This place is located on the second floor of a plaza. The dynamite roll only had four slices of sushi and it came with sautéed onions. It wasn’t very flavorful and the rice pieces tasted sour. Also, the albacore sushi that came from the conveyor belt was not fresh tasting and it was hard. The White Candy roll was less than meh. The service was very slow. It took a while to get all our food and the check. At least the server was friendly.

A hidden gem on a street packed with very public gems. When I’m looking to satisfy my craving for inexpensive sushi and beer, this is my go-to. Their sushi chef is also a customer service pro. When my boyfriend and I were done with our meal, he gave us a pack of gum! Now that’s service.

Daichan Kaiten Sushi is a lot of fun. You can order your sushi off the menu along with some other izakaya foods and drinks, or you can get your sushi kaiten style from the revolving dishes. And Bruce is the best! It’s usually fairly quiet but with a few customers, it’s upstairs and slightly offset from the other Sawtelle restaurant locations. And there’s a parking garage downstairs, which is great because let’s face it, parking in the area can be tough. If you want to go out and eat a whole lot of sushi, this is the place to do it.

I thought this place was pretty good. It was quiet and the four of us had plenty of options to choose from. Most of the sushi was decent and I especially liked the crispy rice with tuna. I may be back when I want a quiet atmosphere with decent food.

This place rocks! My wife and I moved here from Phoenix a few months ago and we immediately were on the hunt for a great sushi place. Granted, we know there are tons of choices here but the fun of the conveyor belt combined with incredible sashimi and rolls makes this place stand out above the rest! The conveyor belt offers small plates of their popular rolls, appetizers, and other dishes. If they don’t have one on the belt that you want, the chef will make it! I love this concept because you can different dishes without committing to an entire entrée serving… and really great if you are new to sushi! We love, love, love this place! The service is fantastic and the food is amazing. Highly recommend it!

My husband and i were in LA for a 13 hour layover and wanted to do some exploring. We don’t have any conveyor sushi places in michigan so we were ecstatic to give this a try. The restaurant was in a nice little plaza area, surrounded by numerous shops and eateries. The atmosphere was nice and the staff the helpful. The sushi rolls were tasty and we were able to try a variety of plates. We greatly enjoyed our 1st conveyor sushi experience here and would love to try more.

I got a little concerned when I saw a sparse amount of sushi plates ma-ma-making their way around the sushi bar on a conveyor belt, but overall this place was fine. Not great, not bad, just fine. I won’t rush back there but I would eat there if others wanted to go.

The other kaiten sushi place nearby was too busy so I headed here just across the street. I went pretty early for dinner(Sunday late afternoon). There were about 10 other patrons. The waitresses were nice although I think understaffed because there was only one the whole time I was there and another waitress didn’t arrive until just as I was leaving so maybe the problem isn’t as bad during main dinner hours. The sushi is pretty decent. I had the salmon, aji, uni, ika — all were solidly good, but nothing spectacular. But I wasn’t looking for that. I wanted a reasonable sushi dinner and I got that. You can get parking validated but I street parked that day.

Ok here is the skinny on this joint. Upstairs of this tropical looking plaza on the corner of sawtelle and olympic. right in the heart of Japantown. good location. With this awesome location you would think nice window views of the busy street down below. ehhh think again. this place closed off its window seating forcing you to either sit infront of there conveyor belt or 1 of the 4 booths which may or maynot have a conveyor option. depends if they turn it on. Because of this forced seating expect to be crammed in to a bar seat rubbing elbows with other patrons all fighting for plates coming down a conveyor belt. With only one thougth on your mind aww man I hope the 20 people if front of me dont grab that fresh plate the chef just put out. not my idea of fun. So not being a fan of the conveyor line system I asked for a booth seating. hmm bad Idea. although the waitress made it clear we can order any item off the menu and it will be made for us. the problem was getting the waitress to wait on her table. I guess thats what you get with a conveyor help your self system, no need to train the staff on the idea of waiting tables. it seriously took 15 mins to get the attention of the waitress just to take your order. she obviously needed more help since there were only 2 of them on a packed saturday night. after a long wait we finally got the attention of the waitress who informed us because they only had one chef working tonight, the five plates we ordered will take a long timee… Let just say my night ended early here… after the escrutiating long wait and one 2 item plate off the dreaded conveyor. I called it quits and moved on. This place can be awesome but you can see they are suffering for business and cutting back on staff to make ends meet, unfortunately that alone will put you out of business. I would suggest this place if you want cheap and have alot of time to wait. also you are a fan of 20 people breathing down on your sushi as it makes it way down the line.

We were hungry. We were drunk from the wine-tasting event downstairs. Morinoya was packed. So we came here. Did it satisfy our hunger? Yep Did it make me a little less drunk? Yep Will I ever choose this over Morinoya? Nope Look, it’s revolving sushi; if you’re expecting some enlightened experience, you were probably drunker than me.

Bruce and Kim were so nice and gave great suggestions for sushi. The bites we took from the conveyer belt were tasty, but the true treasure is trying their suggestions! Such nice sushi chefs. Their reccomendations included the freshest salmon belly I’ve ever tasted, halibut nigiri(Bruce told me the fish was alive 5 hours ago) and this amazing raw oyster in ponzu sauce. Make sure you go there, Bruce and Kim are like kindly sushi Santas ready to give you the best fish. 10⁄10 this is my new go-to sushi destination. EDIT: I made the mistake of parking on the residential streets. Bruce pointed out that there is 2 hour parking garage underground right next to the restaurant. The restaurant is tucked in inside the plaza, it’s up the stairs to the right from the parking garage.

I enjoy coming here when I want a variety of sushi. I love the convenience of the revolving belt. The sushi Chef is extremely nice as well as the staff. It’s never been super crowded the few times I’ve been. The quality of the fish is good. Not Sugarfish but for the money, it’s worth it. The only downfall is that if you don’t finish what’s on your plate they’ll charge extra.

I was quite underwhelmed by this restaurant. I love sushi belt restaurants in Japan, but so far, all the ones in the US have been disappointing. This location was no exception. The flashing signs outside say plates are $ 2…but it’s only certain plates that are $ 2. Most of the good stuff are much more expensive. The fish quality was mediocre. There weren’t that many options rotating on the belt, and it seemed like what was there has been there for a long time. I had to try out this place at least once because it seemed like it had potential, but I don’t think I’ll be returning.

I love this place! If you want a more intimate experience, I suggest going at 6pm when they first open for the evening! You basically have the yourself, so your orders come quickly and you can chat with the extremely polite sushi chef and the waiters are always very pleasant. I have checked out this place and Kula, as far as kaiten goes. Kula has more variety, yes, but the quality is lacking. It seems to focus more on its hipness and fast output of sushi rather than the quality of the rolls. It’s also usually too busy for me! Daichan’s quality outshines Kula. The fish tastes so fresh and delicious! I literally had to spit something out at Kula… often their rolls get lukewarm and it just is nooo good. I’m surprised this place is not poppin’ all the time! Cool atmosphere, friendly-ass staff, and bomb kaiten sushi! Maybe it’s a good thing, a little hidden jem. :) Xoxo

Slow service and not that great sushi. The sushi chef was nice though. However, there was only a few plates of sushi going on conveyor belt, which is really why I wanted to try this place! We ended up just ordering the sushi, which was just okay. I also tried the salmon salad, which was quite pricey for what you get… Meh…
