Strange and sketchy first impressions, but once you get a hang of the hipster furniture shop interior(that’s also next door to a thrift shop), you start to appreciate it’s originality. The menu is amazin! I’ve never seen such diversity in a higher scale café like this. Everything I ordered was great — from pasta to breakfat burritos. Must get their coffee ice blended!

Just had lunch at Café Midi. Husband had the crab burger and said it was divine. The buttermilk pancakes are fantastic also. Make sure to try their homemade balsamic, it’s amazing! Casual and super friendly, highly recommend!

Hip spot inside American Rag store. Very extensive menu and all very fresh and healthy. I had the Black Forest ham and Swiss chess omelette. No alcohol here. Staff is very friendly. I’ll be back.

I recently went to Café Midi for the first time on a Saturday morning and had a wonderful experience! The indoor café is inviting and cozy, and the food lives up to it. My friend and I split an omelette, which was more than enough for both of us, and I ordered a hot chocolate, which reminded me of the ones I used to get in Paris. Truthfully, this is the best hot chocolate I have had in LA, and I’d like to thank Monsieur Edouard Moyal for making it for me. I will definitely be back and I encourage others to stop by!

Best BANANABREAD in town ! Well I mean I’ve never had a bad dish here but the Banana bread — my goodness. And not to mention, the overall atmosphere is super cute and quaint. A table outside in the sun on the la brea strip is always a good time. The owner is a good guy and there’s amazing shopping connected to the restaurant(American rag) enjoy. I always do.

It’s very cute and the décor is nice. The waitress and the owner? Older guy were being weird, but I’m unaware of their dynamic so whatever. The coffee I had was very good and the swiftness of the service was appreciated. Their menu is massive and is in desperate need of being slimmed down.

Mom came in town and my cousin suggested meeting up here. BESTDECISION! Small cute place. The menu is very large, lots of pages and small font so there’s plenty to choose from. I decided to go with the steak sandwich and ordered a shake. While we were waiting for our food I couldn’t keep my eyes off of everyone else’s food. Everything looked good and smelled good. Once the food came out I was too excited. The steak sandwich was SOOOOGOOD!!! When I was down to an extra small piece the waiter came to pick up my plate and we were basically playing tug of war because I wasn’t finished lol. The servers were great and friendly and made sure that we were happy with everything that we had. The owner came to our table to check on us multiple times and he was great. Loved the experience!

Great food, nice people, an interesting store as well. Full of French decorative objects. Kinda like an Anthropology. Huge salad menu, great coffee. I’m coming back!

Went to Café Midi for lunch again today. We always go there when we are in the area. The menu is very extensive(it is several pages long) so there’s always a lot of things to choose from. Today, I had a Smoked Chicken Sandwich with salad and my friend had a plain Swiss Cheese Omelette with French fries. The plain omelette wasn’t on the menu, but there was no problem in ordering something that wasn’t exactly the same as an item on the menu.

A Rip Off today i ate at this bustling joint… filled with has been actors, loud mouthed would bees and has beens and the anorexic blondes trying to make it… of course there are the blowsy broads too. my Greek salad was not greek it was american with titty bitties of egg, olive, tomatoes and feta lots of romains, little else… a total rip off for what cost maybe $ 2 going for $ 16.99 then their method of payment is totally unconscious… all i have to say… having been a Southern Californian Restaurant Writer for years i do know about food, cuisine and ambiance…

Lovely and bright and tucked away in a corner of Maison Midi(the housewares department of American Rag Cie), this a a great brunch spot. We sat on beautiful blue rattan French chairs and ate Dover sole, basil and tomato pasta and the chicken sandwich. All very good and fresh, but lacked seasoning and flavor. The staff however, was very eager to please. They even made my hot chocolate(using their own blend of melted chocolate) with water instead of milk. It was delicious! Just like a sipping a hot chocolate at Angelina’s in Paris, and better than the hot chocolate at Le Pain Quotidien. While not totally bowled over by the cuisine overall I was impressed by the service. And the hot chocolate, the real star!

Very nice ambience inside, the few tables outside on the street don’t do justice to how cool the inside shop and café are. The menu has lots of options, all of which are very appetizing. The waitresses suggestions are spot on and delicious. Definitely one of the better places in the neighborhood without the pretentious vibe of most its neighboring cafes.

Think of super hip and cool, think American Rag — Café Midi… Nests in all that eclectic home furnishings and hipster style fashion is the French Café Midi, almost like you are in a friend’s home with all that knickknack merchandises that capture your imagination. Fresh food and organic greens, I feel all my sensory are fulfilled after my brunch, a must check out LA not so secrete spot :) Try the Energy Green drink, amazing!

Stopped in from picking up some Gormet shoes and was starved. The owner was there and greeted us to an inside corner table. It’s cool that’s the restaurant is inside of a store, with a full bar. Very pleasant service and the atmosphere is great. I started with the soy chai latte but there is an abundance of goods to get. Latte very frothy. Didn’t taste the soy too much but tea flavor tasted fresh. I ordered the chicken burrito but substituted the havarti for goat cheese. Very good flavors and serving size. Came with a side salad(greens). Enjoyed my time there :)

Sitting at the bar I enjoyed the food. There are several bad reviews which truly define situations that are not acceptable, my experience was quite different. I enjoyed my meal and we were promptly seated at te bar, in fact the owner asked if we were willing to sit at the bar since the wait was going to be a long one. My food was really great, atmosphere was cool, and heck I enjoyed myself.

Think Paris, but not the touristy part. Think French inspired menu with a California twist. Think a restaurant, but also a store. Café Midi is a lot of things and they’re all great! Outside seating right on La Brea let’s you see and bee seen. The indoors area is actually inside of a store selling home décor. It’s more than that, but it’s the simplest way to describe it. Speaking of indoors, they have a dessert display — no menu. Which is smart, since you’ll want to come in and look at all the great tarts that change quite often. Maybe pick up a plate, silverware, or even a pillow for home as long as you’re there? The food is simple, but cooked with love and although I realize that’s not saying much, it’s the best decryption I can give you. Even a simple sandwich is put together meticulously. Friendly staff, super affordable prices, and just plain fun and casual.

This is such an adorable café with a store in front and the sit down café in back. The second the server approached us, my friend specifically asked her to put in his order of french onion soup in advance because he knows it takes a while to make and he wanted it before his entrée came out. She did so and came back 5 – 10 minutes later and asked for our order. About 15 minutes later he had still not received his soup and since there were not a lot of customers, we were concerned that they forgot about the order. My friend reminded her that he wanted to soup out prior to his main entrée and it took another five minutes. The soup was incredible and tasty. The salad was sitting on the counter while he ate his soup. While it was absolutely delicious, it made me worried knowing the shrimp and steak was sitting out until he received and finished his soup. The employees are nice and the café is cute, but for not being busy, I wish they were a bit more attentive to the customer’s request. I don’t think this is a reason not to come back though!
