2 lanes open, 20 people in line, makes for the slowest check out. Produce is old, no customer service skills, prices are higher than they are at Big name grocery stores. Not worth it. If you want to spend more time in line than you spend shopping and want to get rude service at check-out come here.

Never pay your phone bill here. The regular woman that receives your payment is a rude BITCH.

This is one of those places where you really have to scrutinize everything before you put it into your cart.(a stolen cart from Target, Home Depot, Ross, etc., mind you) If you are making something Mexican like pozole or tamales or if you are having a carne asada just about everything you would need for those things are reasonably well priced and safe here. However, if you are going to go «out of the box» and make something like say a lasagna, or casserole, or something off of pinterest(ahem non mexican) do yourself a favor and drive yourself to a conventional grocery store if you are looking for bargains(Vons, Ralphs, etc.) OR a healthier store if you are more interested in quality(Whole Foods, Gelsons, Sprouts, etc.)

Big Saver? Uh… More like Big Spender! I feel like I should work overtime just to have the extra cash to shop here. None of this ethnic-market bullshit for me. Been raised on latin grocery stores since before I could speak English, so I know true savings when I see them and no, there are none to be had here. A few months back I decided to make a simple chocolate cake. I repeat, simple chocolate cake. I ended up spending more then $ 10 for the ingredients(which included the pre-mixed betty crocker box). That’s twice as much as I would spend at Target for the same items. TARGET! The typical latin items are minimal, surprising for a latino supermarket. I could probably drive down to the border and back, and still spend less than I would here.

God willing, I would never every go back but if I was in a really really really tight pinch, I might rescind that comment. I grew up going to ethic markets and I understand that it’s a no frills and trills deal. I didn’t really care that it look run down, it wasn’t very clean, smell a little like urine but the food that they were selling was old and very questionable. There is a difference been not pretty looking but good produce vs old and questionable. The prices over all weren’t really that cheap either.

I am a fan simply because it’s on my way home from work and that’s a plus in any shape or form. Now don’t expect a Von’s, Ralph’s quality but you get decent variety at fair prices, very small chain store that is decent and clean. I just stopped in to get some cold meats, apples & bananas, I am set. Of you don’t enjoy or like this place then by all means do not let the door hit you on your way out.

Kind of like walking into a market south of the border, but not *too* bad. The produce is cheap, and if you choose wisely you’ll be OK. Their meat counter isn’t bad either, and although the selection of «gabacho» products is just so-so, it beats chains like Von’s when it comes to items like cilantro(5/$ 1 vs. .99÷1), etc. Checkout can get slow, and the music they play can sometimes be super-irritating, but that’s a small price to pay for real savings on a lot of grocery items.

HAILZNO. NEVERAGAIN. My male escort and I were shopping at Home Depot on Fig and needed some produce, so we decided to check out the Big Saver instead of our usual Super King, because it was right down the street. «It’s probably the same shit,» I thought — NAIVELY! Smells like B.O., all carts are broken and stolen from other nearby grocery stores, didn’t have half of the(seasonal!!!) veggies I needed, and the check-out woman was an idiot. It took forever for her to scan the produce because she kept checking the folder with the SKUs. No, she wasn’t new. She just told us that she was«out of it». ??? But then… the worst part– When I cut up the yellow bell pepper for my panzanella salad that evening, I had a little bite. I kid you not, the pepper tasted like rotten corn tortillas with a tinge of Fabuloso floor cleaner. Stay away. Not even sure how they’re still open. Prices are a bit steep on some items.

First when you walk in, it has a stinky smell and its been always the same horrible smell. Its Big Saver, but my wife and I call it BIGSTINKER ! The employees ignore you totally if you are a white person or don’t speak spanish, They really think they are doing you a favor for letting you shop at Big Stinkers; That was it for us, we rather spend more money and go to a decent market, so big deal its cheap, but service and overall not worth going to.

its not the greatest place… but its a great budget place to shop… the prices are reasonable and worth looking at this is your local Latino Supermarket… so dont expect to find anything like you would at trader joes or Gelsons… sure a few things are the same… but not many… there Pre prepped Carne Asada and Chicken is never dissapointing, as long as you let it sit for 30 minutes to proper absorb some of the juice… your good to go…
