Boo hoo! Stopped by today only to find out one of our favorite outings is no more. Where can a girl get a porchetta sandwich now(the cold cut variety, not the Roli Roti extravaganza)?

So sad to see this place go! It was my great source for real Italian ingredients imported directly from Italy. I dropped by today and there was a 40% off everything closing sale. Maybe Italian food just is not as popular as it used to be to cook at home. Fond farewell! Anyone who knows of any other great Italian grocery outlets let me know!

The Tiramisu is OK: But, not enough liqueur flavor, and the marscarpone cheese is too dense, and not sufficiently mousse-like. They make it in-house using imported ingredients.

Got their prosciutto sandwich and it was totally tasteless. No saltiness, no porkiness, was this a vegetarian sandwich of air, olive oil, and stale focaccia bread? I’m still at a loss of what happened that day.

Great place for delicious tiramisu($ 20 for a medium sized pan) and all your Italian grocery needs.

There’s always a great selection of sandwiches and prepared foods to choose from. While my mom and dad always get the same parma prosciutto sandwich and one of the desserts from the case, I feel like I’m always choosing a different grilled sandwich.(If I were going for a cold sandwich, I’d probably go somewhere else — either across the street or down the street). Most recently, I ordered their special ham and cheese sandwich, that was already pre-made with 2 kids of cheese, marinated artichokes and grilled onions. All they needed to do was to put the sandwich in the press, and voila! It didn’t quite satisfy the grilled cheese craving I was having, but it was still a great sandwich. Oh, and I can’t forget that when I got home and opened the back, I found a little container of macaroni salad at the bottom that made me smile.

I come to AG Ferrari’s in Los Altos(and have been for quite some time) to enjoy their large selection of pastas and olive oils. I don’t like eating that Butoni or whatever the Safeway brands are… I enjoy real, Italian pasta, and let me tell you — this place has it! They also have a large selection of olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and cheeses. However, it’s important to note that this shop is located in downtown Los Altos(right next to Jamba Juice), which isn’t exactly known for its abundance of parking. So plan ahead! Also, the prices are on the higher side(but higher quality comes with the higher price).

Let me start by saying I am a big fan of Italian Delis. Love looking at and tasting all the different olive oils, cured meats, wines, etc. So a place like A.G. Ferrari is right up my «wheelhouse» so to speak. That said, I’ve been disappointed in the sandwiches I’ve gotten here. Recently I got the tri tip panini special and it simply was not good. It was hardly heated(and rather unevenly — there were warm parts, and then cold parts in the sandwich), the tomatoes used were mushy, and there were only a few small pieces of tri tip. The tomato bread soup I had with this sandwich was relatively bland — indeed, my companion who also ordered this soup barely ate hers because of the lack of flavor. It would seem that AG Ferrari should be a very successful business here in this relatively affluent area with many italiophiles, but they are not(indeed the Palo Alto location closed last year), and I am beginning to understand why.

I love coming here when I have a craving for prosciutto sandwich. It is a small store in downtown los altos. They have a great selection of curd meet and other foods and snacks. They have Sandwich and other salads etc. I esp like the sandwichs. Not to heavy and you can customize it the way you want. The sand wich that i get is the tomato mozzarella prosciutto and pesto on baguette sandwich. ITISSOBOMB! made just right and really big portion. I ate half of it and shared the other half. perfect for two people. The price is pretty good for what i got. Customer service is great!

great selection of pasta which looks to be imported direct from italy(hence the higher price tags). they have unique pasta that you cannot get at safeway or any other supermarket, i.e. cavatelli, cavatappi. they also carry a nice selection of fresh food items such as pasta, sandwiches, and salads. in the frozen section, you will find lasagna platters that you can take home, stick in the oven and serve a large family(or dinner party). their newest addition is the gelato bar, essentially, gelato on a stick, which is a nice treat for summertime. there are several tables and chairs inside so you can enjoy your meal or snack on-site.

Stopped by this place yesterday. Very nice old time Italian feel deli between the dried sausage/salami in the baskets & the nugget candy and bread sticks! We heard the whole story of the company falling apart and then recently recovered. They definitely sell items that are not found in Safeway! What I look forward to the most is trying out their famous ravioli.

I’m a fan! Upon entrance you notice that this is a compact store stocked with Italian goods ranging from pasta to olives to unique Italian candies and cookies. It’s very clean and orderly. But I don’t patron the shop for its olive oils unfortunately. I come to have lunch! They have such a wide selection of sandwiches, but what I love love love is their soups of the day! Lentil, tuscan bean soup, tomato bread, chicken and rice, minestrone — I’ve tried them all and they are all delicious! They always give you a generous amount of freshly baked bread to accompany your soup which I appreciate. The only one I wasn’t much a fan of was porcini mushroom. It lacked the heartiness of all the other soups I’ve had. Definitely stop by to have soup, a sandwich, or oggle at the Italian goodies. The hard fruit candies they have are really tasty too, but quite expensive.

I purchased ravioli there that was past its prime to say the least. Corporate is giving me a refund, which is nice, but I’m not excited to go back after this experience.

Maybe one the few remaining AG’s left now that they’ve gone through some money issues. Same quality products that you get through the other branches, though since this one is on Main st it gets more play. This is my local stash for San Bitter and Chinotto. I hope they stay afloat as they are one of the few Italian deli/goods purveyors in the area.

Great quality food. I love the sandwiches and the olive selection, though most of the items in the prepared foods case don’t look very appealing. Servers are also always friendly and pretty fast. The only downside is the prices, which are extraordinary even for a high end grocer.

I would love to swim in a sea of olive tapenade. Oh delicious olive goodness where have you been all my life? A.G. Ferrari is one of my favorite places to have lunch. The only problem with this place is I always over eat. A sandwich is about $ 10 and is enough for either two meals or two people. Every time I go there for a sandwich, I eat the entire thing. My favorite it a turkey sandwich with tomatoes, olive tapenade, fresh mozzarella, and lettuce. It sounds so simple but the taste and texture is divine. I also love their freshly made soups, items in the refrigerated case and olives. A.G. Ferrari also sells wonderful cakes, sweets, chocolates, cookies, pastas, lasagnas and pastas to go and a wide selection of cheeses. I always come here for the amazing mascarpone cheese when I want to make a tiramisu. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I always have an excellent experience when I visit.

I ate here today for lunch and had a panini — #15 Novara(turkey, provolone, on foccacia). I always love the atmosphere here — a very Italian feel with Italian music playing in the background, you eat around all the yummy grocery items that they have for sale which is very tempting after eating a panini or sampling something from their deli. I like the overall taste of their sandwiches because it something different. The bread especially is of good quality. However the sandwich I got wasn’t all that amazing and the price was not that great for such a small sandwich. I do have to try some other sandwiches, I’m particularly eye-ing on trying some of their cheeses especially the fresh mozerrella. But for now overall I’m giving this place a 3 for good customer service but over priced sandwiches — but something different nonetheless.

I love this store. It has all the Italian specialties that I miss from NJ. Ok, they jack the prices up a bit from what I remember NJ charging(ahem) but I guess maybe that’s because it’s 3,000 miles further from Italy? Almost everything in here is imported but I cannot imagine how a pound of pasta can cost $ 7. They do, however, carry the correct shapes for certain dishes that you cannot find in the regular supermarket. So, for example, if my friend Andrea brings me his dads FAMOUS home made pesto Genovese but doesn’t bring pasta, who am I to not go spend that $ 7 to get the trofie to go along with it? Which is why A.G. Ferrari is so wonderful! Their sandwiches are awesome, their olives are sublime, their cheese is fantastic, their specialty hard to find items are a blessing. Now if they only had the prices to match, I’d give them a full 5 stars! … as a matter of fact, I’ll be going there tonight to get some mortadella and real provolone(that has flavor unlike the one at Safeway!) to have a sandwich for dinner tonight!

I received pasta sauce and pasta here from my cousin, and it was pretty darn good. I then stopped by and sad to see they lost their lease and everything was 40% off. A large selection of imported goods, and some are on the pricey side, so it was nice to pick up some things at a discount. Picked up two bottles of their house white wine, and excited to try.
