This soul food restaurant is the best on the west coast. The food is always fresh and hot. The service is phenomenal. My favorite is the smothered pork chop and Gravy with dressing, mac & cheese, and Cabbage. But everything is so good it’s hard to choose what to eat.

This place is the bomb! I come about once a month for the sunday dinner for $ 18 bucks with CHOICE of fried fish, chicken, turkey legs, Meat Loaf just to name a few. The Mac and cheese is good, greens great, yams good and mash potatoes are on point! You get ALOT of food for the price. Sunday can be packed due to people coming from church. Its’ good food and the people who run this place are some of the nicest people around! When i think soul food i go to Dulan’s!

My boyfriend treated another couple and I to take out from Dulan’s. Our friend had recently posted a review and personally spoke highly of the food. It’s located less than 5 minutes away, so we were happy about not having to go far. The service was great and we were in and out. I ordered the fried fish lunch plate and had greens and Mac & cheese for the sides. Every bite was delicious and I tried hard to save some for later. Funny thing is we came back today for the fried chicken lol. If you are in the mood for delicious soul food, definitely stop by.

The food was super good! They give very large portions so you can have some now and later. I got full off of like 5 bites of the cheesy yummy mac n cheese, tender with a bunch of flavor chicken and their perfect yams. They also have very great customer service, the line was kind of long so they lady there started passing out drinks. I’m totally telling all my friends about this!

I rediscovered very recently. Where is the service? Cafeteria style. The food is average tasting and the staff friendliness is in question. Runs out of food often. Would be nice to offer some alternative so do not have to wait for biscuits… really biscuits take 20 minutes to make!

Ayyyyeee… real talk, this is the best soul food I’ve had since coming back from Atlanta 7 years ago. When you come here, come hungry. This is no foo foo restaurant that serves food that looks like a an art project that can fit in an easter egg shell. There are a lot of sides to choose from and they all taste good. I took heed to the suggestion of staying away from the macaroni n cheese as this was my first visit and wanted to taste the best of what there was to offer. I had the fried fish dinner with greens, red beans and rice and dressing. I wasn’t a big fan of the dressing but I really think this was just not the best side to pair with the meal(revision* I just must not have been that hungry last night, cuz these leftovers are firing on all cylinders. And this cornbread… come on) The service was exceptional and the inside was very well kept. The size of the restaurant is a bit misleading. I would be interested in seeing the rest of the restaurant on another visit… yes, there will definitely be another visit.

Came here to try their soul food and I’m obsessed. Everything had so much flavor I had the fried chicken with Mac and cheese and collard greens so good! And their corn bread is everything. I’ll be back!

Great food, clean restaurant and bathrooms, decent menu and pricing, I’m highly recommending this place. Not as «homey» as the Wilkes House in Savannah, GA but a nice place. The sweet tea was a bit too sweet. You might want to cut back a bit on the sugar.

It think Dulan’s serves average tasting soul food. I came in on XMAS eve and ordered a dinner plate. I had baked chicken, greens, mac n’ cheese, and black eyed peas. For the most part, my plate wasn’t bad… but definitely nothing to write home to mom about. And the mac n’ cheese contained too much processed cheese… I like that real sh*t. They did offer me a sample of their peach cobbler and I must say it tasted better than my whole meal. Dulan’s may have the bigger name, but there are better soul food spots in L.A. However, if you’re a non-Black who’s looking for an introduction to soul food, this is a great start. I can’t depart without giving props to their staff. they are extremely courteous/professional.

Good food, Great service! The smothered chicken was delicious and so were the yams and the corn. Oh and the cornbread was good too, buttery with a hit of sweet! The only thing that I would pass on next time will be the Mac n cheese, definitely my least favorite.

Eat here! Nuff said. When you’re feeling like soul food but don’t feel like cooking or don’t know where to begin this is definitely the spot. The food here reminds me of my G mom’s house. Delicious and has that down-home feel. When my friends from out of town visit and they think LA doesn’t serve good soulfood I know it’s time to take a trip to Dulans and prove them oh so wrong! Yum yum and the Mac n Cheese is superb! Another favorite of mine is definitely the dressing I usually only get to eat it certain times of the year during the holidays so to be able to go get some good home made cornbread dressing anytime is the best! Portions are huge and satisfying I always have leftovers. Don’t walk run down to Soul Food kitchen!

The best soul food spot I’ve been to so far. Great service! Great food! I had the Smothered short rib dinner with rice and gravy, sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and dressing. They give you large portions of food which can last you all day and the next. My only complaint is the sweet potatoes seemed to be rushed. They were a bit hard as if they could have cooked for 30 more minutes. They were definitely still edible. The plate also comes with two cornbread muffins which has a bit of sugar in it just how I like it! Cost $ 21.00 including my drink.

It was a cold night and I was supposed to feed a family member dinner so we headed to Dulans for take out. We received a ton of food so, the value to volume barometer is very very high. Great: the meatloaf, the fried chicken, the green beans, the corn bread, the sweet potatoes. Okay: the sweet potato pie, the dressing and gravy, the mashed potatoes. Never again: the macaroni and cheese. Seriously don’t eat that.

**FRIEDCHICKENANDCANDIEDYAMS** I can’t believe I forgot to review this place. It’s one of my most memorable soul food experiences in LA. PARKING ======== It has its own lot. AMBIANCE ========= Sit-down fast food ambiance. Casual, friendly, and plenty of people watching, especially on Sunday after church. FOOD ===== (LUNCHENTREES comes with 2 sides and cornbread muffins) FRIEDCHICKENWITHCORNANDOKRAANDCANDIEDYAMS — $ 8.99 All of these things were delicious in my mouth. The yams was buttery but damn good. The corn and okra was nicely flavored; not too salty. Fried chicken were perfectly spiced and fried. Moist and crunchy skin. RATING: 5⁄5 I had a bite of the OXTAIL and rice and it was sooo good. Meat falling off bones good. RATING: 5⁄5 Also tried the MACANDCHEESE and the COLLARDGREENS, too. Mac and cheese had the right amount of cheese. Big pasta-shaped. Collard greens is always good here. Can eat piles of these. RATING: 5⁄5 DESSERT ======== PEACHCOBBLER — $ 4 Hot and sweet. Just how I like it(talking about the dessert here). RATING: 4⁄5 I’ve been to their other location, too. Staff is friendly and they try to get everyone’s orders in as quickly as possible. Lines can get long, but they can go fast. PROTIPS ======== Order ahead and call it in. They cater, too. HIGHLYRECOMMEND since it’s my to-go place for soul food.

I’ve been wanting to try the food here for sometime, but just hadn’t gotten around to it. Finally stopped by this evening and grabbed some baked chicken, rice and gravy, greens, mac n cheese and yams. They give you a lot of food — enough for two people. I didn’t even put a dent in it and everything is delicious! Don’t know what I was thinking because I should have picked up an extra order of cornbread muffins. So loving those. Will definitely go back to try out other items.

Lawd tuh’day… So just a few days ago I had the pleasure of spending the day w/my favorite(male) cousin alongside his hilarious wife as both visited LA from Buffalo. While they were enthralled and if anything captivated by the 90 degree California weather that we’re enjoying mid-March, all the while they’re buried beneath an inundation of snow out their way, I attempted to provide them a «tour of LA». Amid this tour was to include Manhattan Beach alongside Playa and Marina del Rey. Then I figured we’d work our way Downtown so that they could see the not so glamorous Skid Row and we’d make our way past LA Live to WeHo, Beverly Hills and back up to Westwood Village and Santa Monica. Things were copacetic as we stopped in Hyde Park to visit family. After damned near 2 hours(not deliberate) there, I felt a rumble in the jungle and I knew that if we didn’t stop for food soon, they’d both see a completely different side of their cousin! As I was out of Snicker bars and I’m the first to attest that I can get a million times worse than the commercials! Evidently my Afrocentric cousin whom we were visiting, overheard my stomach and ejaculated the suggestion we visit Dulan’s directly around the corner. Having been in LA for a number of years now I can honestly say I’d never heard of it(no judgement) and noting the facial expressions of my visiting company when soul food in Los Angeles was listed as an option, I knew that this place was a must!!! Admittedly, while I’d intended on us all dining on Sunset or Santa Monica somewhere, they seemed to have had their hearts set on greens, ham hocks and yams and well…, who am I to disappoint company? We pulled up to Dulan’s and there was an abundance of street parking; we were greeted by the home reminiscent aroma of «Mississippi» upon entry. Ordering food is similar to that of a buffet style establishment yet the food is prepared similar to that of a cafeteria… just by someone w/a lackluster disposition towards customer service and extremely heavy serving hand — lol. I ordered the smothered pork chops with mashed potatoes and gravy, a side of mac and cheese and while I requested the corn bread dressing I received some type of mixed corn dish that I dare not send back for fear of being banned forever. My accomplices ordered ox tails and the other ordered fried chicken with a few sides. Need I say, this food did NOTTTT disappoint. My only comparison within LA would be Caroline’s in Watts and I’d say that this place is indeed comparable. The food, while not necessarily monumental, was served in abundance w/a cornbread muffin of some sort on the side and fully served its purpose for the most part. There were PLENTY leftovers that I took home and well… the next day I suppose they’d evaporated because they were certainly nowhere to be found! Bunch of hungry baz’terds!!! I’d definitely return at some point although it’d have to be later on this year if not some time next. It’s going to take me all summer to work that mac and cheese off and those ox tails were no joke!!!

One of my favorite meals is fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese and rolls. So, when I found myself at Dulan’s for a lunch meeting, that’s what I intended to get. But, when I went up to the line, the oxtails looked amazing. After I asked the lady behind the counter for her recommendation for my entrée, she was kind enough to offer to let me try the oxtails. They were even better than they looked. I got the oxtails over rice, greens, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread. Those oxtails were absolutely delicious. They were tender, falling off the bone, flavorful, and juicy. The collard greens were just as good and they had a little spice to them too. Unfortunately, the macaroni and cheese had a strange look and an odd taste. I can’t believe that I hadn’t read the Unilocal reviews about this place because multiple people mentioned that the macaroni and cheese is not on point. And it wasn’t. That was very disappointing. What was on point however, was the service. Everyone was very friendly and they heaped the food in the take-out container so high that they had difficulty closing it. You’ll definitely get your money’s worth here and another meal or two for later!
