We scheduled our wedding reception here in mid-September. We chose it based only on website photos. The location seemed ideal and the price was quite reasonable. We went ahead and reserved both the banquet room and the adjoining private deck for our potluck dinner, so we would have flexibility to be comfortable with good or bad weather – by mid-September it’s hard to predict. Three walls of the banquet room were mostly large windows looking out at the marina and bay. I expect that some other similar facilities would not be so happy about renting their room to a group bringing in all their own food, but the Islander was flexible about this, and we paid a fee to use their dishes, flatware, wine glasses etc. We arrived on Lopez Island two days prior to our wedding and visited the resort. It has a lovely setting looking out on the activities of the marina and an expansive view of the bay and beyond, with big pots of colorful flowers around the deck. The room was just the right size for our party of about 40 guests. With warmer, sunnier weather, the two spaces could easily accommodate quite a few more people. Like the island in general, the staff and customers seemed pretty laid back. We asked if we could start setting up the room the morning of the event and Kathy was quite accommodating. When we arrived, the room looked very nice, with crisp white tablecloths and table settings. We added flowers and candles to personalize the space. Kathy was very nice and helpful. She was fine with providing additional dishes and tables than what we’d planned on and even allowed us to use the kitchen briefly in setting up our food. Her staff was also prompt and helpful in meeting our needs. The event was a great success and many of our guests commented on what a pleasant and scenic place it was. It was an amazing value and we’d heartily recommend this facility to anyone planning a similar event.

The marina was a great place to stay on your boat, with access to the restaurant and pool. The restaurant was fine — decent calamari and sliders during happy hour, good beer selection, etc. The view from the pool could not be better — 180 degree looking west at the harbor, the water, San Juan’s, and beyond. We can’t vouch for the rooms, as we didn’t stay there(we were in the marina, remember), but the rest was a good value on a great island.

Wow. This place was interesting to say the least. My boyfriend and I stayed here this last weekend to attend a family wedding on the island. Now I know we should have paid the extra $ 100 to stay at the Eden Wild Bed and Breakfast. The Lopez Island«resort» was nothing like the photos. First off, WiFi was not available(though the website stated otherwise), the rooms were very basic and smelled strongly of cleaning products, and everything is extremely outdated. If this place got a «face lift» perhaps I’d come back.

If I ever need a place to stay on Lopez it won’t be here. At $ 208 a night I’d rather spend a little bit more at one of the many bed and breakfasts on the island. We had issues with our reservations from the get-go when we started trying to reserve our room months ago. As it was we had to move to a different room on the 2nd night. No wifi in the rooms and the wifi down at the restaurant had been down since a power outage that happened days ago. The rooms were dated and drab looking. The soda machines either were out of stole our money. The pool was ok but the hot tub started foaming like crazy when we turned the jets on. All the inflatable pool toys had holes in them. But it was the service in the restaurants that really got my goat. We had breakfast and drinks for happy hour. It took 15 minutes both times for someone to even acknowledge we were standing there waiting to be seated. Drinks and food took 40 minutes to arrive. Both tasted great but we were so irritated it was hard to enjoy. The breakfast experience was, once again, tedious. 20 minutes for a table even though there was no one eating on the back deck. Servers walking past us and not even making eye contact. Pancakes only came with 2 slices of bacon. Breakfasts seemed to be lacking creativity for an island-based menu. Overall I guess I just wasn’t impressed. I saved up to be able to stay here for my cousin’s wedding. For $ 416 dollars for a long weekend I was anticipating a high end experience, good food, awesome service, clean and updated rooms and functioning equipment. Now I feel like I’m $ 416 poorer with nothing to show for it.

We stayed on what they called the RV park. There were really no designated spaces and RVs had to fight for or share water and/or electrical hook ups. The spaces were dirty with woodsy debris that could have been cleaned up with a rake. The showers were in the pool area that required a code to enter. Once I got in I realized there was a need for $ 2 worth of quarters to use the shower for six minutes. I think the only time people come here is in desperation when the state and county campgrounds are full.

this was to be the resort reserved by the wedding couple for my daughter’s wedding on Lopez Island. when we got there, they had no record of my room, despite the fact that i had confirmed by last name and room description less than a week earlier. we were not the only ones double booked — the best man was forced to move out of his reserved-months-ago room the second night and upgrade at his own expense to a larger room because they double booked his room on night two. the restaurant is mediocre at best, the rooms are old, there is no internet connection despite the promise of one(it apparently exists only in the hotel lobby across the street), and there wasn’t a single«i’m sorry» for any of the double booked rooms. we will never be back here, and will caution anyone considering it to stay away.

THIS place is a JOKE! $ 28 for bringing lap dog! The dog didn’t even care for the accommodations! No HOUSE cleaning people to be found surprised this place still is operating! Not many REPEAT customers I’m SURE! Staff appeared to be CHALLENGED!

The first time we came to this marina/resort was during the August long weekend(long weekend for us Canadians anyway). Small glitch after we arrived on our boat and was assign a slip in the marina: the resort office couldn’t find our reservation, even though the dock master seemed to have it. No big deal, they had room so we paid and that was that. We were looking forward to checking this place out, seeing as it was one of only two marinas in Fisherman Bay, and within walking distance of Lopez Village. Out of the two marinas, this was the only one with amenities. It has a pool! And a hot tub! Well, we took one look at the pool(teeming with children), and the hot tub(over-chlorinated, and also teeming with slightly older children), and decided against going in. Despite the disappointment with the amenities, we were quite happy with the restaurant, which seems to have improved since the previous Unilocal reviews were posted. Service was quick and friendly, food came fast and hot. It wasn’t fancy, but it was satisfying. That was our first stay. The second time we came back to this resort was Labour Day weekend, a busy weekend to be sure. Which is why we called a week in advance to make a reservation for a slip in the marina. The dock master, or whoever answered the phone, took the reservation. Imagine our surprise when we arrived, and they said not only did they not have a reservation for us, the marina was fully booked! The staff in the resort office were not gracious about their mistake and didn’t offer to make amends in any way. Fortunately, the marina next door had a cancellation and they were able to fit us in, otherwise we were looking at a ruined long weekend trip. Talking to some of the staff at both marinas, it became clear that this was not an unusual occurrence, that this resort has flubbed reservations and double-booked guests before. If we ever decide to come back, we will make sure we have written confirmation and make a follow up phone call first.

We stayed at the hotel one night in August. The service is horrible. The people that work there seemed totally put out by having to check us in or answer any questions. The rate we were told on the phone was lower than the actual rate we ended up paying. I explained I was quoted a different rate over the phone and they were not willing to honor it so make sure you get your rate in writing when making the reservation. The room we had came with a microwave and fridge. Neither worked. Unfortunately we didn’t disover this until 9pm when we were making dinner. I asked for a discount when we checked out and they would not give us one. They said we should have called and asked them to fix it. The room was simple but clean. Expensive for the quality! We did not eat at the restaurant but friends did and did not recommend it. Bar was OK for drinks.

Naming this place a «resort» is sort of like naming your child«Angel» and then being surprised when she ends up a hooker. Even by PNW standards; this is not a resort! The«resort» comprises of a cheap building with rooms and a pool on the dry side of the street and the restaurant on the water side. The building itself is pretty nice with big exposed beams and a great view of the bay but the service, quality of food and value were terrible. There was just one server, and it could be he was also doing the cooking. Much better choice would be to go just down the street to The Galley.
