Started off loving this place. Authentic and trendy fused food with bring your own beer. But in the last 6 months the quality of the mains has dropped. Starters are still to die for but the last three times we have picked things we haven’t enjoyed them. We picked them to like then but have been left disappointed. My friend says it’s because we picked incorrectly, however, my argument is that I pick things because I think I will like them and when I don’t, it is because of the end-product, not the logic that got me there. I want to like this place and I hope I can re-review better later.

I tried it near USC campus! The special was chicken chow mein, basically thick egg noodles, cabbage and chicken! The speciality was its sauce, based on himself, he got the idea from Hong Kong. Usual spicy flavored sauce which had a hood combination with those thick noodles. It can feel your bulk as a big meal!

Food was questionable looking at best. Ordered the popcorn chicken(looked nothing like the pic on the menu), that was either under cooked or had gone bad. When i returned to get my money back… she gave me cash but i later realized she only refunded $ 6 of the $ 12 i paid.

Not good. Horrible experience. It tasted like cheap Chinese food. I do not recommend this truck.

Let me get to it. Is the chicken chow-mein good??? Yes, yes it is. The chicken looks like it belongs to a chicken taco off a mexican truck but overall taste is good. I enjoy the fact that it is really hot. Cons– I asked for beef chow mein and got chicken– therefore make sure you check your order before you leave. MAJORCONMYPLATEWAS $ 13.10 and it came with 2 veggie rolls which were probably the best thing on my dish. Lately the truck has been parked on McClintock and Jefferson right outside USC, and my only suggestion would be to lower the cost, maybe then he would have more customers. I think this plate should be priced at $ 8TOPS!

@AldiRecipes Sort of a nondescript plain white food truck with menus and chalkboards around it. I wasn’t really expecting much here but my quest to keep trying new trucks drives me on. They had a special which I tried, pork belly chow-mein. I had 2 problems with this. One was the«pork belly» itself. It was thick sliced bacon. I guess that technically is pork belly but the way it was cooked didn’t produce that signature crispy texture i normally associate with pork belly. Quite the contrary, it had the texture of wet meat. Taste was just OK. Second problem, a little pricey. At 15.00 for the chow-mein, two egg rolls and, a water, this was too pricey. Should have been about 8 or 9 bucks. It would have rated another star. Sorry guys, if you’re going to try and compete with the big boys, «They were in front of LACMA», you’re going to need to do much better…

$ 5 + tax for popcorn chicken. The portion is ½ the normal size. The pieces are small. There is no flavor. Not worth trying.

takin’ one for the team today… first to review, that i could see. Aldi is outgoing with a sardonic sense of humor. you can find him smoking out back of the truck. ha, classic Taiwanese. the big sign in the window said«Chicken Chow Mein». i asked Aldi what was his BEST dish. he said«Chicken Chow Mein.» i often wonder if i should stop asking that question because i never can tell the motive for pushing one dish or another. is it REALLY the best, or do they just have a ton of it? is it getting old? you just never know. the CHICKENCHOWMEIN was different from what i expected. the NOODLES were not soft and floppy. it was like they went in for a perm and ran out crying. firm and kinky. yeah, not that kinda kinky, ya perv. anyway, they were dressed in sauce but they still felt«dry». the light SAUCE was super-peppery, which took me by surprise. Aldi said it’s Taiwanese-style Chow Mein. ok. the CABBAGE was not overcooked and a fair amount of it. the CHICKEN was fairly good quality, not too fatty. and sliced, not that weird stringy crap. overall, i got used to the quirks of this chow mein and even kinda enjoyed it, but i probably wouldn’t order it again. i like my noodles soft or crunchy, but not in between. there WASN’T ENOUGHCHICKEN for me to call it a good value. at $ 8.50, i would call it over-priced. $ 5 — $ 6 is more like it. may try the TAIWANESE-STYLEPOPCORNCHICKEN next time. we’ll see. happy Unilocaling and here’s to tasting life! :)
