Namrita is not only a very professional, courteous, and delightful person to work with, but her outfits are phenomenal! I knew as soon as I saw one of the dresses that it was what I wanted — elegant, one-​of-​a-​kind, and beautiful.
I specifically did not have time to go to India so it was wonderful having the same options (maybe even more) as I would have had I gone to India. I received a tailored, personalized, and customized experience with her — everything from the stitching, colors, and embroidery on my outfit to the fitting was extremely seamless and easy. I received my dress a couple weeks before my wedding and couldn’t stop looking at it. In fact, my sisters and female cousins want to wear it for their weddings! My sister and mom ended up also getting their reception outfits from her.
Working with Namrita was a unique experience — from having my dress sketched, fitted specifically to me, and designed just for me. I would not have gotten this experience had I gone to a regular Indian dress shop.
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’d recommend Namrita to anyone who’s looking for a dress for any occasion, especially if you’re looking for that individualized experience.

It was the first dress I tried on during my bridal gown shopping, and it was the one that stuck with me through the entire process. The whole process was a blast, and Namrita is a designer that will let you know what makes sense in terms of aesthetic. I knew what I wanted, but I needed the professional to let me know what is best.
On the day of the wedding, the dress was elegant and show-​stopping, which is all a bride ever wants. I knew I looked ravishing, as my now-​husband stated. It is a dress that I would feel comfortable wearing again, which is awesome — this bridal gown can actually be worn again. That makes it automatically less expensive than every bridal gown on the market.

Namrits was AMAZING while my fiancé worked with her for a «personalized» wedding gown. We had been to many bridal stores where the sales lady rushed us :(It is not a nice feeling to be rushed to make such a big decision. We never felt this way with Namrita. What a relief! She listened and helped my fiancé come up with our vision of ideal wedding dress — just what was needed for a special occasion. She gave honest opinions and was so patient. I know my fiancé gave her one too many hugs for that! Thank you so much Namrita! :)

Namrita’s outfits are, truly, as good as you can get. My friend introduced me to her when I was shopping for my wedding outfit. The clothes in her boutique are beautiful. The quality is so much finer than you will see in the stores. Her prices are fair, in my opinion. You can definitely get something, that looks nice from a distance, cheaper in the stores, but it will not be of the same quality.
I ended up purchasing an additional blouse from her, because I did not think my custom-​made blouse looked quite right. Even so, the final price was reasonable for two high quality blouses and a beautiful lengha.
One thing that Namrita gives you that no Indian bridal shop can is her personal service. She will make sure your outfit fits, head-​to-​toe. She requested that I bring my intended jewelry, shoes, and tell her how I will wear my hair at my final fitting so that she could make sure everything would look right and be the right length.
Of course, it may have just been for me, since I wore a t-​shirt and jeans to every meeting with her. Maybe she was worried I would disgrace her hard work with sneakers!

Vastra is an East Indian clothing line, designed and run by the fabulous Namrita Chettiar. I was desperately searching for an Indian outfit for my brother’s wedding last month. I didn’t want to wear anything ordinary that can be bought at any store front in Berkeley or South Bay. After much researching, I came upon the Vastra website, and found Namrita.
Namrita is highly skilled at what she does. Her clothing line is breathtakingly beautiful. If you know Indian clothing, you know that you can get a good design, but bad quality of workmanship, or fabric. Everything in the Vastra line is of the highest quality. From the silk fabrics, to the brocades, and the stone work, her clothing is meant to last, not just to be worn for a time or two.
The most important aspect of Vastra is that you can get custom pieces. If you don’t like what Namrita has, you can ask her to help you design an outfit. She will have it custom made to your liking, within a fairly fast turnaround time. She has the clothing hand-​made in India, so it does take a short time to receive. But, once you have it, you will not be disappointed. I had an outfit custom made for me, for my brother’s wedding, and it was beautiful I picked out the colors, fabric, etc, and I was the belle of the ball! I had a lot of ladies asking about it!
The Vastra line is not inexpensive, but you get what you pay for. The pricing of her Indian bridle wear is very competitive with store fronts, but her quality and unique designs are priceless. You can be sure no one else will be wearing what you are. Vastra also does bridle wear for American weddings, for brides that want a little Eastern flair to their dresses.
I wish I could give Namrita more than five stars, but unfortunately, Unilocal only allows five. She has shown me the utmost professionalism, and her timely manner has made me a fan. Not to mention the fabulous clothes… can’t wait to splurge on another outfit soon!
