I go to the Granada Hills dojo but I’ve been taught here too. The instructors are great and patient and 95% of the instructors are at black belt themselves. And the rare brown belt instructors are really good brown belts anyways. Bryan Hawkins, who is an eight degree black belt, is the owner, and he’s really good. He’s been doing the art for about 35+ years. He explains the techniques well and is very well organized on schedule, and there is a very fun day camp he has biannually or more. Recommended for kids that don’t mind getting yelled at occasionally lol

My kid has been going there for almost three years. The teachers are great; they are caring and highly disciplined. The teachers expect the same compassion and discipline from their students. We are looking forward to many great years to come.

It is a pleasure to be associated with BH Kenpo Karate. My son has become a different child since starting karate here. Bryan Hawkins is much more than just the name on the business. He embodies the entire mission and art of Kenpo and I feel so fortunate to have my son experience him on a weekly basis. He also employs an excellent staff; they are all very dedicated to the dojo and to the students. Because of who runs this dojo, it seems to attract very good adult students, kids and parents. I love this place.

My sons are student of Bryan Hawkins and we are very happy with the experience and staff. The classes for kids are broken up by age and this provides a very focused and age appropriate environment. The combination of mental and physical training in self discipline and self defense has had a positive impact on my kids. All of the instructors are excellent and each bring there own talents to their teachings. Bryan Hawkins teachings of Ed Parker’s American Kenpo is beneficial to kids that already have good focus and those who need to improve disciplinary problems.

Hi son has trained with the studio for 29 years. He has some disabilities and they have done more for him then any physical or occupational therapy we have ever had him in. He is a fourth degree black belt and helps teach classes after many years of the most incredible teachers and patient people and understanding and caring I have ever experienced. I can’t begin to tell you the kindness that he has been shown from 99% of the people that have worked with him over these years. One of his teachers even taught him how to ride a two wheel bicycle which was over and above the call of duty. I could go on and on singing praises but give it a try as I can’t say enough…

I’ve been training here for about 3 years. There is definitely a family environment and everyone is there to make everyone else a better Martial Artist. Fantastic instructors and fantastic fellow students. I am so happy that I chose to train here. I do not have any children, but if I did they would be enrolled here as well.

I’ve been a kenpoka with Bryan Hawkins Kenpo Karate for going on 3 years now. I came to this dojo as a martial arts n00b, with no previous experience. I’m glad to say I made the right choice in a world full of McDojos and fakers. Working with Mr. Hawkins and his extremely dedicated and talented seniors(many upper level black belts teaching classes) has been an extreme pleasure. Mr. Hawkins and his instructors emphasize a realistic and pragmatic approach to kenpo while still being accessible to newcomers and not being overly«hardcore» without purpose, like some schools. The instructors and senior students are always available to help explain and demonstrate techniques or work out, and always do so gladly. The facilities are clean, spacious and well-appointed. Classes are widely available during the day and evening, 7 days a week. The costs are very reasonable without restriction for the number of classes attended. A cost break is available for buying 3, 6, or 12 months of attendance ahead of time. Also unlike many schools, there are no contracts. Both adults and kids are welcome. This is one of the good schools out there. Give it a shot. I’d also like to single out Ms. Lewis, Mr. West, Mr. Selim, Mr. Higgins, Mr. Idle, Mr. Gregan and most especially Mr. Cornejo for being excellent teachers that have given me a lot. Not to say that many others haven’t as well! If Bryan Hawkins Kenpo Karate has anything, it’s many dedicated and skilled instructors.
