As the other posters say, this place is not much to look at, but the food is awesome! I had the chicken special and it was the best grilled chicken I have ever had! The place seems to fill up with blue collar locals at lunch time and our waitress spoke very little English. Did I mention the food was awesome? Oh, the prices are dirt cheap.

Absolutely the best grilled/bbq/style chicken in town. Most of the people who work there only speak Spanish but there is usually someone who speaks English. The best thing they have is a whole or half chicken. It comes with a single serving of rice and beans and salsa. Order some green sauce on the side if you like it spicy. Good corn tortillas and the BEST flour tortillas around. Updated 2014 — Still as good as ever only now they accept credit cards.

Great food at a very reasonable price. Their tacos are off the charts. Don’t go here looking for a cool or trendy atmosphere… it’s pretty lacking in that regard. But, if you want good chicken at a great price… El Pollo Cachuchon is your place!

Excellent authentic Mexican chicken! Pollo azado al carbon, or so the sign out front claims. But if you’re just from East Texas, that means grilled chicken, moderately seasoned, grilled to perfection over open coals. If you don’t believe it, you can watch it being done behind a glass just off the lobby. It’s served on a plate, with grilled onions, a hot pepper, and a few slices of lime. Bean(not re-fried, but real beans) and rice are available as a side. Nothing fancy about this place, as David H, pointed out, but the food is front and center, as it should be. It’s on the south side of Longview. At lunch half the patrons first language probably isn’t English. At dinner, the percentage is probably a good bit higher. But I’ve always been made to feel welcome and I don’t speak a lick of Spanish. The waitstaff has always spoken good English. The restaurant also seems to do a decent take out business, and once you try the chicken, you’ll understand why. The flan is pretty good, too.

If you’re looking for no frills pollo asada in a no frills environment, this place is the final destination. If you’re looking for something other than pollo asada, keep looking. This is as good a grilled chicken as you will find anywhere. Period. There’s not much in the way of service, atmosphere or extras. But there is some seriously outstanding pollo asada. Smiley face for the chicken.
