Korean food-at-its-best. They have so many option of food to choose from. We had Mayonnaise Shrimp w/a lettuce, Egg Custard Banchan, Cumin Pork w/cilantro & chillies, Quail Kabob, bull penis and Squid — very delicious and fairly priced. The portion was good and we left feeling satisfied. I agree that this place is worth going to. Good food, friendly and a quick service at good price. What can you ask for? Just give this place a try and I’m sure you will enjoy eating here.

My family I love to come to this place for the lamb kebab its season very well it’s very tasty that is the Pro the cons about this place is the service depending on which server I have to be fair… can be a little bit difficult to communicate but if you’re coming here for their service then don’t go but if you’re going there for the food and a little bit of the atmosphere it is an experience I would definitely recommend you to go, if you’re going there with kids I would say it’s ages of 7 And older… definitely not a family-oriented place so don’t bring little ones… overall the food is fantastic

Feng Mao mainly does just one thing, but it does it well. The skewers here are well marinated, and the meat is juicy and delicious once grilled. There wasn’t too much going on banchan-wise though. Their servers were attentive, helping our large group turn the meat more efficiently, and they were also accommodating with seating for our group. A meal of as many skewers as we could eat, plus a lot of soju and beer, came out to about $ 40/person. The skewers that I enjoyed the most include the basic beef and lamb, chicken gizzard, chicken heart, and the quail. Definitely a good and somewhat unique place to come to with a group

Lamb is the best here and I love the cumin powder dip(also known as the«CRACK») No gamey smells and it’s just delicious.

Last Sunday, I went to grab some kabobs with a friend. Ordered the 10 lamb kabobs combo, with a few other main entrees. Kabobs were pretty good, albeit smaller portions. However, we found small hairs in our side dishes. One hair was found in the broccoli side dish, and the other hair in the kimchi. Needless to say, I lost my appetite after. 2 stars for average kabobs. No stars for cleanliness. Will not be back.

I am a big fan of skewers and spices but Feng Mao was just alright in my books. Food: The meat was good and the sauces are decent. The quality of the meat were whatevers, the sauces makes up for it. The meat come raw and marinated. I like that you get to cook your own food but you need to watch out and remember to rotate the meat so it cooks evenly. Service: Servers weren’t really attentive. Typical Asian restaurant service. Ambience: Nothing fancy. The place is quite small and the location is kind of random. There aren’t many tables so expect to wait outside for a bit. Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat at Feng Mao. There are other great food places in Ktown.

I went to Feng Mao Lamb Kebab and didn’t have any lamb. This makes me think that I might’ve missed the point of the place, and that maybe I ought to go back. The thing is, though, I didn’t really love it, and I wonder if I’ll ever choose it again over all the other great places in Koreatown. I went with a friend who loves the location on Olympic, and says it has a completely different vibe from this newer outpost. This Feng Mao was a large restaurant in a Western strip mall with completely unnecessary valet parking – I mean I know $ 2 mandatory valet is sort of par for the course in Koreatown, but I bristle when they set up shop in half-empty lots. The space was big but kind of desolately plain – just long rows of tables overhung with ventilation hoods – and almost entirely empty. Service was spotty. No one ever checked on us unless we rang the embarrassingly loud call button. It took me a long time to get a Diet Coke, and the food came out oddly staggered, too, to the point where we thought the kitchen had forgotten half of our order. The food was decent. The banchan spread wasn’t anything special – a simple salad, some boiled peanut, some broccoli, maybe a couple other things I’ve forgotten – but I did like the steamed egg, which was hot, fluffy, and savory. We ordered some skewers, a cold dish of dry tofu with hot sauce, and some boiled dumplings, all to share, and this worked out pretty well. The skewers were fun, kind of a Korean-Chinese variation on Korean barbecue. They came raw, and we cooked them ourselves on the skewer-cooking apparatus built into our table. We got no guidance on this, and definitely burnt a few of our first round – the fire was intense. We got marinated beef, short rib, pork belly asparagus, and squid skewers. There was a cumin spice mix for the beef, a thin soy-type sauce for the pork, and spicy chile sauce for the squid. The beef rolled around in the spices was great, tender and flavorful, even with a little black char. The pork belly wrapped around asparagus was nice, too – I liked the blistered asparagus. I was disappointed in the squid, though. It cooked up pretty rubbery, and even the sauce didn’t quite make it tasty. The non-skewer stuff came way after the skewers. It would’ve been nice to have the cold dry tofu to eat more as a side to the meat, but oh well. This was a neat dish, a heaping pile of dried bean curd strips tossed in a spicy, vinegary dressing with slivered onions and chiles. We took most of it home, but it’s the kind of thing that does great in the refrigerator – in fact, it came out warmer than expected at the restaurant, and I suspect it’s better straight cold. The boiled dumplings were okay. I liked the skins, which were on the thicker side, but they did feel a little waterlogged because of their doughiness. The filling was heavy on the meat, and had an almost aggressive pork stink which was almost off-putting at first. I came around, though, and ate a bunch of the dumplings. I just wouldn’t come to this place seeking them out. I have a feeling Feng Mao is more fun at dinner, with some soju and a little more atmosphere. I’m moving in a few weeks, and will be within walking distance of this place for the foreseeable future. Part of me thinks I’ll end up coming back here because it’s so close, but I also know how much good food there is in the rest of Koreatown. I guess I’ll update this review if I accidentally become a regular.

Randomly stumbled upon this place. Glad I did! Pros: The meat was good and there are plenty of choices to choose from. Price are alright. You get more bang for you buck when you order the actual pre-made dishes. The people working there were really nice lol. They spoke Mandarin to me, but sucks because I only know Canto: S. They also saw that I was struggling to cook the kebabs(My SO wasn’t with us this time to cook :’() so there was this one younger lady that kept dropping by to move things around and tell us which ones are done lolol. I felt kind of incompetent, but she was so nice about it and she was easy on the eyes too. They were pretty attentive to our needs. They did forget water in the beginning, but that’s okay. We got it immediately after we asked when one of the other ladies stopped by to ask how we were doing. Great service, good food decent prices and serving sizes. Cons: The location was a bit random. We parked a bit far away and kind of just wandered into this place lol. I’ll need to double check, but parking didn’t seem like it would be easy? I saw valet for $ 2 so possibly there. Maybe more dipping sauces because there wasn’t much to dip the meat in. Bottom line: I want to try this place again because I didn’t get a chance to try out many of the other skewers. The lamb was great though! I saw some reviews about people complaining about bad service, but the service for me at the time I went was exceptional. They were so nice lol.

Ahhh. This review is way long overdue. I been coming here forever & now I’m kinda craving for some lamb kebab. I never cared for lamb before till I had some here. OMG, they’re so good. Almost everything I had was so freakin good! This place is a Chinese/Korean restaurant. But most of the workers here speaks Mandarin. I would not recommend anyone coming here dress up because you will walk out smelling like outdoor bbq pit. So dress casual unless you do want to smell like a bbq pit. This restaurant is a fun place to come w/a group of people, order some drinks, some skewer and just taking your time to just eat and enjoy your company. Basil Claims 4⁄5 $ 11.95 The claims are stir fry with basil & chili peppers. The claims are a good size too, it’s tasty & sweet since claims are naturally sweet! Warm Noodles M43⁄5 $ 5.99 I didn’t care for the warm noodles it didn’t have much flavor. I think it’s suppose to be like rice just something for you to just eat your dish with. We always order this because even tho I’m not a fan other people in my parties are. Pork Pan Buns M14⁄5 $ 8.99 I enjoy the pork buns, the bread is steamed til it’s light and fluffy. The pork inside was well seasoned, moist and very tasty. I would order this dish again. Meats: We order almost every skewer on the menu and it was good. I think it was the seasoning powder that they gave us. But cooking it on their special grill made it very tasty, smoky, woody and moist. The fat from the meat comes to the surface making it moist and tasty. Dipping it into their special seasoning powder makes it taste 10 times better. I love their special seasoning powder, I can dip any meat into it and it’ll be delicious. **Meat Kebobs we order: Beef Kebab(10 pieces) $ 12.99 Marinated Beef(5 pieces) $ 8.99 Beef Intestine(5 pieces) $ 7.99 Beef Belly(1 piece) $ 2 Big Back Straps Paddy Wack(1 piece) $ 2 Beef Short Ribs(1 piece) $ 1.50 Bull Penis(1 piece) $ 1.50 Chicken Kebab(10 pieces) $ 10.99 Chicken Heart(5 pieces) $ 5.99 Chicken Gizzard(5 pieces) $ 5.99 Chicken Ribs(1 piece) $ 2 Chicken Ribs(1 piece) $ 2 Chicken Wing(1 piece) $ 1.50 Lamb Kebab(10 pieces) $ 12.99 Lamb Liver(5 pieces) $ 7.99 Lamb Spareribs(1 piece) $ 4 Lamb Ribs(1 piece) $ 3 Lamb Heart(1 piece) $ 2 Lamb Kidney(1 piece) $ 2 Pork Heart(5 pieces) $ 6.99 Pork Kidney(5 pieces) $ 5.99 Pork Belly w/Asparagus(1 piece) $ 3.50 Pork Belly w/Enoki Mushrooms(1 piece) $ 2.50 Quail(1 piece) $ 5.99 **Seafood Kebab we order: Fish Balls(1 piece) $ 1.50 Pawns(5 pieces) $ 8.99 Sisamo(5 pieces) $ 8.99 Squid(5 pieces) $ 6.99 Corn(1 piece) $ 2 Potato(1 piece) $ 2 Dry Tofu(1 piece) $ 1.50 Soung Mushroom(1 piece) $ 1.99 Eggplant(1 piece) $ 1 Steam Bun(1 piece) $ 1.50

Came here with my GF and a couple of friends to try their much hyped Bulls Penis. Yes, they serve their dong here. We came around noon and found street parking — their private lot is pretty tiny so don’t be surprised if its full. As soon as we sat down, we got served Salad, 4 Banchan(Bean Sprouts, Peanuts, Celery and Pickled Radishes and Steamed Egg — 1 per 2 people). The limited Banchan was expected as this was not a Korean BBQ joint. What bothered me was that when we asked for a re-fill on the Bean Sprouts, the lady said that they run out. What the F@$%? How can you run out of Bean Sprouts at 12pm on a weekend?! Please don’t lie to us and instead say you don’t do refills on Banchan. Lamb Kebab: Good. I love lamb and they were not bad. On some skewers I noticed that there were some cubes of fat — not attached to the meat… probably a filler since lamb is expensive. Beef Kebab: Same as the lamb except none of that fat. Probably since its a cheaper meat they are okay with making a Kebab of all meat. Bulls Penis: Smaller than I thought — size and portion! If you don’t cook it until crisp, it could be chewy. Once its crisp, taste like chicharron or chicken skin. Not bad, but wouldn’t get it again. Shishamo: Didn’t look very fresh so we grilled them until we were completely sure they were fully cooked before we got sick. Pork Belly and Enoki Mushroom: Best item not a bit hard to cook — unable to make pork belly crispy without burning the Enoki. Cold Noodle: Mehhhh. Overall, this was an okay experience. Food was decent but expensive for what we got. Service was DEFINITELY lacking: –Water bottle wasn’t refilled –We pressed the button for service and no one came –Got our order wrong the 1st time –Lied that they ran out of Bean Sprouts banchan at 12pm on a weekend(so cheap they didn’t want to give us a refill) –One of the ladies spoke no English –Took forever to get the check and forever again for them to charge us… Prob not coming back… ever.

I really had high expectation about this place before going due to its great review. However I had a totally disappointing experience after dining here. This place was definitely being hyped up but not worth the great review. First of all, this place is not clean, I could feel the grease on my plate and utensils. I also saw they putting water bottle on the floor. Not sure if they serve to customers but this is a super minus. They wiped out table and seat with dirty towel and asked us to sit on the wet chair. Second, it is overpriced. Skewers were definitely overpriced with the quality and quantity. Third, no banchan refill. I asked for refill of bean sprouts and the waitress grab our plate and then walked back to our table after 2 minutes telling us they are out of banchan. Seriously? it was 12 pm and you already out of banchan? I mean this place serve until dinner time and how can you serve other customers if you are out of banchan. I do not feel comfortable eating here and I did not get full after spending $ 42. The bull penis was nothing special, it was chewy and tasted like chicken skin. I highly doubt if they cleaned that before serving. It was hard to cook out skewers because the skewers do not rotate on the grill itself and we had to use our hand to rotate it. I am sure there are better BBQ place out there.

Mind-blown, the servers at Feng Mao are tri-lingual, English, Korean or Mandarin Chinese. Not quite sure where else to get«yang rou chuan»(or «chuar», you got me my fellow BJers?!) in Los Angeles — Feng Mao hits that northern Chinese spot in my stomach. Think of Feng Mao as a Chinese-Korean BBQ and get the lamb skewers for sure. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. And also walk out smelling like BBQ…

Servers speak Korean or Mandarin Chinese if you prefer. Love the flavor of the dipping powder. It’s similar to Mah-Lah Chinese hotpot. You cook the kebobs to your liking over charcoal. So if you like your meat cooked over charcoal this is a place you need to check out. You can also get intestines, kidneys, etc if you’re into those kinds of cuts. I can’t speak for how good they — not my thing. My friend who ordered it seemed to enjoy himself. All the food goes well with beer.

I wish I didn’t live so far! It’s such a drive to come here from OC but it’s worth it! Lamb and beef kabobs alllll day! They have quality meat and their spice mix just makes the meat even better! The coals spark a bit and I have been burned haha but it wasn’t too bad. Just be cautious.

Features: –We came here on a Monday night and there were no wait. –We ordered the sauteed on choy which were okay in terms of taste. Nothing too special. –The asparagus and bacon was okay, I didn’t think it was that delicious as the bacon did not have much of any taste to it. –The lamb and beef kebabs were seasoned well, very well marinated, and were exquisite in taste. I really liked how unique the taste was in comparison to other restaurants. The meats were very juicy and I am definitely a fan of the meaty kebabs. Improvement: –Customer service was slow, we had to ask them to refill our waters several times. Also, they didn’t refill our small dishes. Tips: –This place is known for their kebabs so make sure you order those before other dishes. –Valet in front for only $ 2. –Restaurant takes cash and credit cards.

Decided to try this place out as a change up from my regular Korean BBQ experiences. I’ve had Korean BBQ a bit too much recently and just didn’t want it anymore. I found this place and it definitely looked different and unique! I mean… It’s kebabs and they have a cooling rack on the top of the grill too. The restaurant is located in a plaza with valet parking. We got seated immediately, they cleaned the table off of course. It seemed quite busy, but bare-able. We got all of our sides and what not. But, when we say down. No one gave us menus. So we had to ask. We ordered the lamb kebab, marinated beef, and chicken as our protein. Also, eggplant, mushrooms, and the buns. The waiter came and helped us cook. It was weird because he kept slapping the meat to have it separated and the oil was splattering all over the place. It didn’t get on me, but it was messy. Even though we didn’t ask for help in the first place. And he kept saying that we should finish our food before cooking some more. Which was weird. Because can’t the customer do whatever we choose to? I mean. I understand but we just wanted to experience the whole grilling and cooking ourselves. He came back a few times to do the same thing. Which got annoying. I mean the food was good, get the marinated beef, probably my favorite and full of flavor. But expect someone to slap your kebabs up and down. With oil splattering all over the table.

First time here based on a recommendation from a friend because this place is Chinese-Korean owned that serves kebab/lamb skewers. They have an extensive selection of skewers and you grill them at your table. We ordered a few variety of things Beef Kebab — 10 pieces for $ 13.99 Beef belly — 3 pieces for $$ 2.59 each(don’t order this… tasted horrible and real old) Pork Bellies and asparagus — 10 pieces for $ 3.50 Chicken heart — 5 pieces for $ 6.99 And a few mushrooms… I thought the food was just OKAY! Service was extremely bad. It took them forever to come to our table even when we rung the service bell. We spoke both mandarin and Korean and still couldn’t get their attention. which we thought could enhance the service a little but didn’t. Towards the middle of our dining experience, we added a cold noodle dish which took over 25 min to arrive. We had to nudge them continuously and have them check on that order… they kept telling us that it was«coming!» I’m sorry but that dish does not take that long. Overall, my experience here wasn’t so great and to top if off, the meat was mediocre.

What an awesome place. We came pretty late and the lady still served us. You order skewers and they bring them out raw. There is an open flame grill and you cook it yourself. Think making smores except with meats. There is a minimum of 10 skewers to start the flame or else they cook it for you in the back. They give you side dishes. The cucumber was good. I even enjoyed the salad. The lady comes over and throws in real coal and lights the bad boy up. The flame starts and you leave the skewers there to cook. Keep rotating them to avoid burning. When they are done, you just move them to the top to keep warm. The flavor of the meats were good. They give you spices to dip if you want to add kick. We got lamb, chicken bones(sounds weird but good), chicken, and beef. I highly recommend this place
