’t all that. I will stick to my regular order. I think this place is just convenient, train station is right there, the piers are right there. Good casual date spot. Sometimes my friends and I order the food to go and eat it at the piers. It’s cool either way though.

It’s difficult for me to justify giving this place more than 2 stars. While the interior and service of Spice was fine, the food just doesn’t cut it. The Pad Thai seemed like a half portion and tasted like ketchup, yet they still charge you $ 11.00 for it. The Panang Curry had about four beans, two slivers of bell pepper, and three of the saddest pieces of chicken I’ve ever seen. I’ve also had the unfortunate experience of having food delivered from here. I’m convinced the delivery guy hates the world because when I came to the door he basically threw the food at me and grumbled not-so-sweet-nothings under his breath as he stomped away. If you want good Thai, steer clear of this place. Tuk Tuk is right down the street.

I have eaten at spice a number of times but have usually end up ordering the same thing, pad thai. Always my favorite. I have also tried the calamari and salads. The portion sizes are pretty big so I have always ended up with left overs. I would also recommend trying their lunch special. Or on the weekends when you order before 3pm. You can a free appetizer with your entrée. Not a bad deal!

I love shrimp. Love em. Spice does shrimp the right way! I was really just walking around and saw this place. I took a look at the menu on the door and frankly, you can’t beat an $ 8 lunch special that includes an appetizer and entre in this area. I was seated and attended to quickly. It took me a few to decide what to eat. Lots of spicy items on the menu, but I didn’t know HOW spicy and had to go back to the office. I chose the shrimp frites and garlic & herb shrimp. Everything was awesome. Even the water had a great taste. I’ll post pics, and I already have friends in mind who I have to bring-as they like spicy food. I believe spinach was served with the entre. I don’t even like spinach, but I crushed it! It was sooo good with the broccoli and green beans. They also have a full bar, BTW.

Spice gets 4 stars for service alone. After wandering up and down Vernon on a hot and humid Friday night, we were in desperate need of food and hydration. We stopped to look at the menu posted outside the doors of Spice and were immediately sold. Inside, there were only 2 other groups dining. The a/c was blowing ice cold air right by the entrance so the first thing you noticed was the refreshing cold air, the second thing we noticed was the smell of the intoxicating food. The lights are dim, the interior(as in the walls and even the bar) are dark. For a drink I went with the mango margarita. This was delicious and perfectly refreshing on such a warm night. For our apps we decided to split the crab ragoon(not the best I’ve had but not the worst), the spicy sausage(just okay), and the chicken satay(the peanut sauce was delicious). For my entrée I went with the crispy half chicken, which came with a side of fried rice. The chicken was good but definitely not what I would call«crispy». The fried rice was amazing and very, very filling. Our water glasses never went dry and the waitress checked on us without ever being overbearing. When we were leaving, the bartender wished us a goodnight and told us to get home safe. It’s the little things like that that earn 4 stars from me. Is the food the best Thai you’ll ever eat? Nope, not at all. Does the service make up for that? Yes, 100%.

We ordered delivery through seamless. We asked for chopsticks and plates but unfortunately it came with none. They estimated an hour but they came in 30 min which was great. The pad Thai is excellent here. The noodles are cooked perfectly and so moist(usually pad Thai can be dry). Loved! The black noodle is aka pad see ew. The drunk man noodle dish has good pieces of seafood especially squid. The red thunder fried rice wasn’t spicy but it was also good. I would’ve given them 5 stars based on the above but unfortunately The spiced Caesar salad was neither spiced nor Caesar meaning romaine lettuce. It was straight up a container of iceberg lettuce.
