R.I.P. Udipi Good food & I’ve always had excellent service. The location was not convenient or very inviting though. If you reopen, please consider downtown Orlando, we’re lacking Indian restaurants here.

Udipi was my absolute favorite Indian restaurant for YEARS. But alas, like many good things, it’s come to an end: UDIPIHASCLOSEDDOWN. As of about two weeks ago, the place is closed for business. I will forever miss their paneer makhini and garlic naan. RIP Udipi :(

Now the last time I was here was in 2008 — only because I moved out of town. However I feel obliged to write a review for them because their food was great and the service also great, every time. This place was out of the way for us but always worth the drive and we miss it!

Ok, I’m sure it’s just me. I LOVE Indian food. Love it. But this joint … Not good. Masala Dosai was good, coconut chutney was creamy but is it me or does this place have some cleanliness issues? Samosas were subpar and that smell was definitely not incense or rose water. Clean up your act a little, Udipi. If you must eat here, get it to go.

It isn’t the prettiest place to look at but the food makes up for it. I came for the lunch buffet on a Saturday. Buffet is from 11:30 — 3:00 and costs 8.95, which I think is reasonable. The staff were friendly and attentive, they explained a couple of things I’d never seen before and the food was all interesting and delicious. I’m not normally one for vegetarian food but there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like. They brought fresh dosas to the table and some of the things I recognized on the buffet were idlis and chutneys, dal, two types of rice, a chana masala, and a pea and tofu tikka dish. There were also quite a few things I’d never had but were also good. The selection is good and the price is fair. It seems clean enough and the staff is friendly. All in all it’s ok. PS– I forgot to mention that I abhor tofu, yet liked the tofu dish the most. That says something. That says a lot actually. Good job on making that stuff palatable.

Had the Chana Batura. Just chickpeas and bread, but so heavenly that I ate it all and am overstuffed. Great value and I can’t wait to try everything else!

Never been to the lunch buffet, but have enjoyed Udipi Café for dinner. Great vegetarian Indian food. Polite and fast service. I have been many times and I’ll go again.

This is the filthiest restaurant that I have been to in a very long time. Service was terrible. Food was buffet style and not pleasant to look at. Walls were painted but needed a second coat to cover up the old paint. Ceiling covered with water stains. And when you grab the door handle on the way out you will feel all the grime on the back of the handle. Gross. Stay away.

Head here for the lunch buffet. Completely worth your time. They even have a dish on the buffet that resembles«Sloppy Joe», but it’s made with some meat substitute, and still served on a plain hamburger bun. Every buffet comes with a giant Dosa pancake/crêpe filled with potato and vegetable — delicious. The food is all vegetarian. (hint: Udipi is a region of India that is known for vegetarian food, see Wikipedia for more info) Would definitely come here again, despite the fact that it’s almost up in Longwood, which is not close to my home. Hopefully I’ll have a good excuse to go again soon!

Delicious. The food and service earn five stars. The vegetarian food is so good, that even a meat-loving friend had no complaints. The menu is long, the servings are large, and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere earns one star. The ambiance is sterile as it is brightly lighted and there are few, if any, decorations; it doesn’t conjure any feeling that you’re eating in an Indian restaurant.

This is a vegetarian Indian restaurant on 17⁄92 just south of 434. They attempt to be Vegan but a few of the dishes they use milk or cheese, just ask and they will point them out. I had the buffet which was about $ 8.50 The server lady was very sweet and nice but not a chit-chatter unless you got her started. The food, there were 2 kinds of rice white and yellow demon rice. The demon rice seemed like an odd name but It was good it was yellow and had some various seed and spices in it. When we arrived she asked if we wanted Dosa, she brought it out a few minutes later it was a crispy thin pancake rolled up like a burrito and filled in the center with potato paste. Decent. The Channa Masala(chick peas in a thick sauce) was tasty. A dish that had potatoes and some spices in it was also very good. Other items on the buffet were: * Uttapam pancakes that had diced onions and peas and were fresh and tender. * Kadi — yellow sour soup(not vegan) * Yellow Dal(lentil) — bland, but it is at most indian places * Nann(bread)bit chewy * Dwalha? — Carrot dessert sweet with cashews in it. Udipi is very vegan friendly but occasional items may use cheese or milk just ask. Restaurant is very clean and well taken care of though not especially busy. They are closed on Tuesdays.
