Worst service ever! Everything that could have gone wrong did. After ordering, it took 40 minutes to get our drinks and over an hour to get our food.

This was confusing… The dineLA website called this Stafford + Mathis Kitchen, while still had it listed as FigOly. Found out they are in a middle of a transition and are in the process of revamping the entire menu. So we arrived a little past our reservation time due to LA parking hell. I refused to pay an obscene amount of money just to have lunch, so we parked across the street from this place at the LA Live parking garage. It was $ 5 for the first 2 hours. It was the best deal for the area. The restaurant was rather dead when we arrived. We got seated by the window and was given water. We got our dinaLA menus and decided on what we wanted. Okay, so this is where the bad comes in. We were informed that most of the dineLA menu was unavailable!!! I get to you’re in a transition, but don’t put items on a dineLA menu if the kitchen is unable to fulfill them! They should be well aware that dineLA would bring extra business, so I find the transition excuse as simply that… An excuse. They were out of ingredients for 80% of the items. Um, what? The degree of unpreparedness was hard to look over, especially for a classy joint like this. My boyfriend got their beet salad, while I got the mussels as an appetizer. We had to order the same for our entrees and dessert, which were the hanger steak and hazelnut espresso torte. Those were the only 4 items available believe it or not. I would say food was okay. My steak was a little undercooked for a medium, but whatever. Our waiter, Eric, was awesome. He was attentive and knew his stuff. They say they should have things up and running smoothly in about 2 weeks. Still, I’m very disappointed with management for not being more prepared. We were both looking forward to trying this place out and we spent money without getting exactly what we wanted.

Let me start by saying that, although I read Unilocal reviews often, I do not usually write one unless the place was either really good or really bad. For this place I felt compelled to write a review because this place wasn’t just bad, this place was comically horrible. I have never once in my life walked out of a place without paying the bill, but was tempted on multiple occasions to do so at this place. The dining experience was so over the top horrendous that the people in my party seriously thought that we may be on a hidden camera show and that someone was going to come out at the end and tell us it was all a set up. I wish we had been so lucky. So here is some background. We came here for DineLA week with a few couples to celebrate my wife’s birthday. In the past my wife and I have always picked a place we have never tried on DineLA because we like to take the opportunity to try new places. We chose Stafford + Mathis(which I guess is still the Figoly) because it was new and it was in downtown, close to where my friends were staying. We have probably tried 10 – 15 DineLA places over the years and they have ranged from excellent to pretty good. Never mediocre. Never bad. So we went in with an open mind. What happened next was the dining experience from the seventh circle of hell. Food: The food was actually okay. I can’t just write a blasting review and not be honest. It wasn’t horrible. I had a scallop appetizer that was okay, and my steak was above average. Dessert, although I received the wrong one, and hours late, was passable too. I would say the food was slightly above a decent chain restaurant. Like somewhere between an Applebees and a Cheesecake Factory. Probably not good enough considering the we were paying 75 a person with the wine pairing. Ambiance: Despite being in a decently located hotel near LA Live, the«restaurant» itself had no decorations or ambiance at all. Extremely plain, and not very clean. I would say it was a few steps below the eatery inside of an IKEA and maybe slightly above the cafeteria of an inner city junior high school. For our specific meal we were seated in a booth in the corner of the restaurant near the kitchen where it was unbelievably hot all night. So uncomfortably hot that everyone at our table mentioned it repeatedly. And this was in the middle of winter. Assuming this place still exists by the summer time, I would suggest flip flops and beach wear if you don’t want to be sweating and miserable by the time you finish your appetizer. Service: Not exactly sure where to begin. The waitress had an extremely difficult time taking our order, even though we all ordered the set menu. We are all pretty sure that she was smoking weed in between checking on our table, as the kitchen gave off a distinct marijuana smell and the waitress was very confused the entire night. She also could be heard muttering and hitting herself and calling herself«stupid» whenever she would mess up. We ordered the wine pairing with our three course meal and none of the wines ever came with the actual courses. For the main course, one of them was forgotten completely and arrived 20 – 30 minutes late. Then our desserts arrived, staggered throughout the party, and we were not given the desserts we ordered. Then after we had asked 3 times, the final pairing came after we had finished our meal, even though the waitress said she would bring it right before dessert. Finally, in a show of total irony, they brought another random dessert to my wife to wish her a «happy» birthday. We then proceeded to sing the saddest and most ironic happy birthday song of all time to my wife, who blew out her candle while making the wish«GODPLEASEMAKETHISMEALEND». Total time for this entire 3 course debacle — almost 4 hours. We contemplated walking out several times, but none of us had ever actually done this at a restaurant and we weren’t sure if they would actually chase us down and punish us — perhaps by making us eat here again. Conclusion: The only way anyone would ever eat here is if they were tricked into going here and didn’t do any research ahead of time. I cannot imagine one person in the entire world that would eat here, and then deliberately go back. My friends and I, even a few days later, have been exchanging e-mails and texts recalling the«dinning experience from hell». In time I think I may be able to look back and laugh about this experience, but at the moment, the pain and anguish this place inflected upon me is still too raw.

We made a reservation for 4 at 7 pm. When we went we were told that we had to wait 15 to 20 minutes(even though the restaurant was half empty). We were seated 30 minutes later. So the night started off bad. All thoughout the night our server was slow and our food came out late. This would have been okay if the food was good but it was definitely not worth the price. The pasta and my steak were cold as if it was left out for several minutes before being served. The total time we stayed there was 3 hrs, majority of the time waiting for our food… To add to this horrible experience we paid 18 dollars for parking with validation. Just dont come here to dine out. You will definitely regret it.

Ok, ever dream of going to Vegas and having the odds on all of the games in your favor? Then listen up! The cheapest beer on the menu is Bud/Bud Light/etc at $ 4. But they have a ‘beer in a bag’ promo where you get a random beer for $ 3.95. The bartender never gave us a cheap beer. In fact, one beer was on the menu for $ 11 and we got it for 3.95 thru the BITB promo. What a deal!

My coworker and I had great food and drinks at the location. They are pricey but you are in Downtown LA so yes prices are average. We milked our free drinks courtesy of the hotel(via their social media rep) but then we quickly moved on to the $ 5 happy hour specials. We enjoyed a delicious lunch here as well(we stayed at the hotel). I had the Caesar Salad and arugula pizza. I can’t ever get enough of that combo lol. Felt light and perfect for a sunny afternoon in LA. The restaurant /bar /lounge overlooks LA Live and has a sophisticated atmosphere to it. We really did enjoy ourselves. Although, stay away from the fire, too hot to sit in front of during the summer lol. I know others complained about the service but we didn’t see that. Everybody was very attentive to us and were very friendly. I would definitely stop by for drinks before an event again.

The first time we dined here we liked it, although very slow. However, The 2nd time, it was very slow again, nobody in the restaurant, too quiet, and the service sucked! And the food sucked! They were out of aleast ½ the menu. They need a new chef and some real waiters. It’s one of the best locations at LA Live, and for that reason they need to get it together, the bar is very cool over looking LA Live walkway. In General LA Live seems very slow after 11pm…

I would not go back to this place and would advise others to avoid if possible. you could eat at El Cholo right on the other side of the Luxe Hotel(amazing mexican food when I had it a few years ago). The pizza that my friends had were not bad, but my burger and the other burgers and sandwiches ordered at the table seemed overcooked and dry. The service was quite poor. The manager and servers were all very nice and polite, but undertrained in my opinion. It was not like the restaurant was really busy, but the staff looked like they were running around so frantically. There were only about 3 or 4 parties at the restaurant and the hostess said it was a busy night for them(red flag 1 and 2).

Great ambiance. Outdoor rooftop patio overlooking LA Live — just across the street. We had a cabana that had heat lamps above. The place was almost empty. Strangely though, the service was atrocious. I ordered a hamburger and it took over an hour and several reminders to the server before it showed up. My friends food showed up after about 20 minutes. They never cleared our empty plates. It was difficult to order drinks because they pretty much ignored us. The 2 friends we were with were regulars there and even that didn’t help. The food was passable bar food — OK, but not worth coming back for. The drinks were good. If they had better service they would be a solid 3.5 stars. The management needs replacing.

After a long night at the EMMY’S, we decided to grab a drink across from LA Live at Figoly. OMG that was the worst decision of our lives. We grabbed a seat on the patio and we were the only group out there. We tried to place our drink orders, but they were out of everything. No kidding, each of us had to change our drink order because they were out of some random ingredient. It went down like this, we would order a drink, the waitress put it in the computer, came back and told us it couldn’t be made. After multiple strike outs with our drink orders, we finally were able to relax with our drinks. We decided to take our chances and order a couple of appetizers. The flatbread was nothing to write home about. We quickly ate and drank, we wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. The waitress brings us our check and we all throw our credit cards down on the table. Luckily someone thought to take a closer look at the bill. The girl had forgot to remove the drinks they couldn’t make from the bill! She was charging us double what it should have been. We were outwardly upset about the whole situation. The restaurant being out of a ton of food and drinks wasn’t her fault, but not paying attention to what was being charged, was her fault.

Went about two weeks ago with a group of friends to celebrate a bday! It wasn’t too busy for a weekday but it is such a BEAUTIFUL restaurant. Our server(I think his name was Eric) WASAMAZING! He was quick, very hospitable and even smooth us with an upsell on the menu. The FOODWASDELICIOUS! Great view, great service and great food!

Nice restaurant and patio. The waiter was really nice and tried his best, but they need to hire more waiters. I felt sorry for him because it looked like there was only him and 40 tables. My friend and I ordered the arugula prosciutto fig pizza, the prosciutto fig salad and the meyer lemon tart. What we liked was that it didn’t take a reservation or 2 hours to get a table like all the other restaurants across the street before our concert. Nice patio, restaurant is clean and the food was good.

I don’t understand the low ratings. No complaints from me; everything was amazingly delicious. From the outside this hotel looks a bit pretentious but I can assure you the staff is so kind and friendly. On the second floor overlooking busy Figueroa is Figoly. We were greeted with the warmest smiles and promptly seated. I ordered a black bean burger with fries and unfortunately I don’t remember what my friend ordered. I believe it was the salmon or tuna burger but it escapes me at the moment. Our server, an older gentleman, was so sweet and kind. Everything he did for our table was done with a smile. He checked on us often to make sure nothing was wrong. The black bean burger has a slight spice to it; there was chipotle sauce on it and was delicious. You get a pretty view of the Grammy Museum and Figueroa Street which is always bustling with the working people and tourists that visit across the street. Inside this restaurant is a warm, cozy feeling. If you had a larger party, towards the back is a room made for a small party of possibly 20 people. From an angle you can view the televisions that sit over the bar area. If you feel that $ 40 – 50 is expensive for a meal and drinks, welcome to downtown Los Angeles. It’s not going to get much better anywhere else. I’d pay for the quality service here again in a heartbeat. I was told that the appetizers here are worth their price, especially the woodfired pizza. Next time I guess I’ll have to try the appetizers too.

People are complaining mostly about the price of the drinks. Welcome to DTLA! Well those of us that live in DTLA have the scoop. Sure the drinks and food is pricey but if you come during there happy hour you can get 5 wines, draft beers and 5 appetizers for $ 5 each in the patio/bar area. I love the outdoor patio because it’s very relaxing and beautifully decorated. The wines are decent and I tried all of there appetizers. I loved the short rib sliders, the antipasto skewers, the mac and cheese wasn’t cheesy enough for my friend but I liked it with the crusted parm on top. The flat bread pizza was no my favorite but I would eat it again. I didn’t try the truffle fries because I don’t care much for any fries. We ordered a side of brussel sprouts(not on the appetizer list) They were $ 7 but a large bowl with lardon aka chunks of bacon/pork. So tasty. I live 1 block away and plan to try out there regular menu too. If you want cheap drinks go back to the burbs. :p Located on 2nd story of LUXE hotel on Figueroa and Olympic… get it Figoly.

WHATARETHELOWRATINGSFOR? This place was amazing. Pros: Atmosphere/Vibe. It was upscale without being pretentious. It’s romantic, but hip. This place has EVERYTHING! The décor was perfect with an indoor dining room(romantically lit), full service bar(club styled with neon lighting), Outdoor patio with heat lamps(giant ones that really keep you warm), outdoor couch/firepit area, 3 private cabanas, a little fountain, amazing lighting, etc. It’s on the second floor, but unless you are standing over looking at the street, it feels like a rooftop lounge. I really couldn’t ask for more. Service: Fantastic. I have absolutely no idea what the other people are complaining about. Our waitresses were 10⁄10 when it came to service. Maybe 1 – 2 drinks were slow coming out, but we were busy eating so it was no big deal. We dropped $ 200 down with a good tip, and we didn’t get a good bye/thank you from her even after making eye contact, so that was a little downer, but besides that the service was great. The manager was also very friendly and accessible. Very nice guy. FOOD: It’s rare for me to say«this is the best ____I’ve ever had», but we both said that several times. Meatball Sliders are delicious(best meatballs I’ve had); Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly(the butter sauce is good); I’m not a salad guy, but my date had some butternut squash salad and it was the best either of us have had. DELICIOUS. We didn’t expect good food since the atmosphere was so good. Never been to a place with both. The only disappointing thing was the desert. It was mediocre. Not bad, but it didn’t blow me away. It was some chocolate smores thing. CONS: This isn’t so much about FigOly, but the Luxe hotel parking situation. There was a Lakers game when we came, so traffic around there was nuts. You MUST leave earlier to account for traffic if there is a game going on. Also, when we pulled up, there was a sign saying«$ 100 Parking.» We were quite shocked. It turns out FigOly customers get $ 9.00 valet parking for two hours, and they charge you $ 100 if you are late(according to the valet attendant). The manager at FigOly said he would take care of it, and talked to them and took our car info. When we got down there, valet tried to charge us $ 27.00 instead of the $ 9.00. We had to talk to the concierge to get it reversed. I would definitely come back. It’s not one of those places where you are paying for the view or atmosphere. The food was actually legit.

Fidoly is located on the 2nd level of the Luxe hotel, across the street from LA Live. My bf and I stopped here on a Saturday night. The décor is creatively elegant. It has indoor and semi outdoor seating that overlooks LA Live. We ordered«The Other Side» and an Long Island Iced Tea. Both drinks came with large ice cube, which made the drink designer grade. They totalled $ 27, which seemed a bit high. I would have given this place 4 or 5 stars had the price been more reasonable.

First, the positives: – We were immediately seated without a reservation, and we were told we could order from the restaurant menu on the patio. – The patio has wonderful ambiance. Cool chairs, marble tables, cool heat lamps, a beautiful fire pit, fantastic views of downtown. – Everything we ate tasted great. – The waitress and the chef both seemed like nice people. And now the negatives: – The food is expensive and the portions are tiny. For instance, the $ 19 lobster gnocchi had a halved shrimp, a lobster claw, and maybe 6 gnocchi pieces. The waitress didn’t explain that this was a starter and not an entrée. Meanwhile, the price would have led you to believe it was an entrée portion, not a starter. – The service was awful. I can’t think of a place I’ve been to where the service has been worse. The waitress did not know the menu and wasn’t able to answer questions about the food, the main course came out before the appetizer, the servers bringing the food out had no idea which table it was for, they forgot one of the entrees, they never refilled the waters, and it took 20 minutes(not an exaggeration) to get the bill, which we had to ask for twice. – The chef came out to let us know that they didn’t have an ingredient for the soup we ordered, and he very graciously offered to give us another soup instead at no charge. Not a big deal, it happens, and this would be a positive … except that they then charged us for the soup anyway. We had ordered a soup and eaten the substituted soup, so this was fine, but this error or false promise was in line with the rest of the experience. It felt like it was chaos in the kitchen and the front-of-house staff didn’t know what they were doing. We don’t plan to return.

Came here for the opening last friday. The restaurant is in the second floor of the Luxe hotel. You can park Valet at the hotel w/validation for 2 hr. $ 3 every 20min after that. I would say this is one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant opening. Its not a large place at all, so it was surprising it wasn’t packed . The waitress was very helpful and informative about all the dishes; practically made us want everything Started off with drinks: The Last Tango In Modena: The St Germain Foam was such a pleasant addition to the drink. Very GOOD! Insalata: the black figs, sweet and charred on the outside was delish Mussels al Forno: mussels and bone marrow? I’ve never heard of that combination, but it works. The sauce is savory. Mussels were cooked just right. Although I’m not the greatest fan of marrow, this was the best I’ve had. Tagliatelle: the wild boar and lamb were so tender. The dish was visually appealing. I thought it was great that you can get different flavors in each bite: one with mustard seeds(not overpowering), and one with olives. Unfortunately, we were cutting it close for the validation and wanted to meet friends and had to leave without dessert. There will be a next time.
