*Ding-dong* You know that sound. That sound that most, if not all, convenience stores have when you enter the premise. A familiar tone that conveys a welcoming of sorts. To me its akin to ‘Hail to the Chief’ at this liquor store. I usually hit this place up before I head to the Metro Red Line at Vermont & Beverly for some«road soda». It’s quick, it has what I need, its not terribly expensive, and the guys are friendly. The exterior does seem a bit scary but it’s all good. Sometimes there are loiterers already getting their drink on, but they don’t harass you too much. The parking lot is on the tiny side but again, if yer in and out, what does it matter. It seems like this liquor store has been here quite awhile. It boasts to have a deli, but I’ve never seen any of that action going down. I’ll inquire next time I go, so stay tuned. …*like if you wouldn’t have anything better to do… psssch.* They have a decent selection of wine, located towards the rear, it really doesn’t have choice stuff… that is, if yer not a wino. I would prolly go somewhere else for wine, but it does well in a pinch. Like recently, my lady and I were making dinner, and realized we didn’t have enough wine to make it all the way through dinner. So I suggested this spot because it was around the corner AND she wouldn’t have to get all dolled up just because she was headed to Bons or Ralfps. She agreed and went. She ended up picked up a Merlot that had a «graffiti-style» label on it *twist cap*and a half gallon of Carlo Rossi ‘Burgandy’ ?? Really ? She says, «Yeah, the Carlo while we cook and the other when we dine.» Okay. Cracking the Carlo… Me: «Not bad…» *wince* Her: «It’s okay.» *slurrrp* See? In a pinch. Believe me, I LOVE7-Elevens, but this place is nice because it’s convenient. I also love to contribute to small businesses, you know… so, right on. Fight the power !
