I have always had a hard time spending a lot of money on haircuts. I’ve been going to Supercuts for about 10 years now. It’s cheap, and they do a decent job(or so I thought). I got a haircut today at Trim after passing by last week and was really impressed with the friendliness of the employees and the attention to detail of my stylist. Instead of focusing on customer turnover, Trim is the type of place that wants to make sure you are happy with your do. In fact, my stylist recommended I stray from my usual routine and the result was great. The young lady who cut my hair was very, very sweet and told me about some bars I should check out in Santa Monica. I spent $ 35 with tip, which is only about $ 10 more than I usually spend at Supercuts… with the added bonus of a stylist who can hold a conversation, a TV and a beer. Well worth it.

I was happy with my haircut and no complaints in that department(so gotta give ‘em stars on that). Why am I holding back that last star? I think it’s a little pricey; something about the«Hooters with Scissors» vibe that makes me cringe when it’s time to pay. I love that this place is tailored to guys, but I think it’s almost trying to hard(I’ve been to another men-centric place that didn’t have that ESPN Sport Zone feel, unfortunately they’re not in town). Either way, it beats your girly girly hair place or the dilapidated barber shop, I think I’ll be back some time in the month and a half for another cringe inducing haircut.

Probably the smartest idea ever. Hot girls, free drinks(alcohol optional), a personal tv with remote, and getting a haircut from someone you don’t mind having their boobs on your shoulder. I’m not a typical customer. I don’t really drink and I don’t care about sports. No matter. The gorgeous girl aspect was enough. The service is great too. You can get a nice neck/hand massage and you can even get ‘services’ in the ‘back room’. I don’t know what that entails exactly, but I like to imagine late at night. If Katie weren’t engaged, I’d probably still be going here.

Move over Floyd’s… now there’s something curvier! … I mean meatier… … no, I mean… oh never mind what I mean… My last Floyd’s cut was okay… but the guy didn’t spend a whole lot of time and I ended up with a bunch of partially trimmed hairs that made me look like I had horns… not very cool. It’s happened a few times in the past and I overlooked it… but the whole point is… it’s unreliable. And I’m ready for something new. … enter Major League Trim. A buddy of mine was getting his haircut there the other day and I started asking him about it. He just brought up the website and showed it to me… then said, «Dude… you walk in and they have COLDBEER… AND… check it out! …» click click «THESE are the haircutters!» Oh my… can this be??? I called right away to make an appointment for 6PM the same day. — — — — I walked in at 5:55 with my friend. Sitting at the reception was a guy typing away at the computer. He looked up and smiled — «Hello! Welcome to Major League Trim. Do you have an appointment?» We both gave him our names and he looked us up in the computer. «Okay… you can have a seat, they’ll be with you in a moment. Would you like something to drink? Beer? Soda? Water?» With a bud light in hand I sat down on their extremely comfortable faux leather couch… a tear came out of my eye. About three mintues later, Regina comes up to get me. Each barber station has it’s own TV, with cable, and TiVO. They hand you the remote and let you watch anything you wish… … another tear. I’m in haircutter’s heaven. Regina was so cool… I hardly watched any TV… we had a good time just chatting. But the most important part… she took careful, tedious, time with my hair making sure it was cut correctly… awesome haircut. I really like the place… yeah the girls are really cute… yeah they do serve you beer and the place is really nice. But the haircut is what will keep me coming back… $ 25 + $ 5 tip… not bad at all.
