I was really excited to try this place, but left disappointed. Let me start off with what I did like: First of all, I loved the atmosphere. I’ve never been to a sushi joint with a conveyor belt, so I thought that aspect was pretty cool. The food was pretty inexpensive. Each plate was about $ 2 with a couple of pieces of sushi on it. I know it doesn’t sound like a lot, but I like being able to try different ones without having to order huge rolls. Now the negative… It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t good sushi either. Some of the food didn’t seem very fresh. I had a roll with avacado on it and after I grabbed the plate I noticed the avacado was pretty brown. Also, it seemed like it was just different varieties of the same type of fish. I came in an hour before they closed, so maybe that’s why it was a little lacking. I might be it another shot during peak hours to see if it’s different.

On my hunt in LA for conveyor belt sushi, I came across this place. Odd little place. On a Friday night at 8pm, we had to wait about 20 min. Very worth the wait. And I liked it so much, I went back the following Friday when they open at 5pm. And I was not the only person waiting for the door to open. It’s like all-you-can-eat sushi because it’s SO cheap, and the portions are so small(in a good way), you can just eat yourself silly for very little money or time. I think tonight I had 13 plates(small plates! Don’t judge!) and it cost me $ 30. Free miso soup included. I love it. The sushi’s even unique(Exhibit A: crispy rice with salmon, crab and avocado, Exhibit B: Sweet raw shrimp with a fried shrimp head, exhibit C: collar of salmon/yellowtail/tuna). It’s fun. Also, they have a garage attached($ 1/hr). They say they take reservations, but no one answered the phone. And they currently do not have a liquor license. So don’t expect saki or saporo. Just soda.

On a Saturday night, not feeling liking cooking, I came here with a friend for dinner. Maybe I’m just spoiled by better(and cheaper) revolving sushi places(admittedly not in Koreatown) but Fat Fish didn’t really cut it in my book. My friend and I got about eight different dishes. I can’t say I was full afterward, but it seemed like the same variations kept coming out. There would be spicy tuna with some mayo, California artificial crab with some mayo, and variations thereof. I think I saw one plate of unagi(eel) pass by while we were there. Looking to spice things up, my friend and I ordered the«dynamite,» for which the sign tempted us the entire meal. Thinking it was a roll, we kept waiting for it to come out. Eventually, we checked with the waitstaff, who seemed confused and said it already came out(they meant on the conveyor belt). Then they brought out a small dish with some melted cheese covering a unrecognizable lump. So needless to say, the dynamite is not a roll. Think of it more like melted cheese on top of some artificial crab and fish. My other complaint here is that the dish pricing is hard to figure out. They label dishes according to the type, so bamboo, red and blue are all different prices. But there were multiple occasions where I grabbed a blue dish thinking it was bamboo. In reality, it was a blue colored dish with a painting of bamboo on the surface. That’s confusing. Service: Okay — they definitely seemed understaffed, though. Two waiters for the entire restaurant? Bottom line: I’ll be back, I’ll lower my expectations, and I won’t order the dynamite unless I want some dynamite gas.

The experience of grabbing various plates of sushi from a conveyor belt is fun enough, and add to it that the sushi tastes great, the plates only cost $ 2 – 3 a piece, and you get a ton of variety makes Fat Fish a winner . Parking: you can park on the street or use the lot. I always park on the street. Atmosphere: the restaurant is spacious and modern. However, it is a possibility that you’ll sit close to a stranger. Restroom: I found this funny and had to share – the women’s toilets have heated seats, which was a nice touch(no pun intended.)

WHATTHEFATFISHHAPPEND? … heehee… that was lame. My friend and I went for dinner here, we should’ve walked out when we figured they had no A/C but nope… we decided to stay… Even if they have a cover over the plates, it’s sushi though… I don’t know if it’ll be safe to have no A/C in 90degrees weather… :( We tried salmon, tuna, halibut… but no. All the fishes were not good. They did not have any alcohol beverages hahha don’t judge me but seriously I was craving a COLD glass of beer but nope. We also ordered the soft shell crab appetizer. THEWORST decision ever, the soft shell crab was actually NOT fully cooked … yea i know the«gut» should be oozing out a LITTLE but… it was literally half raw and no i didn’t want to risk it we paid for it though. There isn’t much for me to say about this place, it’s a hit or a miss some of the fish quality was actually decent like… salmon and snapper(I THINK I THINK) I don’t like yellow tail so I didn’t try it but my friend seemed to like it. We’re real big«fish» people but we also like to try new places and I have to tell you this is NOT somewhere we’ll be returning anytime soon. Maybe when the temperature drops to like 60 then we’ll come back. hahaha Their servers ARESONICE… I felt bad, they were running around with no a/c but they always kept an eye out for our drinks my water was never empty. They were friendly and helpful but I think they need to work on their english a little bit haha :) I used to LOVE fat fish… but …wow… they need to step up on their game haha

I like the conveyor belt and thought it was a great idea, until I’ve sat there eating for a good 20 minutes and start to wonder how long have some of these dishes been going round and round… They have a happy hour that lasts most, if not the entire day. Basically, each colored dish is a different price point. It ranges from $ 2 to I think $ 5.50. There are few specialty items that are a couple bucks more. Cheap food and cheap quality, but that’s expected. Plenty of the normal California rolls type and the usual spicy tuna, but nothing special. The portions are small as well. It’s a good place for a quick lunch if you’re looking for cheap sushi!

Fat Fish is a nice place to go. The ambiance is quite hip. Pretty large place that runs deep in the building which you won’t believe just by looking through the windows. It has a large sushi bar, and tables all around. They play good old skool music that evening dated back in the 80’s and 90’s which brings back so many memories. Cool… I had to try out this place since the food is made and placed on a conveyor belt. And it’s only 2.00 a dish. The sushi here is good, but not great. And the pieces are not nearly as huge as the other places. But just can’t beat the 2 bucks. If you are hungry… you will probably order many dishes, and the 2.00 really adds up if you also include a drink. My friend told me after the affect not to order special rolls other then what’s on the conveyor belt. I ordered a Spider Roll. It was 9.00 for 5 pieces… and it was just mediocre. I assume that’s how the business makes their profit by charging a substantial amount more for their special orders. At least we are able to ask for new sushi if we thought whats on the the belt was sitting a bit too long. I enjoyed their unagi, and tuna rolls the most. They have this one potato ball that I thought was decent too. Overall, the cleanliness seems to be there. The restaurant was quite nice and had a pleasant experience having a nice dinner with friends.

I never knew LA had another kaiten-zushi [conveyor belt sushi] restaurant until my brother brought me here a while back! At $ 2 a plate for most choices, Fat Fish is both wallet-friendly and delicious. After a while, it felt like it should be called ‘California roll 100 ways’, because 80% of what comes out is a California roll base with something of korean influence or another variational flourish on top, but I still really liked it. They had this amazing spicy tuna on a fried rice cracker that was gorgeousssss! Actually, although smaller in number on the conveyor belt without actually ordering from the chefs directly, the nigiri-zushi was delicious and very fresh. Even the miso soup that came with the meal was much better than most of the instant varieties most sushi restaurants serve elsewhere. The atmosphere is very trendy with modern design and an almost club-like atmosphere, which is very different from the quiet and sometimes stuffy vibe a lot of sushi restaurants have. It’s a great restaurant to go with friends when you’re starving, and want to spend under $ 30. I will definitely go back!

Who would have known that their is a rotating sushi bar in koreatown?! Right? I know! That’s what I said~ This place is convenient, service is good, you don’t have to wait for the sushi to be made to order because there’s so many different dishes already prepared, fresh! Happy hour prices are awesome and it’s right next to pinkberry so you can mosey on over afterward ;)

Fat Fish is just another reminder of why I hate kaiten sushi places(aka the sushi-go-round). Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of floating and conveyer belt sushi places, but they have all sucked. The reason? It’s a fucking gimmick. If you have never been to one of these places, imagine a conveyor belt with a circular track that is topped off with color-coded plates of various types of sushi where the different colors signify varying prices(makes one wonder if color blind people have a possible class action here). It looks fun and exciting at first, but it gets old really fast, especially when you start to realize that Fat Fish doesn’t offer that big of a selection on the belt. I mean sometimes I feel like screaming when I eat here because all I see are the same fucking tuna and salmon sushi plates that greeted me when I first sat down. This is the main gripe I have with Fat Fish — the lack of options and the lack of quality. And since they started implementing $ 2 lunch specials and dinner deals, I’ve noticed an even more significant decline. You see, when you go to a normal sushi restaurant, the sushi chef makes your food fresh to order. However, at Fat Fish, it can be a mystery as to when your food was made because it’s not like they put a time stamp on the dishes. Furthermore, due to this system a lot of the sushi dishes become warm and the warm dishes like dynamite become cold. Meh… Also, when Fat Fish does put out fresh food, you better be seated at the center of the belt because new sushi plates get hawked up as quickly as they are made and almost never make it to the seats at the ends of the conveyer belt. Literally, the«fresh meat» gets pillaged immediately. While you can always order sushi off the menu, from my experiences here, everything from the menu takes too damn long and nothing really stands out. In my opinion, sushi should be treated with respect and should always be fresh since it is served raw. Sadly, Fat Fish doesn’t do either because $ 2 sushi plates should be an automatic indication of something fishy going on. * The sushi chefs here love putting sauce on their raw fish. FFS, leave the fish alone because I want to taste the damn thing. ** If you do end up picking up the dynamite dish, ask your server to reheat it because eating it cold is just nasty. *** The only reason I come here is because non-Asian clients like this type of crap. Too bad they don’t realize that this sushi restaurant is not authentic because it is not run by Japanese people. **** The interior looks like a weird combination of Pinkberry and Z Gallerie gone wrong. Moreover, Fat Fish has way too much idle space.

Fat Fish just brings out the worst in me when it comes to eating. Whenever I eat here, I can’t help but get the crazy eyes as I stare menacingly at the delicious, shining morsels of sushi traveling across the conveyer belt. If you’ve never eaten sushi off of a conveyer belt before, you need to come here asap and try it. It’s quite simple, really. You sit across a really long table where the plates of sushi travel in front of you. You are free to select as many plates as you’d like. The plates contain various pieces of sushi, rolls and desserts. Behind the conveyer belt are several sushi chefs preparing different sushi rolls, but you’re also free to make requests. Happy Hour is all day now, so the plates of sushi go for $ 2 — $ 3.50 per plate. The plates are marked by colors, so you know which pieces of sushi are worth more. The sushi is usually of pretty good quality, but I’ve had better, but what you do you expect when some of the same pieces of sushi have been floating around for a while. Just be selective and watch out for the fresher pieces. Each plate contains about 2 to 3 pieces. Salmon sushi, white-fish sushi and the salmon baked rice are my favorites, especially the salmon baked rice. You have to order it through the waiter but trust me, you won’t want to miss it. It’s a slice of fresh salmon sashimi on top of crab meat, spicy scallop sauce and baked crispy rice. Mmm. However, this place loses one star because sometimes the choices are great and other times, the selection is kind of small. The wait is usually pretty long, especially around dinner time so get here early or try to make reservations. Parking is in the parking garage located in the building where Fat Fish is located and it goes for $ 2. If you’re in the K-town area and are looking for some great dining options, aside from the usual KBBQ, come to Fat Fish for great food, but make sure to watch out for your clothes because you will walk out of the restaurant smelling like what you ate.

I live fairly close to this place and I generally love conveyor sushi belt places(especially if they have dessert!) This is the first conveyor belt sushi place I’ve seen in so cal, though I’ve seen tons in Oregon and Vancouver. It’s not going to be great quality,(and it isn’t which is why it’s one less star) but they do have a lot of variety and it’s novel. Also as my-oh-so-funny bf put it it’s «food porn». It’s kind of trendy I guess and it’s fairly crowded often; the first time my bf and I waited nearly 40 minutes. You sit around the conveyor belt side to side, take whatever you want to eat off the belt and there you have it! The plates are priced individually and you pay per plate by the color. What I really like about this place is that I can come with super hungry people when I’m not that hungry because I can pick and choose what I eat and exactly how much. A tip though is don’t go with more than 3 people because you all sit in a row side to side, and it’s hard to talk if it’s just one long row.(Unless of course that was the whole point of you taking a group of people cause you didn’t want to talk to a certain someone) One thing that does bum me out about this place is that they don’t serve sake or beer. It would’ve made this place so much better, and it would make the waiting time so much more pleasant if they would. Oh well, I would still come back eventually if the mood struck.

Walking distance from work is Fat Fish, it’s very easy to «order«here, basically the sushi is on a conveyor loop and you just pick your plate, Plates are priced by the color of the plate and range from $ 2.00 to $ 6.00, each plate has about 2 – 3 rolls. I love that I can choose from a variation of sushi, but you have to know your sushi since there is no menu or just do like me and just pick a plate and hope for the best. Always seems to work best for me, haven’t had a plate I didn’t enjoy. The staff however is always willing to help if you need assistance in questioning a plate, they have a delicious dessert of caramelized bananas, marshmallow and chocolate dipped strawberry. Fat Fish isn’t for everyone but it pleases this sushi girl… * I love that they have heated toilet seats in the women’s restroom, just an FYI.

Judging from my posted photo alone, I’m pretty sure you could tell what I thought about this place right? Well if you can’t, Fat Fish is definitely one of the places that have unlocked my soul from its state of hibernation, as school has really put a toll on how much I can and used to go out. I’ve been to revolving sushi places before, but nothing like Fat Fish. The interior is absolutely stunning as its exactly the type of design that I love so much, modern. The ambiance of the place is very«club/hip» with the high contrast between orange, white, and black. The restaurant is split into two parts where one side of the restaurant is entirely dedicated toward the revolving sushi and the other for lounge space. Overall, the service was great, and my party of 3 were seated immediately. At that moment, I couldn’t help myself but simply grabbed left and right until I realized I had no more room at my table. My favorites include: salmon sashimi, unagi sashimi, eel rolls, and spicy tuna. Basically getting a couple(okay more than a couple) of these dishes. All in all, Fat Fish is a great sushi place to go to. The only reason why I give it 4 stars as opposed to 5 is because of pricing. Pricing isn’t too expensive either but the portions are relatively small. I’ve had better sushi at other places where it’s AYCE where I paid the same exact price.

The prices are cheap, but the portions are small. My niece and I ate here last night and it was my first time, but her 6 or 7th time. I thought the food was decent. It was fairly fresh and bite size. I had two orders of salmon sushi, two orders of fat fish roll, and another roll(california roll on bottom topped with crab on top). All were 2 pieces. I wasn’t too hungry, so that’s all I ate. Parking is $ 1.00 with validation. You can see my pictures. Xie Xie!

Came here for happy hour. The sushi conveyer belt area is pretty small and can only fit 20ish people so if you come after 7:30 expect there to be a wait. We got there around 7:10 and only had to wait a couple minutes. I enjoy nigiri and sashimi and really savoring the flavor of the fish, but I only do that when my dad’s in town. So whenever I go out for sushi with the bf we enjoy our trashy americanized rolls. The complimentary miso soup to start was a nice touch. I really liked their tuna on top of crispy rice and their baked dynamite was good(but can you really go wrong with anything containing that much mayo?) Service was great, sushi chefs checked up on us once or twice to see if we wanted any custom orders and my water glass stayed full. My bf and I shared 10 plates and weren’t completely full after. My cheapass has found places that have filled us both up for under $ 20. So I would say this place is only average price for the quality sushi they serve though.

Introduced to Fat Fish by Kien. and what a pleasant surprise. I don’t particulary care for kaiten sushi bars but this place gave new meaning to kaiten sushi bars. Miso soup, hot tea with sushi. Ingredients FRESH. I had maguro, hamachi, mirugai, more hamachi, scallop nigiri and they had a special, BC oysters. Fresh! !!! The best part? $ 2 per plate(2 nigiri each plate) for lunch«happy hour» until 3 pm.

Really love their happy hour. $ 2 for a plate of sushi(usually 2 – 3 pieces/plate). Also ordered off their menu — $ 5 for a large plate of shrimp tempura! It came with 3 shrimps, a whole cut cucumber, kabocha slices, and a bed of green salad! it’s cooked to order, so it came piping hot. Only sad thing was that they ran out of oysters at 10pm. aww. They were really busy when we got there but they made sure we got our order in, miso soup, and water. if there’s something that you don’t see on the belt or the menu, you can request it. one lady had requested a roll they had not heard of before. the sushi chef(s) made it and the waiter came by and patiently awaited their feedback. wow. Love the vibe, very apt for a pre-clubbing meal! Oh! Pinkberry is just 10 steps away! =) Literally.

I go to Fat Fish pretty often because I live within walking distance. What makes this place special is Happy Hour! It’s simply AMAZING! $ 2 a plate after 8pm(formerly 9pm) cannot be beat. Granted it’s not extra fansy quality sushi, it’s still delicious. And while they have a pretty good selection of sushi on the conveyor belt, if you don’t see what you want, you can ask them to make it for you and it’s still going to be $ 2 assuming you don’t get something super fancy. Sometimes they will have oysters on there too. They also give you free miso soup too! Unfortunately, Fat Fish does NOT serve alcohol. We asked them about it before and I guess they haven’t been able to get approved for a license yet. Kinda odd considering Koreans LOVE to drink and there are bars all over K-town. However, they do allow you to bring your own alcohol! I’m not sure of the exact rules, but we celebrated a birthday here once in the side dining room and they had no problems with us bringing our own bottles of booze. Note, however, you can’t get half-off prices if you aren’t sitting on the revolving sushi side.
