Lo bueno: Simplemente espectacular. Un lugar al que hay que ir. Lo malo: Lo cierran el 31 de Mayo de 2015.

This place is awesome. Small spot with great food and great service. Was looking for a quick bite after shopping and if it wasn’t for Unilocal I would have never found this place. Was looking through the photos of past customers and what sold me was the coffee. Must try! We also had the short rib porridge. Another must! Will definitely come back.

Great service. Yummy food. About $ 20 all in for a chicken bahn mi sandwich and side salad and green tea. The only trouble was it was difficult to find plus parking ran me $ 6 because we had a long, leisurely lunch.

AMAZING. I wish I was still hungry so that I could order everything on the menu in one sitting. Definitely coming back for the porridge. Ordered the croque monster and the crispy rice egg thingy… would travel to the east side to eat here again!

Thank god for Unilocal because I would NEVER have found this place otherwise. It’s a pretty casual place with open seating and friendly workers. Also they have a pop-up dinner time counterpart called Porridge and Puffs, which I have never been to but am so looking forward to trying! They have an interesting menu, to say the least. There are more traditional lunch items like frittata and then they have Asian fusion types of food like crispy rice and porridge(congee/juk, anyone?). I opted for Asian. +Crispy rice: really good! I grew up eating crispy rice at home, and to break the poached egg over it and eat it with other veggies just made it that much better. +Vietnamese coffee: it was good but SOSTRONG. Like, this could wake up even the grumpiest of NOT-morning-people. AKA me. +My friend got the short rib porridge and I think it was just too savory for that time of day but I’m not sure. He enjoyed my dish a lot more than his own. Non-traditional Asian lunches + coffee that makes me feel like I’m having heart palpitations? It’s a strange combination, sure, but somehow I’m sold!

this is a really nice lunch spot if you’re in the area. the menu is interesting and everything is made with care. there’s nothing that seems rushed or sloppy here. it’s clear a lot of thought has gone into the menu, décor and execution. it’s simple, minimalist, but complete. i’ve had quite a few things here — the fritatta stood out as a memorable dish. very fluffy. it was light yet filling at the same time. only down side is i’ve come in a few times and they’re out of certain dishes, so it’s not always fully stocked. however, i take that as a sign to mean that they prepare only to serve the freshest meals. it’s also a few bucks more than i normally spend on week day lunches but i think it’s worth it for what you’re getting.

Just a stone’s throw away from my office and what a gem! I didn’t know that porridge existed as a main course for any lunch menu in the Hollywood area. When I saw a friend of mine post a photo on Instagram with porridge and a PINK egg, I knew I had to try! I came here on a recent lunch expedition with some colleagues and arrived around noon. The restaurant was pretty empty, except for 2 other parties who were already chowing down. The hostess/waitress greeted us upon our arrival and helped set up a table for six. She was quite friendly throughout and did indeed recommend the porridge. I opted for the short rib porridge with a side salad since I wanted to get some greens in my lunch. In hindsight, I should have gone full hog and just gone with the full order of porridge. When it arrived, it was beautifully plated complete with the pink pickled egg and a small salad on the side. The salad was decent, but didn’t really stand out to me in any way. However, the star of the meal was definitely the porridge. The portion was a bit small(about 5 spoonfuls) for the price and I wish there was more than one piece of short rib. Regardless, it was delicious and I’ve had a hankering to go back and get the bigger size. I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee, but it didn’t come the traditional way with the drip and condensed milk. It came in a glass with ice. It was strong as hell tho. I couldn’t stop shaking all afternoon. Looking forward to coming back and getting my porridge on.

After a productive morning at the Hollywood Farmers’ Market, we saw this restaurant on the corner and decided to give it a try. Given its name, I didn’t think I’d be spoiling my diet or ruining the«clean eating theme of the day» by eating here. THESETTING: Located off of Vine and Selma. We parked in a structure off Ivar, but there’s metered parking and other lots around the vicinity. Freshly baked pastries were nicely displayed on the counter area and the open kitchen was positioned behind it. Windows surround the restaurant with most of the tables near the windows, it’s not very big in here, but it wasn’t cramped. Concrete floors and steel tables set a modern tone. THESERVICE: Fast-Casual. You order and pay for your food at the counter. They will bring your order to you when it’s ready. Very friendly staff, they seemed to know about the menu items. THEFOOD: I ordered the Frittata and the Rosemary Scone. I’m usually skeptical when ordering eggs, but this was DELICIOUS! Arguably the BEST friggin’ Frittata I’ve ever had. It was as soft as butter and didn’t leave any«eggy» after taste in your mouth. The only thing missing: tomatoes. That’s a personal preference; I would have liked tomatoes in my frittata, but they didn’t have any. It was still great, even without the tomatoes! The Rosemary Scone was good, too! I haven’t had a scone prior to this so I really don’t have much to compare it to, but I enjoyed it, so that’s all that matters! INCONCLUSION: I enjoyed my food and will definitely make it a point to go back. I want to try the other menu items now that I know how good my food was. I especially want to try the Porridge next time. Perfect spot for some light eating!

This place is absolutely KILLER! My wife and I have eaten here a couple of times and the food was amazing. The service is great and the choice of foods is very unique and healthy. When you are finished eating here you will feel great. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for very good, healthy food. And the pricing is not outrageous. Great stuff!

Woohoo, nice place to grab a coffee /pastry especially on farmer’s market days. I can tell that the place gets crowded, so it looks like a reservation is the way to go!

What did you have for lunch today? Oh, porridge. Just call me Goldilocks. But seriously, who cares about the food? The 6’6 guy who works here is smoking hot and the Asian gal who works the shifts he doesn’t is the most pleasant person I have ever encountered. The porridge may be a little bizarre but the staff has got me swooning. The Croque Monster and Bahn Mi were actually really good. I just wanted to make a Goldilocks reference.

I’d give this place 10 stars if I could! Best vietnamese coffee! They use Verve! I love their breakfast options. The crispy rice with egg is just delicious and a very different option from the standard egg breakfast in the area. The quality of ingredients used is just so superior. I feel great after eating here. If you want a more ‘standard’ breakfast their spin off the breakfast sandwich is the«Croque Monster». Probably the best breakfast/egg sandwich I’ve ever had. Hearty but light at the same time, definitely fulfilling. The pickled onions and sausage add such a unique flavor to both options. Their Short Rib sandwich is also really good as a lunch option. Very good quality meat in this one, fills you up but once again, you feel light afterwards, not overly full. Their portions area great. The Chicken Banh mi was not my style. I don’t really like the bread it’s in– a toasted crispy/flaky baguette. It was still good but not my type of sandwich. Doesn’t change the fact that all their options area great. The servers and owners have been incredibly welcoming and nice, absolutely impeccable service. Very family like atmosphere, you can tell everyone enjoys to work there and take pride in their product. And now you can get free 1 hour parking with validation in the parking complex next to it. This is such a great plus because parking could be an issue in that area. Huge fan of this place, diamond in the rough, if you end up going, trust that you’ll be a regular!

Came for Porridge and Puffs. The savory porridge was delicious! I got the sampler which was more than enough for one, and I was glad to take it home. Next time it will be pickles and jam all the way. My one complaint: the porridge is so fresh that they literally cooked the rice from scratch and I waited over 35 minutes for my dish. My server didn’t make this clear when i ordered, and it wasn’t printed on the menu. Not to worry as I had my newspaper and the chef gave us all a tasty little cabbage salad with peanuts. But if I were trying to make it to a movie or the theater it would’ve been a bad thing.

Came here for brunch last Sunday. As is the norm, I was hungover from the night before and wanted some eggs. Too bad it was the NFL Conference final so my local dirty brunch pub was full. Well this place was sure different from my normal place. It is a quaint little corner restaurant that offer an amazing fusion-ish breakfast food. Ok, one thing I have to complain about is finding this place. The address says its on Vine, but the door is on one of the side streets that has the Farmers Market. There is a public parking structure on Vine and the side street is just a block away. After we finally found the place, we got to the good noms. I got the Vietnamese cold brew and croque monster. The Vietnamese cold brew was amazing. The coffee was not too sweet with too much condense milk nor was it super bitter. It was in the Goldilock zone of Vietnamese cold brew. The croque monster was also pretty good. The egg was perfectly cooked and the bologna was just enough meat to satisfy my craving but not make the dish too heavy. My only problem with the dish was the english muffin was a little to rough. I will definitely come back and try more dishes.

Full disclosure: my lovely talented chef friend owns this gem. She is a food worshipper to the nth degree and is so damn creative, you can’t help but to stand back in awe. We had a wonderful brunch here for another gf’s b-day and we left full and happy. My rib sandwich was juicy and flavorful with a hint of anaise. The crispy rice was EVERYTHING and the pastries and sweets, addictive. I even loved their flavored teas. Who knew there were that many teas?! Just yum! Parking is at Trader Joe’s and the joint has a warm, neighborhoody feel. I’m bringing back the Hubster for dinner. I can only imagine Chef Minh at dinner is a beast and doesn’t hold back. Cannot wait!

An under recognized gem in Hollywood. My «eggs grains & greens» was delicious and obviously made with care. This is a sophisticated casual café with subtle asian influences, not a tourist spot. I hope more people find out about it as they don’t seem to be getting as much business as they deserve.

Chef Minh and her group are rock stars! Masters of texture, flavor and spice. Eggs meurette(w/sous-vide eggs, pickled vegetables, exotic rice and magic sauce); flavorful frittata with special creamy center. Today we tried pastry-chef Sarah’s highly addictive sausage-filled pretzel — one the last nails in my recovering vegetarian coffin.

This place is really, really good. I stopped in after the gym and wanting to stay on diet. I got the soft eggs with the quinoa, lentil grain mixture(which is nice and crunchy in juxtaposition to the other components) and the sauteed kale. It was all tied together with this amazing harissa sauce that had a nice acid goin on. I’ve never had cold-brew coffee, but DAMNSON… because of this place, I’m gonna get it more often! I ordered the mint-honey cream one, and me likey very much. The kale isn’t bitter and perfectly cooked, the soft eggs were the right consistency and the coffee is legit. Plus, the staff were super friendly. There’s an open kitchen that you can see into, so I talked to the chef, who was highly knowledgeable and gave me some low-down on that harissa sauce. This place has only been open for 3 weeks apparently and I highly recommend stopping by and checking it out!

They have a cool cold brew iced coffee bar here so that’s what brought me in. I had a great New Orleans style one. The food looked insanely good. Vibrant looking plates whizzed by and I could tell just by the color of the food, this place uses fresh, farmer’s market ingredients. The inside could be a little sleeker. It seems like they moved in quick and on a budget. It’s not a date night kind of place… but I will definitely go back for the food and see if it’s as good as their iced coffee!

Admittedly I was predisposed to like Field Trip because I’ve had chef Minh Phan’s food before. Her new breakfast+lunch restaurant is totally charming & delicious. The menu features locally sourced ingredients in familiar dishes with novel twists(usually of a French or Asian bent). The experience feels both sophisticated and unpretentious. I’ve had the eggs meurette with crispy rice and vegetables — I was skeptical, but the dish completely won me over. I’ve also had the incredble«croque monster,» an egg sandwich on a housemade english muffin with bacon, cheese, bechamel and raspberry-geranium jam(!) on the side. All the pastries are made in-house, from the excellent chocolate-chip cookie to a corn scone with bacon bits. Even the iced tea is fantastic. A great addition to the neighborhood. Easily the best breakfast option in the Sunset/Vine area, and in the top 3 for lunch.
