I’ve been wanting to get my hair dyed for awhile, and over Thanksgiving, I saw my aunt, who she got balayage done, and it turned out really well. She referred me to Hidemi, her stylist for the past few years. Having seen a finished product, I knew I was in good hands. I made an appointment with Hidemi, and upon arrival, I was greeted by the receptionist. Everyone was super welcoming and friendly. The salon was under construction so there were some loud noises, but overall, it wasn’t too bad. Hidemi greeted me and asked what I would like her to do with my hair and gave her a picture of what I was going for. First, she gave me a trim because I had a lot of split ends and the hairdresser who cut my hair previously cut my hair a little unevenly, so Hidemi evened it out. Then, she shampooed and conditioned my hair. I actually really like their shampoo and conditioner because it makes your hair silky smooth and shiny and smells good too! She was super thoughtful and put a small towel over my eyes to prevent water from splashing in my face, and when she was washing the hair around my ears, she was careful and covered my ears to prevent water getting in my ears. Hidemi was super gentle and explained to me at every step what she was doing. Since I have darker hair, Hidemi told me that she had to bleach some parts of my hair first in order to color it, which was fine with me. I have a lot of hair, and it’s thick too, but she was patient with coloring each strand. After the color set in under the heat, she washed and dried my hair again and even curled my hair! I know working with my hair can be tedious and long because I have a lot of hair, but I’m thankful that I came to her because she was so patient and did such a good job! Definitely coming back here again!

Kenta is amazing! Best. Shampoo. Of. My. Life. I came in spur of the moment and I’m so glad that I did! He was very friendly, professional, and I love my cut! I had a long bob that had grown out all funky and needed someone to correct my hair so I could grow it out. Kenta did a great job keeping my length, but getting rid of all my dead ends and styling it. I will definitely be back for cut and possibly color!

Not quite careful work. Water on my face. Perm liquid on my face, and magazine. Not having a good time. People working there now is quite stressful. Love the old Du Japan.

I got my hair straightened here and stylist Kento is really good, so is Naoki who flys to L. A every week! It’s really a pleasant experience. I don’t want to damage my hair to look good as what I did before, so I choose the most expensive one which I need once a year. My hair turns out to be shiny, smooth and healthy after two hours. plus I love the chair for hair washing, very comfortable and it helps to keep your scalp from treatment agent! Highly recommend here!

I love Fumika! She just knows how to cut and style hair. She listens to what I want and delivers it. I like that she doesn’t try to dissuade me from whatever hairstyle strikes my fancy at that point. I know they just recently changed names and got a salon makeover. I believe it’s now called Nana Parenna. Get a rewards card and you’ll be able to get a free haircut after a certain number of dollars spent. Not sure what the amount is exactly, but ask the salon and they will be able to provide you with that info.

I’ve been with Hidemi before I knew about Du Japon. She’s amazing and an so glad she’s been my stylist for the last 3 years. I usually do digital perms but this time decided to try something completely different to give myself an updated look. My girlfriends kept talking about their bayalage colors and styles that I decided to try one myself. The last time I had my hair colored, dyed or even highlighted was college(give or take 10 years ago), so was a little nervous about the outcome. My hair is naturally a lighter tone for an Asian person(think toffee colors). I wanted to keep it close to my natural hair color and blend only 2 shades lighter. Something along the lives of a caramel honey. Hidemi took the time to do a dry cut to give my hair shape and clean up since its been a while and my hair was starting to look unruly. She patiently took the time to select the colors, mix, apply and triple check. She even explained every step to me even though I already knew I was in good hands. After 3 hours… Here’s the result from the side and back. I didn’t get to take a before picture, but the dark tones on the top of my head is pretty much my original color. Thank you Hidemi!

I got hair cut and stylist is Ken-ta. He is the best stylist I ever had in LA so far. I really like his Japanese style and cut my layer really neat :) Price is average .70 before tax for s girls long hair cut. I tried at other salon with lower price but it’s just different from Kenya done on my hair.

Hidemi is an amazing hair stylist! She pays such close attention to what you want done to your hair and always delivers the best cut! She is a skilled craftswoman of her trade, cutting each strand of hair with precision and confidence. Most of all, I have been impressed with her consistency – I have never thought after one of my many hair cuts, that she had an off day. Her hair washing technique is also great. Highly recommend! Parking is easy and lots of great lunch places for after ur haircut and ur looking fabulous!

Sadly, I’ll never come again. I had my haircut on Saturday — well, the staff and stylist were nice and friendly, but I have the worse haircut ever. It’s just too short and totally different from what my stylist and me discussed and agreed. He said it might take 3 – 4 weeks for my hair to grow longer… Actually, I may say 3 months. I really regret I did the haircut here.

Hidemi did my hair straightening and I absolutely love it! Even with the huge bill I paid I still think it’s worth it. The reason I gave four stars is after the straightening I got a really bad headache and skin irritation, I wonder if it’s because the chemical they are using on my hair, I’m very sensitive and I’m very allergic towards chemical products, so maybe that’s only me having this problem.

With my hairstylist out of town on a movie and a huge corporate party tonight I had little options. And seriously, I can’t believe it but the reviews for this place are true. Takuji is a master at his job I’m black with straightened hair. Do you have any idea how hard it is to cut that for people that aren’t used to african American texture? What. A. Bauce. I happily paid him double what he asked.

I am writing this review on behalf of my mom, for stylist Hidemi. So my mom has wild, color damaged, fried like chicken, thick Japanese hair. similar to those stainless steel wired sponges you use to clean the stove you know? No offense mom. Anyway, she booked an appointment with Hidemi for a haircut and Japanese hair straightening and now her hair is silky smooth, pin-straight, and even SHINES! Haircut looks awesome — very subtle layers to give her hair movement and style ;) The straightening process took 3 hours total, but lasts 6 months+ and her hair no longer needs blow-drying, straightening, or taming. It literally air-dries completely straight. Needless to say my mom is extremely happy with the results, and I am very impressed! Hidemi was wonderful — she was very accommodating, as well as professional and attentive throughout the whole process. We both highly recommend her. Oh and they have a free parking lot in front of the salon — suhweeet. A picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll shut up now and post a pic.

I couldn’t stand my hair anymore and spontaneously made an appointment with whoever would take me. After my appointment had been moved around a few times due to unforeseen circumstances I finally came in last night. I am really reluctant to get a haircut and I don’t often go because of bad experiences in the past. I have been the one cutting it myself and it doesn’t look the best. Takuji was the one who got the task of cutting my hair. He listened to my concerns and told me what would work for my hair and what will not. He also taught me how to care for it as well. He took his time and is also a wonderful conversationalist. Which made the whole process go by fast. Since I don’t get my haircut often I’m not good with etiquette when it comes to giving a tip and all. I realized he really deserved a lot more and I will make sure of that next time. He did such a great job that I really wish I had done this sooner. Takuji is wonderful and an artist too. I can’t thank you enough, totally worth it!!!

Eh not for me. I have short hair and it doesn’t require a lot. The cut prices are $ 55 – 70. They still charged me $ 70. The cut was fine, but I wouldn’t go back again with those prices. Same cut as a cheaper place. Maybe if u need a crazy cut, it would be worth it. Not worth it for me. Too bad bc I live so close.

I came into the salon with horribly brassy, red hair and a hack job of a haircut from a different salon. Hidemi listened to every concern of mine and then spent 15 minutes letting me know different options we had to correct the cut and get a new color. We decided on highlights, darker brown base, and a cut that thinned out the ends. I’ll admit I was worried and skeptical since I’ve never liked the chunky look of highlights but this is my FAVORITEHAIRCOLOREVER. The brown is perfect and the highlights are honey colored and blended so that they look like natural sun kissed pieces vs chunks of light color. Hidemi is just perfect and the whole staff is just lovely. I can’t remember the last time I actually, genuinely, 100% loved my hair after a visit to the salon :)

I’ve been coming here for almost ten years. Toshie is great and very friendly. She always has good suggestions and my hair looks amazing every time I leave. I also appreciate that the cuts are done well and last for many months without growing out shaggy or ragged.

I’ve been coming here to get my hair cut for a few years now. I’ve had a few different hairstylists but Yukari has cut and colored my hair lately and I love her. She is friendly and talks enough but not too much. She is only at this location on Sundays so I always schedule my appointments on that day now. All other days she’s at the Little Tokyo location. I have thick, very straight hair that can be very heavy and grows fast. No matter who cuts my hair here, I know they will do a great job of cutting layers underneath so it lightens up my hair so it is not heavy, but still looks full but not choppy. This is something that most non-Asian salons get wrong and I’ve had other hair dressers butcher my hair cut for that reason. I will not get my hair cut anywhere except Du Japon these days! I have long hair and it’s $ 60 + tip for a hair cut. I have gotten light brown highlights here once and they did a good job. It cost $ 90 + tip.

We took our son for his first haircut. He’s 2 years and 5 months old. He has long and curly hair, and strangers would often refer to him as a «she». Noriko-san did a wonderful job on him and he looks much more masculine now. Thank you Noriko-san! Wish I could implant some of his hair on my scalp. LOL, it’s getting thin up there.
