The best thing about this place is that it’s open very late… if your in the mood for all you can eat meat! It really reminds me of when I was in Korea, eating Galbi on the street on top of «trash cans«filled with charcoal. This place looks more like a garage than a restaurant. All the seats are small stools surrounding a circular«table can» over the grill. The décor is plain cement walls with posters and dim lights. The meat is not bad, they do use real charcoal, and they do have seafood. Got the after 10pm special… basically a few dollars off. I think it was $ 16.99 for basically everything on the menu. I never get out of any of these places without spending at least $ 70 for 2 ! No matter what special they have or not its the evil soju(just one more) thats gets you in the end!

This is solely based on serving experience, as well as menu change. The owner has changed and so has the name to Goginara(eng: Meat World) as of sometime last week 4÷14÷2014 or around there. Anyway, they’ve put all the good stuff like Shrimp, Sochong Galbi(marinated galbi), Deung Sim(Sirloin steak) to the higher price package of 24.99, excluding it from the regular ol’ 17.99 price. They do offer a 9.99 one too now which includes the very basic Cha-dol and not much else(at least what I care for anyway). Meat quality is good, and I really enjoyed their Sam gyup sal(pork belly) this past Sunday. That would’ve left me rating it a 3-star. I did have to dock a star for the raise in price on quality by price mentality. What took it down to 2-star was the scrambled, unorganized service. I don’t know if they let go of everyone who used to work there, because ALL of the employees were very slow, very forgetful, and inexperienced. Some guys sweated over changing the pans, we had to ask on average of 3 – 4 times to get anything brought over. Given that it’s a AYCE place, it was quite irritating to have to remind them what we ordered every time. Hopefully the servers will get their act together. Don’t get me wrong – meat quality is still good – I’ll just be better prepared for the poorer service next time and hopefully it won’t knock down my eating experience so much.

DGM was a decent KBBQ restaurant in Koreatown. The food was good for an AYCE-style menu, but I didn’t like the restaurant’s atmosphere and cleanliness. My first impression: I must be barbequing in an alleyway or garage. Somewhere between dark and drab, and trendy, chill underground vibe. The tables were oddly round, and with a group of 8, the staff just pushed two round tables together. We sat around the table on small stools. Is this what it’s like in Seoul at an outdoor KBBQ? A little dirty. A bit grimy and greasy. Unfortunately, we didn’t get along with the grills. The grills had to stay at a slight angle to allow oxygen to flow to the gas fire. As we were cooking food, we accidentally knocked the grills several times to a flat position over the fire, resulting in the fire to go out. The staff had to come over each time to relight the fire. Doh! It was frustrating and worrisome. It didn’t help we were drinking soju and beer all the while… As for the food, it was hit or miss. We liked the thinly sliced beef brisket, beef tongue, marinated bone-in kalbi ribs(tender!), and the bulgogi(yummy sweet marinade). We didn’t care for the thinly sliced pork belly(too fatty) and some kind of boneless beef(way too chewy). Customer service was good. We came on a Monday and it wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated right away and they easily accommodated our group of 8. Staff changed the grills often and we got everything we asked for in a timely manner during dinner service. Parking was easy. $ 2 valet parking or street parking. Price: all-you-can-eat menu«A» for $ 19.99 per person. 3.5 stars.

If you walk into any korean bbq restaurants, and you dont see koreans? Please walk out of that place and find a better one. If you go to this place, you will see many many koreans because we know how korean bbq tastes like ;) I went to many different korean ayce restaurants, and with everything(price, service, and quality of meats), this place is my favorite one so far. Reasonable price. 19.99 and 16.99(two options). Good marinated/unmarinated meats, casual atmosphere(possibly weird to nonkoreans, but it is just casual to korean ppl). Obviously if you want better meats, you can find better places that i know, but the price will be way more expensive or they are not ayce. Well. What do you expect? Services. This is something we need to think. When they are busy, they give you less attention, but when they are kinda busy or so, they are very attentive and sweet. I am only giving them four stars because i dont like their chairs(you cant seat more than an hour because your back hurts after an hour– maybe it could be their business strategy lol) If you wanna try a good korean bbq ayce, i recommend this place to anyone who wanna try. You wont feel you wasted your money. Go TRY!

Would you like some protein in your water?(pic posted under the«Tips» section) Dined on 3÷10÷14 and found a DEADCOCKROACH floating in the water pitcher that we were all drinking out of! We didn’t noticed until we emptied the water into the cup, Barf! My friend was about to down that sucker too! Phew! We told the server and she notified the manager who apologized and said the cockroach crawled in from the OUTSIDE and into the pitcher, Hmmmmm… Yeah OK! He «handled» the issue by comping us 6 sodas… We brought ice cream for my friend’s bday and asked them to place it in the freezer but somehow it ended up in the fridge! Really? Good thing my friend checked again to make sure it was in the freezer. Possible language barrier? **CHECKTHISOUT: I told my friend who frequents this establishment quite often about the cockroach and he said he would call them. He called and the manager told him he «fixed» the issue by giving us free baskin robbins ice cream. OMFG, What a liar, we brought the ice cream! WTF!!! Unbelievable! The people who run this place is SHADYAS F! The vibe and ambiance is very different than the typical AYCE restaurants. You’ll feel like you’re eating in the streets of Korea.(Ooh, hence the roach in the water). Don’t come expecting cleanliness or comfort. The red stools are extremely uncomfortable! My butt was aching afterwards. I heard they have black stools that don’t hurt as much. Ladies, leave your big purses at home. Tip: Bring a wristlet or keep $$$ in your pockets. There’s no room to put them unless you find a stool to set it on. The tables are quite small and there’s hardly any space. We had to use the table next to us to set our food, water, sides, etc. We had a party of 6 and it was cramped. Tip: Come with a small group or split up. Get there before 7pm for HH and receive $ 2 off the AYCE menu(regularly $ 17.99 and $ 19.99). The quality of the meats are pretty good. Faves include: brisket, sirloin(1 per 2 ppl) and short rib(1 per 2 ppl). I wasn’t a fan of the beef bulgogi. It was WAYTOOSWEET! The sides were lacking. The potato salad was the fave of the night. The kimchi was SOUR! Service was ok. Get there before the rush or you’ll have to press the service button 5+ times before someone attends to you. Parking: Valet($ 2) or street. **if it wasn’t for the«special water», this place would’ve been a 3.5 but the extra protein really grossed us out. We pretty much stopped eating after that… Check please!

I’ve been here a total of 3 times now. My old high school friend, Joyce, introduced me to this Korean bbq place and I have been craving it ever since. The exterior is a little ghetto. There are very grungy shops that dot the block DGM is on. The interior matches it’s location in that it is modeled after an alleyway. I think another Unilocaler mentioned that the restaurant’s name means«alleyway» or «the back alley» in Korean. If you can confirm, send me a note so I know for sure! :P there are concrete-like walls with graffiti(read customer doodles) on them, low-standing dented metal tables, and dented metal stools to sit on. People smoke freely inside. It reminds me of the street bars in South East Asia. If you’re expecting the typical Korean BBQ restaurant interior with sleek, modern fixtures, this isn’t the place for you. Some may not like the interior, but I think it makes for a really fun environment. As such, this place caters to a younger demographic than other Korean BBQ restaurants. The service here is great. However, you do have to be a little loud or noticeable to flag down a waiter, or just push the call button. I normally shy away from pushing the call buttons because I feel like I’m calling a dog or something, and I don’t want to treat any person like that, but I think the call buttons are so necessary at DGM because it is so loud inside. Once you push them, you’re greeted with a yell of acknowledgement and you soon have meat in your face ready to devour. The staff is usually very attentive, but be nice to them for even more attention… which i definitely wouldn’t mind from the cute male waiter Alex ;P Another Unilocaler mentioned that the wait staff takes shots with the customers. So, my friends and I decided to test this out. Sure enough, the waiter took a shoot with us then went over to another table and took a shot with another group. How they are still able to do their job, I don’t know, but it does make the dining experience a lot more fun when you can share your enjoyment with the waiters! There are a few menu options. For the All you Can Eat(AYCE) options, there is an A tier($ 19.99 but $ 17.99 during happy hour) and a B tier($ 16.99 but $ 14.99 during happy hour). The only difference between them that I saw was that the A menu offers Sirloin steak(limit 1 order per 2 people), marinated short ribs [galbi] on the bone(limit 1 order per 2 people), and spicy rice cake & short rib stew [galbi jim]. At least those are the only differences I care about – I think there is a difference between what sea eel is offered but I don’t even like thinking about those menu items haha. There are also meat combo options that pair fixed amounts of meat with alcohol, but I don’t remember too much about those. I took pictures of the menu, so feel free to reference those. :] I would really recommend coming during the happy hour times, before 7:00pm and after 10:00pm-2:00am. The meat prices are cheaper and beer is only about $ 5 – 6 as opposed to $ 7 – 8 during non-happy hours. The meat here is really good for the price. The marinated galbi(that only comes with the A menu) is tender and its marinade is so good. I’d only order that if they didn’t put a limit on how much you could order of it. The sirloin is decent, although it is a little tougher than I’d expect. The«beef meat between ribs» is really tender and tasty – it’s offered on both AYCE menu options. The cahdol here is marbled very well and so delicious. One of my friends kept ordering chadol and even though it was delicious, I wanted her to stop so I could order other meats since we were splurging on the A menu. You can also choose to grill meat on charcoal, which adds such a nice smokey flavor to the meat, but clings even harder to your clothes. Whatever, I wear my eau de KBBQ with pride haha. The galbi and spicy rice cake stew is alright. The meat is super tender and falls of the bone, the rice cakes are soft, but the spicy sauce us average and a little one note. I would definitely recommend getting the cold radish noodles. It acts as a pallet cleanser in between meat orders. Unfortunately, the last time we came, they took forever to get us the noodles. We had already finished our meal, but we wanted the noodles so bad, that we waited until we got them before we left haha. Very refreshing. The beer was average but I really enjoyed the blackberry(or raspberry?) flavored wine they serve here. It was the 1st time I had it and it was so sweet and tasty that the buzz creeped up on me. Dangerous, but a delicious kind of danger ;P. They serve you soup at the end of the meal. The kimchi stew was average. The bean paste soup was different but again, average. They also serve you the brown rice porridge at the end of the meal. I usually don’t care for it because it’s so flavorless, but apparently Koreans love it(according to my Korean friends). Overall, this place gives you a lot of bang, fun bang, for your buck. I highly recommend!

I’m gonna let the racist cat out of the bag on this place: DON’T BOTHERGOINGUNLESSYOUCANPASSFORKOREAN. I used to love this place, but last night fixed that delusion. This place is exercising some f-ed up racist bull to systematically weed out non-Korean customers. I, myself, am Korean and am embarrassed by this. I was there with two peeps, one is Asian and passes for Korean. The other is Caucasian. Immediately, I sensed the vibe wasn’t right– the usual warm greeting and hurried ushering to our tables were totally absent. While other parties that were all Korean were getting ushered in, we were asked to wait since there were no tables for us. At this point, I shrugged off the weird treatment as just bad service. Once we were seated there was practically no service; our table was completely ignored. We probably should have just left, but I didn’t want bad service to ruin an otherwise fun night out. I should have followed my instinct. Later on that evening, while waiting for the restroom, I commented to one of the wait staff that it’s interesting that there were no white people. His response, I kid you not, was: ‘we like to keep our environment pure’ That confirmed the racist bullshit I had experienced. We left after finishing the two beers and a soju that were ordered. This morning I learned that those racist jerks ripped off my friends and charged more than double for a bill that should have been no more than $ 20. DGM ought to be ashamed of themselves. It’s just unacceptable and truly disgusting behavior.

You’re definitely not dining here for the cleanliness and the comfort of sitting on that small red stool. The main reason I come here is because you can do almost anything you want and nobody really cares. I have to admit, I know the manager in the back who cuts the meat and a few waiters from the old days(Kimmy, Jae). But, if you remember the time when Sunkoo and Jinwoo worked here, then you get nostalgic just thinking about the past. I visited recently and the vibe was still the same. A lot of people say that the service is slow and that the venue is not in the best condition, but you gotta stay positive. It’s so grungy and low key, I’ve come here in my sweats and sandals, like I just stepped out of bed. You spill water? You drop your chopstick? NOPROBLEM. I usually just walk to the kitchen and get myself a new one. I think this is THE best place to take your non-Korean friends that don’t give a shit about anything. Vape or smoke cigarettes inside? YUP. I know some customers despise the odor, but this place isn’t called the«back alley» for a reason. Get to know the staff and take care of them, like they take care of you. They are super friendly and easy going, so there’s not much work involved. If you do so, the grill will be replaced that much quicker, the bells will be answered with more urgency, and service bottles WILL happen. When I’m here, I feed them and pour shots for them, like they’re dining with me. How awesome is that? And no one is any wiser. DGMMENU * AYCE A — $ 19.99(Happy Hour: 4:30pm to 7pm, 10pm to 2am — $ 17.99) * AYCE B — $ 16.99(Happy Hour: 4:30pm to 7pm, 10pm to 2am — $ 14.99) * During Happy Hour — Chamisul Soju, Chum Churum, and Kooksoondang Makgeolli is $ 6.99 each. Hite, Cass, and OB beer is $ 4.99 each. * Only a few select cuts of meat separate AYCE A and B. AYCE A also comes with unlimited Spicy Braised Pork and Dong Chi Mi Gook Soo. Check out the quality of the non marinated Kalbi and marinated Kalbi. * Both AYCE options comes with pancake, steamed egg, nurungji, hot pepper or bean paste soup, rice paper, and radish. The usual condiments are all available. UnilocalME, UnilocalYOU — Use the valet service for $ 2 on S Berendo St. I’ve been using them for the last 3 years and I’ve never had any issues. Try street parking, if you want to deal with the headache of finding a space. — If you ask nicely, they’ll give you some Super Mario leafs to wrap with your meat. It’s the green sesame leaf(perilla leaf) that makes you fly. — They will cook Shin Ramen for you on the grill. Don’t forget the egg. Combined with the Bean Paste Soup and Nurungji Rice, it’s quite a combo.

I have never been to this place before. My coworkers and I wanted to eat KBBQ and elided to come here since they have ben to this place before. We came in about 11:30 pm on a sat night and it was dead. I would say that about 7 tables were full. As I walked in the place was dirty. They could at least sweep the floors, but it looked like it has not been swept since it opened. THe most thing about the place was the stools. It was very uncomfortable. The service was not bad. Since it was slow, we just rang the bell and the waiters would come by quickly to serve us food quickly and also got our check quickly too. The food was decent. I been to other pacs were the food was better then this place. The price was about the same as other places I been too. Overall, my experience here wasn’t that great so I don’t think I would come back.

Service is meh here. And it seems like every time the bell rings they yell and you think someone is at the door or something. I wish I understood Korean, so at least I wouldn’t be all startled every time they yell. :P They kept ignoring us after a while — cuz I KNOW they can see the table number that pressed the bell! Also, when we kept asking for rice paper — wouldn’t it be better that they gave us a bunch instead of bringing us a few plates(stack them together?) or just give us a bunch. SIGH. there are a few places that do that. Price wise, it’s comparable to the ones in the area — we got the full menu $ 19.99, plus some beers, no soju hehe. :) Tables are hella small and oddly shaped — round, but it’s good since everyone can put their hand in and cook. However, with the weird shape, you don’t have much room to put things on the table — such as your uncooked raw meat. What we ate… Sirloin steak was deliciouso! It came unseasoned, but accompanied by sea salt that you sprinkle onto the steak before you grill. Mmm. That was the winner of the meats!!! Get the galbi, brisket, and whatever is part of your staples at KBBQ. Spicy pork belly was yummy. Meh on pork bogogi Green onion pancake is yummy. The steamed egg was a bit underseasoned, but really smooth and went well with the food we had. Mmmm. HAPPYBIRTHDAY Michelle Y! Always great to see Yenny D, Rhumz M, and Jean M. :) Thanks so much for KBBQ. I think it’s time for another reunion at KBBQ. There’s valet(standard pricing — $ 2), street parking(free on Sundays, after 8pm M-Sat), and some residential if you don’t mind walking a little.

By far my most favorite restaurant in Los Angeles!!! seriously. What can i say about this place? It’s casual, it’s grungy and I f*ckin love it!!! My boyfriend and I first discovered this place when one late night, we tried to hit this other Korean BBQ place, but they were closing so we asked one of the waitresses working what else she could recommend and she suggested this place even though she worked at a rival restaurant! It’s very low key, and can be difficult to find if you don’t know where you’re going, but upon walking in all you see is cement walls covered in drawings done by happy customers, and just a handful of small low-to-the-ground tables surrounded by short stools, with loud k-pop or the latest pop music playing. Every waitress and waiter greets you as you walk in, and if it’s not too crowded you get seated right away. The food is amazing; the meats and seafood are primo! Everyone that works there is super friendly, and always remembers us every time we go and almost always hooks us up when we’re drinking, or joins us in the drinking! Reasonably priced, great service, great food, and great people. Can it get better than that?

Came during their happy hour which was $ 13.99 per person from a select menu from 10pm — 2am! Since it was late and we were 1 of only 5 tables, service was on point for the most part. They changed our grill frequently without having to ask! It’s dark, there’s writing on the walls, circular tables with stools(uncomfortable after a while), and flat screens around the whole place. It’s a different ambience from any other KBBQ joint that I’ve been to, which is a nice change. Also, when I was there at least, the front entrance doors were open as well as another large window so it was very well ventilated! You’re allowed to smoke and vape because of that! Other tables were smoking cigarettes and I never smelled it once. The round tables are small and the FOUR of us had to use extra stools to keep plates on. Also had to stack the side dishes to make room. They do accomodate large groups by combining tables. Other reviews say their menus were in Korean, but ours was an organized, laminated menu in English! Must be new? No complaints about the meat at all! Can’t ever go wrong with brisket and bulgogi! This is the first KBBQ joint I’ve been to that doesn’t serve potato salad as a side =[ We parked across the street in that little shopping plaza and didn’t get towed, yay!

DGM’s indoor décor certainly follows after their name, backstreet alley. Cement walls, dim lighting, tin saucers for grill tables, smoke filled restaurant, and pseudo-ventillation all bolsters the concept of eating in some dark alley in korea. The Pros: — the marinated short ribs are the best! — brisket is good, not too fatty. — they change the grill for every plate of meat! — very helpful servers! they even cook the meat for you when they walk by and see that you’re eating! haha — scallion pancake and egg(in a soft, tofu, jello-like form) The Cons: — prices went up but still good for the quality. Combo B is now $ 19.99(orig $ 16.99) — ventillators do not work. — smoking is allowed indoor :( — the backless, round seats can be a bit uncomfortable.(ladies, don’t bring totes) Parking $ 2 valet *Tip: COMEEARLY(before 6:00pm to avoid waiting)

By far one of the best AYCE in Koreatown! The meat was amazing. There’s a good selection of meat and great service! Definitely go if you want to have a good time. This is more of a smaller, hip place to go. From the outside, it looks really sketch. It’s definitely not a place you want to go to if you have a really large group. I went with 4 other of my friends and it was pretty cramped. They don’t have large table seating. Be aware that after 9PM, they allow people to smoke inside. Overall, if you’re looking for good quality food, come here!

DGM feels like more of a party spot than a straight up BBQ one and there’s nothing really wrong with that. In fact, their kalbi still beats most of the all you can eat places. We also had some pork belly, brisket, and sirloin. The sirloin basically comes a w whole steak that they cook then cut up for you which is pretty exciting.

This place reminds me of Seoul. Not like I been back for awhile, but yeah, it’s pretty fun and love the variety of meat. Read review about this place and literally they got stuff on menu not many kbbq has. I took advantage of their HH today~ after 10pm their ayce kalbi options are less than $ 20pp. Plus they got soondae. Who got soondae as an option in kbbq? I don’t recall not one. This was my second dinner, but I enjoyed it very much. Good meat selection, fast and attentive service and overall a great deal in ktown. I will be back~!

Came here after the Lakers game on 3⁄3. My friends have been going there for quite some time and vouched that ti would be a perfect spot to finish off the evening. We arrived close to 10pm(not hard to find at all) and found our selves at a hole-in-the-wall(not some fancy smancy) KBBQ joint. We were quickly seated(surprisingly place was somewhat crowded) and began our AYCE experience. The meat was pretty darn good. Love the spicy LA kalbi and out kalbi cuts. Sides dishes were plenty. But what set this place a part was the garlic dipping sauce. I dipped everything in it and it tasted awesome! Service was great and the drinks a plenty. After eating and drinking for 2 hours, our bill(including tax and tip) came out to $ 36 per person!!! WTH!!! Awesome… All in all, a great low-key place to hang and eat good food. Would definitely return.

Oh gosh where do I begin. So for the past few weeks I’ve been eating/drinking at this place. No this place is not the one in the sketchy plaza on wilshire haha. The meat at this place is very good! I usually get the brisket and the beef chunk?(gal bi sal) and my friend orders the hang jung sal(it’s a part of a pig… where? not sure) but I actually tried it just because my friend was PRAISING how good it is, and for one, it doesn’t smell… me and pork aren’t too close but this one didn’t smell and I actually kind of liked it but no… I won’t be able to eat more than 2. The AYCE is $ 20 per person but seriously it’s so worth it. It’s not too expensive but it’s not a cheap AYCE place and that makes it THAT much better. The side dishes are very fancy, they start you with their appetizer of korean styled pancakes which is yummy and their steamed egg is delicious! The interior doesn’t look so fancy, and if anything the chairs are sort of uncomfortable, but I think I got used to it. **WARNING** ladies, …your bags are going to be a problem, the seats are so tiny… if you have a big purse then… your options are the floor and the chair which can accommodate a tote haha! The service is quick and they are über chill! Even if it gets busy they won’t neglect you. Must try: gal bi sal, so chong gal bi(this is what they’re known for), neuk gan sal and hang sung sal! If you get all these you’re good to go, I mean they have other things on the menu but this is where your moneys at :) Definitely give it a try and it’s valet parking of course.

Under $ 20AYCEKBBQ is going the way of the dodo-bird these days, as cutthroat competition and rising meat prices have shuttered some of the old school joints who ruled KTown only a few years back. DGM is a nice exception to the rule, it feels like Korea, smells like Korea, is completely dark, smokey, loud, fun, yet somewhat frightening at the same time. Old dude lighting up a cigarette next to you? Check. Floors littered with garbage? Check. Lights go out to completely dark to sing some random a happy birthday song? Check. Patrons staying for 3+ hours yelling, stumbling around or sleeping the night away? Check. Good value for $ 17.99 and/or 19.99 a head? Check, check. Pluses were the thin brisket, pork cheek(skin), ribeye steak, veggie pancake, egg soup, and ramen availability. Minuses being LA galbi, inconsistency of meat quality(our second run of chadohl thin brisket was downright gnarly), and somewhat scattered service. Contrary to other reviews, I was less than enamored with the décor and vibe of this place but it was interesting nonetheless. Definitely a late night spot to drink, yell, smoke, and stuff your face for not a lot of dinero.
