Biggest scam artists I’ve ever seen. Make sure everyone pays at once or they’re going to say nobody paid. Complete garbage since we had a group of 20 and everyone paid way more then the bill, If it’s card it’s okay but don’t pay cash other wise you will get screwed. Just a warning be careful

2 stars ONLY because they have extended happy hour for soju that goes until 10 pm. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and saw the mexican cook or(we really hope so) dishwasher come out of the bathroom stall and walk straight out without washing his hands after he just took a massive dump. People, he took a dump, wiped his @ss, and walked out to make your food! I realized I ordered a quesadilla prior to knowing this and freakin grossed me out thinking he picked up the mozzarella cheese and spread it around the tortilla using his hands. Only positive thing that came out of this for me was that he made my food prior to using the bathroom to take a s#!t. Good luck people and hope you have good medical insurance!

Reposting from my review of Café 600, since I think they go by both names. THISPLACESUCKSBIGTIME! Horrible service. There are plenty of places with decent service and food in k-town if you are looking to eat/drink. Even if you are with Korean friends, they provide below average service and even by Asian standards(which means lower), it was unacceptable. On a side not, I have a separate issue with their Karaōke bar upstairs, I don’t enjoy smelling cigarette smoke coming in from the private room next to ours, not to mention seeing waves of «escorts» parading through. The staff insisted they deserved a better tip than what they thought we left them(they hadn’t even swiped the credit cards yet, so we didn’t have a chance to fill in the tip line!!!) I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone! Needless to say I WON’T be back to either the Restaurant or the Karaōke bar upstairs.

Came to Choong Mu Ro for an obligatory K-Town night during a recent visit to LA. Having gone to all the usual spots numerous times, we decided to switch it up and try something new. The vibe is a mix of old school pojongmocha and modern bar. You’ll see the typical wooden booths and korean movie posters from the 60s and 70s. At the same time, K-pop is blaring(way too loud) with lasers and modern surrounding décor. Drink selection is standard but with a plethora of beer selection. I think it’s better to just stay with Hite and OB and not stray away for the sake of attracting a wider customer base. Food selection is average as well, but quality is mediocre at best. Spicy kimbap is a disgrace. A few sticks of veggies wrapped in rice and seaweed, about a third the size of regular kimbap. Raman tteokboki came in a huge plate, but we counted no more than 5 pieces of tteokboki. Huge disappointment. The low quality food, strange vibe, emptiness, lack of service, and excruciatingly loud music made us quickly leave Choong Mu Ro. Going to stick to my favorite intersection of W 6th& Kenmore for now…

Everything has changed here… The interior is completely different. There are table dividers that separate the tables. They added a bar along the inside which takes away a lot of usable space for more tables. They have a few different beers on draft now but who the hell comes here for beer anyways… And worst of all, the Happy hours have changed yet again. I would post the new hours if I knew what they were!!! My friends and I, who were regulars here before all the changes, have vowed to never return due to all the inconsistency and changes.

The food is pretty good and happy hour is foreverrrrr(I think until midnight?). Half off food and drinks til midnight? Hell yes! It’s a good place to just sit, catch up, have some soju, and nibble on Korean bar food. It can get sort of loud, but it’s not deafening, so you can still maintain a(pretty loud) conversation. I’d give this place four stars, but the service was sort of crap. Our drinks came out right away, but we had to flag a server down twice to remind them about our food… and I’m pretty sure we only got checked on once or twice in three hours. :(I’d still go back though since it was a nice place to chill for happy hour. Parking was valet(3 bucks), but street parking is available if you’re willing to circle.

I’ve been walking past this place on the way home from work for like almost a year. I always wondered what was inside, with the bumping music and the crowds of drunk people smoking outside. this past winter they had like. tarp coverings for the windows lol, pojangmacha style. one random evening i checked it out with a couple friends and I enjoyed myself. we did beer and soju, as usual. but CMR has a surprisingly extensive beer offering, and we partook in a bit of it. deng I forget what we tried. it was a sweet raspberry beer that came recommended by the bar staff. a little girly but tasty and a nice departure from the usual ob/hite/cass. I mean sometimes, I want a real beer, not beer-water to chase that soju down. the food offerings looked comparably legit, not the usual korean fare. but we had all already eaten so we didn’t get any food. I think CMR is a part of the ktown gentrification that is going on right now, with neighborhood additions like beer belly, biergarten, caffe concerto, emc. theses places are a bit ritzy. CMR is my happy medium. i’ll be back to go norebang or to try the food fsho.

It’s actually half off of just soju after a certain hour. Came here with friends and just had drinks and got complimentary soup and sweet potato chips. Have no complaints really! It was what I expected. Crowded on even a Tuesday night with Koreatown locals.

I’m going to have to add this to the«if I go towards Vermont, I might have to make a few hours stop here» list. That being said, I have a fondness for the Korean type bars and noraebangs. This is one of them. Drinks were on the cheap and service was legit. Yeah, even for a place like this. They left us alone enough and checked on us enough. For me that’s perfect, but I can see how others might have issues with that. Can’t really say any more. I had fun. Maybe too much fun. Also, the noraebang uses Ziller which is my favorite system.(On my noraebang scale, I give this a solid 4 stars. I didn’t have to fetch a tambo because it was already there!)

PLEASEBEWAREOFTHISSHADY@SSPLACE!!! They have dishonest employees who go on spending sprees with your money!!! Yesterday I went to Choong Mu Ro(aka Yi Ga Ju, aka STUPIDSHADYBAR) with a large group of friends to karaōke. Everything was typical of any other bar in Koreatown. I accidentally left my card at the bar, knowingly having paid $ 40 to help with the bill. This was at 2am and the card was handed directly to an employee. I figured I would call the bar and pick it up today. Just in case I checked my bank account this morning and I have noticed an additional $ 150 charge at another location about an hour after I was charged Choong Mu Ro. This could only have been done by a SHADY worker there who treated him/herself at my expense. PLEASEDONOTSUPPORTTHISPLACEUNLESSYOUWANTTHEMTOTAKEYOURMONEYANDSPENDITFREELY, TOO. I do not Unilocal often but I feel compelled to let you know that this is not acceptable.

This place will always be YiGaJu to me. I can’t keep up with the name changes anymore. I came here a few weeks ago for dinner and drinks. I really like the food here. I sense that the name has changed, but the menu and chef remains the same. The place doesn’t necessarily have a great ambiance, but I think it reminds a lot of people of Korea so it works for them. But an issue I’ve always had with this space is how cold it gets inside. Anyways, a good spot to have dinner and drinks. They still have that nook where it can accommodate a larger group and yes, it gets incredibly loud when that spot is filled.

New place with decent food, and currently is happy hour all the time for its grand opening special Been coming here for a month now and they still doing their grand opening special where everything is 50% off. Everything here is pretty above average nothing amazing but being half off, which includes the soju, beer or whatever, it’s a winner. Most of the food comes out pretty quick, and service is good, probably cuz koreans have adopted the best invention in the world, with the door bell on the table. The tables at the place is a little ghetto, and the place is pretty loud, but after some drinks, you can contribute to the loudness. Woohoo! Not sure what is going to happen if they ever go to full price… Just pay more I guess, or move onto the next grand opening place in ktown…

Once Yi Ga Ju and then becoming Kanpai«My friends», Chung Mu Ro is the latest incarnation of the prime real estate adjoining 6th St. and New Hampshire. What you see is what you get: Straight up pojang macha style food with the requisite soju and beer accouterments. Man, I think I am the first person in history to use the words«soju» and«accouterments» in the same sentence. The food is always decent and ironically, because the seating is so shitty and cramped around flimsy metal tables, the people-watching in this joint is actually extraordinarily good. And when it comes to K-town — whatever your niche may be — you gotsta ride it for all its worth.
