Found this place on the whim as we were house-hunting nearby. Cool place for coffee + brunch.

This place is the real deal. I’ve been here twice now and both times, Fix exceeded my expectations. The food is good, the ambience even better. This place is a true oasis, situated in a charming residential area of Echo Park. Most of the seating is outdoor and consists of communal tables, individual tables and comfy chairs. The noise level is low and the wifi free and strong. Street parking is easy. The coffee(Counter Culture!) is delicious, and I appreciate their use of the Clever Dripper for pour overs. After 4 pm, Fix serves wine and beer. Although the wine list is short, it’s well curated with some French and Spanish charmers and a nice range of prices. The staff is fast, friendly and approachable(a special shout out to Roland for his exceptional service!). If you’ve been looking for someplace far from the maddening crowd, a place where you can relax and drink some excellent coffee or wine, then Fix is definitely your cup of tea(or coffee).

Had a flat white. Was great. Not every coffee place does them well, but Fix had this down. Also had a cinnamon roll and the special. Cinnamon Roll was superb. The special was sweet potato biscuits and mushroom gravy with grits. Superb. Met friends there and the ambience was great for us to get together and chat. Will definitely get back when I am in the area. I really like the very diverse menu.

It’s been a long time since a salad impressed me. This roasted vegetable salad —thinly sliced persimmon, lightly browned roasted cauliflower and fingerling potatoes, juicy roasted zucchini squash, crisped sweet potato slivers, chives, chevre, persimmon vinaigrette… arranged and rested on lightly dressed arugula like it was nothing. I was speechless before, during, and after I polished the salad. oh my gah. oh my gah. Every bite. Every bite. I crown this the Best Salad of the Year [thus far].

I am continuing my search today for a replacement coffee shop to hang out in. Today, my 3rd espresso was pulled at The Fix. Getting there is half the fun. Really off the beaten path. I took Baxter street which would be the greatest sledding hill anywhere if it wasn’t for the fact it was in Los Angeles. Like a roller coaster from Allesandro street. The hill is so steep that when you get to the top you can’t see where it goes. You literally pull blindly ahead at the top of each hill. If you have a weak stomach, try to find a different way to this place. The coffee shop itself is not really made as a place to hang out at in the winter. They have sparse seating inside with only barstools. So facing the wall leaves you wide open to people seeing whatever you’re working on. I like privacy and you won’t get it here. The shot they pulled was short — which is how I like but I had hoped for more crema. Maybe a tighter tamp would do it. The espresso itself was not a good blend. It was so sweet it could make you sick. Ran into the same problem as I have been running into a lot lately. I want a single shot, not a double. No, i don’t want to pay for a double when I want a single. They do not offer single shots… Just like Caffe Vita and Dinosaur. Again, each shot has a food cost of 30 to 40 cents. A single shot for about $ 2 or $ 2.25 is a 700% markup. A double shot at $ 3 is only a 500% markup… That means single shots are more profitable and you make your customers more happy. I gave this spot two chances. Last night when I came to check it out I could not connect to the wifi but I was able to connect this morning and once connected it worked okay. I liked the people, they were friendly enough. There were places to plug in inside and they had more tables outside. So if you want to bundle up in the winter in the morning it might be a good place, otherwise, wait til the summer. But I have a feeling it will be standing room only in the summer. It is nice outside though. So I give the espresso a B for not being bitter but being too sweet and narrow range of flavor. I am unsure if they rotate their blends so that could change. I give the interior seating a D because backless chairs and sparse seating. Outdoor seating is a C, it’s comfortable out there as far as surroundings but the seats themselves are uncomfortable. The people I’ll give an A for friendlyness and non trendiness unless you consider non trendy as a trend. I may come here in the summer but the sickly sweet espresso and lack of interior seating will keep me away for the winter. I could not finish my espresso, it made me want to wretch.

Best coffee I’ve had in LA. Better than: Blue Bottle, Stumptown, Spring For Coffee, Caffe Vita, Dinosaur, Intelligentsia, etc. I got the«Gibraltar» with almond milk. I have come in three separate times with three separate baristas and each time it has been consistently amazing.(Very hard to find).

Not feeling the fly infestation problem around the outdoor eating area. Get fly tape and clean up around the dirty plate bus station more often.

I love the location and the space. The patio has a lot of different tables and seats, and it’s great depending on the mood you’re in or if you’re here to hang with friends or just work on your laptop. I got the Moka coffee with a blueberry scone, and both were delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Fantastischer Kaffee. Tolle, moderne aber dennoch intimere Athmosphäre. Gute Küche, nette, manchmal etwas spezielle Bedienung und Klientel.

Unilocal once again sending us to the wrong places. We moved a few blocks away from Fix, and after seeing the good reviews we decided to try it out. Epic fail. We ordered some food, a salad with dressing on the side with some of their avocado toast, and a couple lattes and a scone. First when the bill came out to $ 30 my jaw dropped. The salad alone was $ 15. I could have handled that if it wasn’t for the fact they then went on to take 20 minutes to make it, meanwhile coffees got cold, but they also went on to mess it up not once, not twice, but three times. I went there twice to try and fix it, but by the time I got a box with a slice of bread in it(and nothing else) I realized I was just wasting my time. If I had gone back again it probably would have been a turd in the box. After calling to complain they said the manager would call me back. Never happened. Next day I go over in the morning to get some coffee; one normal vanilla latte, one steamed milk with vanilla(for kids), and an extra hot soy latte. Not to complicated right? Wrong. First try I got a cold cup of milk and a vanilla latte and a normal latte. Strike one. Second try I got the steamed milk and a soy latte that was part cold. Strike two. Third time they assured me it was right, so without testing them all I drove home. My bad. Got home, the steamed milk was 50% vanilla syrup no one could drink. The soy latte was ½ foam, and my vanilla latte turned out to be some weird tea latte thing. Strike three Fix. Peace out!

Wowwww! I got just a iced latte with almond milk which I lightly sweetened myself; the flavor was complex and bold but with subtle nuances. You can tell the coffee bean was of high quality and the baristas know how to extract some serious flavor outta dat bean. The latte had the flavor of coffee ice cream and there was no dairy; it was very creamy and rich! The décor was very retro; wood paneled walls and low hanging ceilings. The espresso bar was in the center of the room and there was bar style seating surrounding. The service was nice and friendly. Everything was super nice inside. The bathroom had a futuristic feel to it; reminded me of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Anway, go check it out! The location is in a prime spot where you’re away from the busy streets of sunset. You can do a nice light hike up to Fix and get a nice latte or espresso and chill there. Definitely need to head back there to try the appetizers and food plus more lattes! I would like to try the rose latte! Go there!

I really, really like the ambiance of Fix Coffee. It’s tucked away off the beaten path in Echo Park in the neighborhood area where there are lots of trees and houses. I enjoy coming here if I happen to be close just to chill out a bit in their outside patio under the trees by the side of a hill. It’s a perfect place to reflect and work on my songs and just to get creative in general. In fact, it seems to be frequented by a lot of artist types which makes sense since the area is home to many creative-type folks. I’ve only had the coffee here though but they have an interesting food menu besides the usual coffee house fare of scones and muffins, etc. They have a whole kitchen in the adjoining building where I’ve seen some really cool plates come out to be delivered to the patrons sitting outside. Although, the plates aren’t cheap and actually, a little on the high side. A little too high quite frankly which is why I had to ding them a star. They seem to have special events where they’ll have wine pairings with a special dinner. I think I saw an advertisement for one where it was 90 bucks for this. Hmm, a little high but I hope it was worth it for those who spent that much. Anyways, it might be interesting to try some of the food sometime and I’ll be back again soon.

I’m a little fond of this coffee/sandwich spot located in Echo Park. We had just been scaling up the Baxter Stairways and taking in some views and were looking for a place to relax for a little bit. Fix is located very close by and fit the bill. I had a lamb pita which was great. They serve various other snacks like«cauliflower cous cous» and«gluten-free chickpea fritter(plate or pita)» Lots of garden-based choices here for vegetarians as well as a decent beer/wine selection. The coffee bar on the inside is lit in an interesting way and there is some counter space for sitting, but the outside patio is where you want to go. Plenty of benches, tables, and patio chairs all set up like a courtyard. It’s a nice chill spot and I saw lots of people working on their laptops. I don’t think I had any of their coffee but my wife did and she said it was good. So there ya go. If I lived in Echo Park I could see myself coming here on the regular.(especially since it’s dog friendly and with free wifi)

I still really like Fix but the prices would make even Intelligentsia cry. I paid $ 4 for a medium premade coffee that was pumped out of a container. Wasn’t even a pour over or anything that justifies $ 4! The pastries are lovely and the service isn’t great but they try hard. And I like the space. They’re doing construction to add on a full kitchen to serve breakfast. I remember when you were almost guaranteed to get stabbed in Echo Park! I just hope that Fix and other new hip businesses help increase the price of my house.

I first came to this spot in the 2000’s for an acceptance interview to the University of Chicago. I didn’t end up getting in, but enjoyed myself and developed a spot in my heart for Fix Coffee. Woke up one morning and decided to give Fix another visit with a clear heart. And… wow. Now this is Echo Park, and not a cheap place for a cup of joe. But I enjoyed it so much. I ordered one of their specialty hand-brewed coffees, which was amazing, and then indulged my sweet tooth with a flavored latte. The drink that captured the heart of high school me was a lavender coffee latte, but the staff suggested trying a rose latte instead. It was delicious! Both cups came out to about $ 10. This place is super dog friendly, and the number of customers ebbs and flows. I saw it go from packed to deserted, but the staff kept a smile going the whole time. This place is a little out of my way, but next time I won’t wait a decade to visit again.

Great place with a huge outdoor patio for seating. I had the pour over coffee and it was so good! I also ordered the turkey and white cheddar panini and it was delicious! Fresh ingredients and a good portion. They offer to toast it for you too which is awesome. I loved everything about this place. Very hip and trendy but definitely not over-rated. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. FIX is the place to be to get your coffee fix!
